KarlHessEatMy.... Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 http://espn.go.com/high-school/girls-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/183827/nancy-mulkey This might be a stupid question but was just curious what people thought about her. Womens thread seems a little dead so I thought I would just throw something out there. Is there any way that a college outside of Baylor, Texas or A&M could get her. I have seen a few videos of her. Feel like she will be able to do some damage in college. Was just curious think it would be cool if she was a Husker. Quote
huskerchode Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 And maybe Tim Miles could take a look at her younger brother. Quote
huskerchode Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 I just read another article on her and it says she is 6'9" and STILL GROWING. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1645291-nancy-mulkey-the-next-womens-college-basketball-mega-star Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 That is the Mulkey who coaches at Baylor's daughter correct? Quote
TheKamdyMan Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 That is the Mulkey who coaches at Baylor's daughter correct? no relation. As for her height and growth I wonder if she has Marfan's. Its the same thing that just ended the career of Isaiah Austin from Baylor. Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 I asked because Kim's other daughter played for her and I think was from the same town. I think that the Mulkey children lived with dad in another city. Or something like that. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 I asked because Kim's other daughter played for her and I think was from the same town. I think that the Mulkey children lived with dad in another city. Or something like that. Nancy's mom played for G'Tech in the 80s and might still be one of their all-time leading scorers. Her mom isn't the same lady as the Baylor coach. Nancy, though tall, is no Brittany Griner. (I can't believe I'm typing this.) Yeah, Nancy has a lot going for her, most of all height. But she's a twig and she doesn't appear to have the frame to carry a lot of extra weight. In other words, if she gets bigger, she's not going to be able to move better with it. As it is, she's too slight and spindly to hold her ground in the low blocks; instead, she's liable to get pushed around a lot. I realize she'll make up for a lot of that just by being so tall, and she does run pretty well. She has a good, soft touch on her shots. But I question whether she'll ever have the coordination, strength and mass to be the kind of low-post force that Griner was. Which is not to say that Nancy won't be a good college player. But she won't be on the same level as Griner, IMO. Quote
Row6Seat10 Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 Sounds like she will be hard to pull out of Texas. She's been seen at a lot of Texas and Baylor games. The Huskers have shown to have some interest in her but that seems about all it is now. The real prize in Texas is Lauren Cox. She comes from the same home town as Hallie Sample but a different high school. Every team in America is after her. She visited Baylor last week and I believe UConn, Duke, Texas will get visits out of her yet. Cox has said she wants to go to a school where she might have a chance to play both volleyball and basketball. Which is why most think she will end up at Texas. Quote
Row6Seat10 Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 Also, check out the 2016 recruits thread as new Husker prospects have been added recently. More to come for sure. Quote

Griner is 6, 7, 8 years older and been through college and the associated strength and conditioning. Mulkey has a long way to go...both growing and "filling into" her shoes. If she ever stops growing taller, then she'll be able to fill out a bit. Who knows when. But her vodeo show's she pretty well coordinated at this stage...but she's still just a kid...dosen't know how be a little nasty in her play yet. Got a great role model in her mom....a college player herself. Her baby brother was/is about 6-8 as an 8th grader. Quote
Row6Seat10 Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 Mulkey put out her top 15 list this evening and Nebraska didn't make the cut. Baylor, Duke, Georgia, Kansas St, Louisville, LSU, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oregon, Southern Cal, South Carolina, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech and UConn Quote
Norm Peterson Posted September 20, 2014 Report Posted September 20, 2014 Kansas STATE?!? WTF? Oh, maybe because their current coach was at one of those little Texas Schools a year ago. But still. Kansas STATE?!? WTF? Quote
