Smart decisions being made by every player so far.  If I were advising Harrison, Reetz, Kelly, and Bummer I would have told each of them to sign.  For each individual case its the best scenario possible for them at this time and for the future.

Harrison, Kelly, Bummer...yes.  Jakson, I am not so sure.  It depends on the contract and what fringes are available.  He is a catcher.  He likely is, at a minimum four years from the majors.  The questions include where he can best mature as a player and if the financial windfall offsets the benefits of spending time at Nebraska.

For some, the answers are easy, for others, not so much.  It kind of sounds (if rumors are true) that he has made the decision to turn pro.  As meticulous and focused as Reetz is, I am sure that whatever decision he makes, it is well thought out and right for him.

I just look at things from actually going through it myself as well as with others and seeing the pros and cons.  Assumng he will sign for 750K or above, which gives him a nice cushion after taxes to start saving for his future.  He gets his foot in the door and can start the climb up the ladder now.  He avoids paying for as well as going to school and can can focus on baseball all the time.  If he pans out he will be most likely be at a higher level in 3 years than he would after three years of high school and then signing meaning he'd be closer to the show.  If he doesnt pan out, odds are he would've been exposed in college, and wouldnt get nearly as much or any of that same signing bonus he is getting now.  If he doesnt pan out, most teams will give scholarship money to these players to obtain their degrees essentially for free or close to it once they are done.  Again thats my reasoning from seeing every side of the pro game.  I think Jakson is a very good player and think he will be better off starting now to get the ball rolling.
