Last name was very disappointing. We really had an opportunity to throw our hammer down and we failed to do so. We can still get a lot don't and even make the dance, but last night was a real opportunity. You can watch that game and realize nebraska is better than Illinois. We had no plan B, we turned it over in the transition. We didn't pounce when we needed to.

I'm sure we both wish the Huskers would have won and taken advantage of the opportunity that was there. That said, this team CAN'T disappoint me. They have already achieved so much more than anyone thought they would at the start of the year that anything more they accomplish will be an added pleasure. I WANT them to win out the rest of the year and make it to the Dance but I am so proud of this team this year already that I could never say they are a disappointment.

Bubble teams 95% of the time are at .500 or a game above or below that mark at the end of the season with their conference record.  Thats where NU projects to be in that range.  That means on average these teams lose one game PER WEEK in conference.  They statistically are doing exactly what would be expected of them.  The only difference is they have had winning and losing streaks instead of an ebb and flow win-loss-win-loss scenario.

I am extremely proud of this team. Very rarely does a program instantly go from historically subpar with little recent success to tournament contenders within one season. Those few exceptions usually occur as the result of a superb athlete, and in the case of Kansas State athletes, joining the squad. Nebraska lost its leader and two of its best three players last year. It has played a tough schedule and is one game away from a guaranteed .500 BIG season.

I am disappointed in some of the fans' unrealistic expectations of late. We need to keep ourselves grounded. This team is still growing emotionally and has only won 2 road games all season. While it is clear this team has talent, it still needs some maturation before we can be disappointed with a road loss to a team that is in the top 100. Give these guys time. If they don't make it this year, they will be very hungry next year.

I agree. More dissappointed in how we played then the outcome.

Then I am scratching my head about why you would start a new thread to express that. Go to one of the several other game discussion threads and say so. Starting a new thread about it struck me more as a way to draw attention to your disappointment with the TEAM not the GAME. Hence, my reply.
