Nebraska vs. Ohio State Breakdown (Reason for hope!)

A couple reasons for hope that the Huskers can get win number two in the B1G tourney here in a couple hours:

1) We made SEVEN more field goals than they did in our last game against each other, let me repeat that SEVEN.  Ohio State was given 28 free throw attempts compared to our 5 (at home none the less).  Now credit to them they did make them, but this stat alone gives me hope that we can beat these guys if we don't allow them to get to the foul line! (See box score below)

2) Tough to beat a good team 3 times in a row (I realize we may not be a good team, but you have to imagine the Ohio State staff spent around 75% of there prep time scouting Purdue and not us)

3) Already have the tournament jitters out of the way (Which means we must play well early and take advantage of that)

4) Tim Miles and his staff, they have shown that they can scout and prepare our team to play great defense,

We are going to need Craft to shoot poorly today.  We gotta pick our poison some, and I am hopeful we lay off him.

The biggest factor affecting this game in my opinion is that we just played a game 24 hours ago, while Ohio State hasn't played in days. They'll be fresh while we'll be tired. It will really start to show as the game heads into the final 10-15 minutes.

 

I believe a win here will require:

 

1) Nebraska plays one of its best games of the season

2) Ohio State plays very poorly

3) Liberal substitution by Nebraska, which will mean that Andre, Parker and perhaps even Tyrance will need to step up and have solid games. Andre needs to have one of his best games and needs to step up on defense on pick and rolls.

 

This isn't exactly 1980 USA vs. Russia hockey, but it will take a near-miracle to pull this off on less than 24 hours rest.

Ray is going to break 2 of Cary's records today.  Most 3 pointers made in a game and by beating that record he will break Cary's record for most 3 points made in a season.

 

He would need 9 to break the game record.  Shileds, Ubel and Talley each add 15 and that is 75 points.

I was at that game.  Tim said something to the effect afterward of "we need to get to the line more."  And I believe that.  I want to be a team that drives to the hoop and gets to the line.  3 points are great but I want to use them as complement to the rest of offense.  Kick out to open shooters.

Our FT/FGA percentage is one of the worst in Div I. He could blanket apply this quote to almost every game this year.
