  1. That would make sense. Thanks
  2. Geez, just looked at the box score. Didn't realize Haas played just 13 minutes. 11 points and 5 boards in that short amount of time. We may have caught a break that he didn't play more.
  3. Swanigan also featured on tonight's The Journey, strangely enough. Too bad they won't have some highlights from today's game on there.
  4. We chose to live or die by limiting Swanigan, and it worked. 5-for-15 and some of the shots he made were tough looks I thought. He found some 3-pt shooters for assists, but he also had some key turnovers. 14 and 14 is a career best day for a lot of guys, but certainly not his best day and we made sure little came easy for him. Also, just a reminder for those who may have missed the first airing of The Journey like I did on BTN - it's coming up in a few minutes with a Webster and Watson feature part of it.
  5. This is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. We can't give our student athlete a shoe that actually fits him because the brand we have to use doesn't make his size, and now he's injured? And we've known this is a problem for nearly a month now, and it's still not resolved? With all of the folks we have pulling checks in our athletic dept right now, there's no one who can fix this? I have to go throw up now.
  6. Yup, this is the kind of game where Horne & McVeigh can really shine - going to be tough to generate much at the rim on drives in the lane, but the kickout 3s will be there. Jordy also being very active considering he's been in a boot. Good to see. NU playing great D so far.
  7. Well said - Tai is the perfect example for anyone who goes through some struggles. The way he has just put his head down and worked and worked and worked -- rather than sulking and giving up and going somewhere else, as a lot of players would have -- has been simply tremendous. He has made himself into an All B1G player. And on top of it all, to be counted on to provide tons of leadership on a really young team and be asked to take and make huge shots late in games, that's a lot on his shoulders this season. Yet he has handled it all tremendously well, answering the bell every game. I hope folks in New Zealand are as proud of what he's done the past 4 years as we are here. He will be a very deserving 28th member of NU's 1000-point club in a few more games.
  8. Coach Miles just said Jordy has been in a boot since OSU game, x-rays were negative after the game, so he'll play today. Hopefully he can play well. Need him inside vs this huge RU lineup.
  9. Time for a little professional photo editing work to make this photo more palatable. You guys are welcome.
  10. Wisconsin in the bonus against Michigan with 14:26 left in the 2nd half. Huh. Eades not in the building, by the way.
  11. Very entertaining slugfest between OSU & MSU right now - Bucknuts seems to be putting more effort into this game than I've seen them play with the majority of the season. Probably wouldn't be all bad to see them get a win before they come to Lincoln.
  12. Yeah, I would bet on McVeigh starting too, especially going on the road. Would be nice to have someone who has some starting experience in the lineup, rather than throwing a freshman out there for his first start. NU was going to have to really watch matchups in this game against Wagner anyway - now that becomes even tougher. Don't see any way Jordy can guard Wagner successfully for an extended period, so Jordy's minutes will have to be limited, even without Morrow available. Wagner is averaging 29 minutes in league games. Need McVeigh & Roby to really rebound. I do like Roby's chances of guarding Wilson, so he may see extended minutes. I wonder how much 1-3-1 we'll see from NU - it's going to be tempting I'm sure without Morrow to try steal some possessions with a change-up zone, especially if Wagner is killing us - but Beilein knows that defense pretty well, so I wouldn't expect UM to have many problems against it. Ultimately, I don't think Miles tries it much, if at all, which really puts the pressure on our 4s and 5s to guard well without fouling. NU has had no success against UM/Beilein - 0-6 with 5 double-digit losses since joining the B1G - going to be that much tougher without Morrow.
  13. Mich 85 NU 76 Hate to change my pick, but without Morrow, the matchups are really tough - hope I'm wrong.
  14. They made shots, NU didn't. Teams that can make 11 of their first 19 3s on the road probably deserve to win. Agree that we looked tired - a lot of jump shots came up short and defensively we really didn't rotate and close out as well as we normally do. Not an excuse, NW deserved to win, but it wasn't the same team we've been seeing. Iowa looked a bit leg weary at home vs Rutgers today too, but snuck out a win. Flip opponents, and you'd probably flip results too. Just caught a hot shooting NW team on the wrong day for us. The week off will help us hopefully heading to Michigan next weekend!
  15. Northwestern's self esteem must've been pretty low to steal from K-State's moribund athletic program. Then again, maybe they figured no one would notice.
  16. Thru 20 B1G games this season: (Indiana/Illinois pending) 20% have been OT games 30% have been decided by 3 pts or less 55% have been decided by 7 pts or less 25% have been decided by 12 pts or more In first 21 B1G games in 2015-16: 0% OT games 14% 3 pts or less 33% 7 pts or less 43% 12 pts or more Certainly a small sample size, but overall league is much more competitive this season top to bottom.
  17. Maryland goes to Michigan and wins, 77-70. Hopefully we can do the same next weekend! Another crazy day in the B1G. No easy games in this league right now. Now if Illinois wins at Indiana this afternoon, it'll go from crazy to Twilight Zone.
  18. MSU loses at PSU today to put NU all alone in first. Hopefully it lasts for 15 more games! CONFERENCE BIG TEN W L PCT STRK Nebraska 3 0 1.000 W4 Wisconsin 2 0 1.000 W9 Michigan State 3 1 .750 L1 Minnesota 2 1 .667 W2 Purdue 2 1 .667 W1 Penn State 2 2 .500 W1 Maryland 1 1 .500 L1 Michigan 1 1 .500 W1 Illinois 1 1 .500 W1 Northwestern 1 2 .333 L2 Iowa 1 2 .333 L1 Indiana 0 2 .000 L3 Ohio St 0 2 .000 L2 Rutgers 0 3 .000 L4
  19. That game and atmosphere last night would be tough to turn down for any recruit. Hopefully this report is true!
