  1. Ha, yeah, my thought that IU hung around for a half, so they might be able to hang around for 40 min didn't last long.
  2. Indiana +13 at Seton Hall Maryland -5.5 over Butler NW -4 over ___ _____ ___________ ___ Bluebirds
  3. PU wins going away - man, Purdue moves the ball well. Impressive 2nd half offensively for the Boilers. A couple of random close-ups on Ed Morrow on the MU bench during the broadcast Great start for the B1G vs that other league with two double-digit road wins Minnesota 86, at Providence 74 Purdue 86, at Marquette 71 Wednesday, Nov. 15 -- B1G leads 2-0 5:30 pm – Indiana at Seton Hall, FS1 7:30 pm – Butler at Maryland, FS1 8 pm – Creighton at Northwestern, BTN Thursday, Nov. 16 **5:30 pm – Nebraska at St. John’s, FS1 7:30 pm – Xavier at Wisconsin, FS1 Friday, Nov. 17 7:30 pm – DePaul at Illinois, BTN After Maryland and NW win tomorrow, NU can clinch things on Thursday. Setting up perfectly!
  4. Purdue 32, Marquette 30 at half - pretty good defense from MU, as Purdue has been scoring at will vs lesser opponents so far this season - Boilers led most of the half by 5-8 pts PU was a 5-pt favorite at tip
  5. Milwaukee 74, ISU 56 That's what happens when you become a football school.
  6. UNT wasn't as scrappy as EIU, but it was nice to see us bounce back after not playing as well as we wanted to Saturday and jump all over the next opponent. Big starts like that will be important in games like Thursday. First half was mostly fun, second half was a slog to the finish. If they're going to call that many fouls, they may need to start selling adult beverages at PBA, because it was tough to watch that FT parade sober. OK. Sober-ish.
  7. Minnesota 86, at Providence 74 Tuesday, Nov. 14 -- B1G leads 1-0 7:30 pm – Purdue at Marquette, FS1 Wednesday, Nov. 15 5:30 pm – Indiana at Seton Hall, FS1 7:30 pm – Butler at Maryland, FS1 8 pm – Creighton at Northwestern, BTN Thursday, Nov. 16 **5:30 pm – Nebraska at St. John’s, FS1 7:30 pm – Xavier at Wisconsin, FS1 Friday, Nov. 17 7:30 pm – DePaul at Illinois, BTN
  8. Providence currently a 2-pt favorite over the Rodents. Hopefully Minny can steal this one on the road.

  10. Certainly agree with EIU being a bad matchup for McVeigh - and apologies if my reply earlier came off a bit harsh or anti-Jack. We're a better team if he's playing and contributing. I guess my thought is that he only is going to play the 4 for us - maybe he gets minutes at the 3 in a big lineup where we're playing zone. Defensively, he just can't guard a 3 or a 5, I don't believe. So at the 4 he's competing with Roby & Copeland for minutes. To take minutes from those guys, he has to be scoring, because he can't match Roby's rebounding and defense, and Copeland is just going to get better and better the healthier he gets/more minutes he plays - I liked his mid-range game last night and really am looking forward to seeing him make progress. But when Jack is hot offensively, he can score in bunches, which I don't think those other two can do. For those reasons, It's going to be tough for the coaches to plan on playing McVeigh 20 min a game. He's the kind of player where I think he gets 5-7 min in the first half, and if he's scoring, you leave him in. If he's quiet like last night, he doesn't get many more minutes because you have some other really good options. He's going to have some big games, and some games like he had last night I'd guess. Love to see him earn more playing time, because that means he's scoring, and that makes us better.
  11. Jack is clearly at the end of the rotation. If he's scoring, he'll stay on the floor. If he isn't, other guys are taking his minutes, like we saw last night. He's going to have to come in and get some shots up quickly and hit them if he wants minutes. His role is going to have to be instant offense.
  12. Once the initial excitement wore off after 5 minutes, I think we kind of shied away from the feisty play EIU brought, outside of Roby blocking every shot taken in the city limits. The way he was going I thought he might get another block or two from the locker room on the little kids at halftime. Took a long time for NU to ratchet up the intensity level again after the first media timeout. EIU just outscrapped us for a good chunk of the game. Jordy struggled offensively, but I thought he was the guy that really got our attitude back in the 2nd half. He started throwing his body around and I felt like he got the guys going. He also did a nice job shielding defenders in the lane in the 2nd half, opened up some driving lanes. And he had 2-3 great passes out of the post. So he certainly struggled - mightily - in some aspects, but I was encouraged that he found other ways to contribute. After Turner was on the bench for that long stretch in the 2nd half, I thought he brought some nastiness on the boards too when he came back in. This team needs its big guards to rebound. And Glynn just took over late, showed a lot of toughness, because you could tell he was hurting. Liked the way Allen played. He has a big time confidence to his game. Certainly wasn't perfect, but never shied away from anything either. When NU asked him to guard EIU's #2, I was really concerned, but I thought he did a nice job staying in front of him. When you think about where guys like Glynn and Tai were as true freshmen & where they are now/ended up, tons and tons of upside coming for Allen if he can follow that same trajectory.
  13. This plus 1 million. Thankfully, Eichorst did not have the political capital to fire Coach Miles at the end of last season like I'm sure he wanted to - God only knows what kind of hire he would've made.
  14. Iowa 95, Chicago St 62 --B1G goes 11-1 on opening night with 10 blowouts. Indiana keeps the league from getting too big of a head. NU & Michigan open tomorrow. Kansas 92, Tenn St 56 N Dakota 83, Troy 80 in Hawaii --Coach Fran recommends the Troy team leaves the floor without shaking hands
  15. NW hangs on, 77-75, vs Loyola Md Going to be interesting to see how they handle being the hunted versus being the underdog story
