How could they leave UNO's Ralston Arena off the list? Or were you talking about Snyder Arena at Wesleyan?
-
That's what I thought I remembered hearing - something along those lines. I remember it seemed really unusual at the time. Thanks!

Chiles vs major teams: 11-22 at Northwestern 19 pts on 8-12 FG, 1-2 3-pt, 7 reb, 2/3 Ast/TO 11-25 at Missouri........ 12 pts on 6-17 FG, 0-6 3-pt, 5 reb, 0/3 Ast/TO 12-14 at Marquette..... 21 pts on 9-23 FG, 1-3 3-pt, 3 reb, 1/2 Ast/TO Was averaging 17.6 pts per game in early January, then must have been hurt. Missed about half of the Summit League schedule and only returned to starting lineup for final 2 games. And in case we end up with a certain assistant coach who has any influence on what happens here : 3/1 at Western Illinois 27 pts on 9-18 FG, 4-5 3-pt, 4 reb, 3/1 Ast/TO I can't imagine many players, if any, scored 27 against WIU this season ... Shields & Petteway combined had 26 vs WIU for example. IUPUI was really bad this season, 6-26, and fired its coach, so I can understand why Chiles is looking to leave. Chiles bio

Do Miles & Molinari have a history together? We played someone in the non-con who helped NU with a self-scout or something after we played them, and I thought it was WIU because of some relationship between the coaches. Or the two coaches met before or after the game and discussed NU's strengths/weaknesses from a scouting perspective. Something like that. If this is the case, I can understand why Miles may want someone who is one the same wavelength as he is scouting/strategy wise, just as Smith was. I could be remembering that incorrectly though. As far as why he'd leave, I'd guess being an assistant at NU is worth 50% to 75% more in salary versus being a head coach at WIU. And he may want to join a program that is going to make a deep NCAA run sometime soon. Or he loves the Husker Power chant. Either way is good.

This is a good point - Coach mentioned on his TV show that NU was a perfect 1000 the previous year, but said (paraphrasing) "we've had some attrition" for this season. Hopefully Biggs has been completing his work in the classroom to keep the APR up, but it was kind of a cryptic comment from Coach Miles - almost made it sound like NU wouldn't be at 1000 this season. Has BIggs' name appeared on any of the "graduate transfer" lists yet? Serj is certainly a very good student, as he's academic all B1G, so hopefully he would much rather stay in school (wherever that is) and get a degree vs trying to play professionally someplace.

Oh, man!!!! You meant that I won't be able to apply? Just head down to the Final Four and stand outside the coaches convention room with a resume in hand and you'll fit right in.
-
I thought Coach mentioned on his TV show that he was hoping the U would allow him to classify this hiring as a priority since we're now short-handed recruiting wise and since the primary place to interview/hire new assistants would be at the Final Four, thereby he wouldn't have to post the job opening for a certain amount of time before making the hire. So if/when that happens things should move relatively quickly this weekend in Dallas.
-
That's understandable - they don't play major league baseball in Chicago. Well ... sometimes the Sox do.
-
Coach Miles said on his show last night that NU (paraphrasing) 'would probably get Hawaii first at Diamond Head, so that'll give us another road game' - he probably was being sarcastic, but I couldn't tell for sure. He also mentioned Creighton & Cincinnati coming to Lincoln - road game for ACC/B1G challenge - but no other non-conference games mentioned
-
According to the Tim Miles Show last night anyway: NU wins regular-season finale at home vs Top 10 Wisconsin - #NoSitSunday NU wins at Michigan St for a Top 10 road win NU earns NCAA Tournament bid during watch party at PBA Home win vs Ohio St to gain first B1G conference win after 0-4 start NU wins at Indiana to earn season sweep Petteway scores 35 vs Minnesota in home win - start of the surge of 10 wins in 12 games Parker takes a charge late vs Northwestern in home win NU wins opening game at PBA vs Fla Gulf Coast, 79-55 NU road win at Northwestern, 1st true road win of season NU-Purdue, Petteway & Pitchford getting lob dunks from Gallegos making SportsCenter Pretty solid list - I may have slid Shields' 33 pts vs Illinois in there at around #6 or #7, probably take the road win at Northwestern out

HHCC Final Standings - Congrats Buglem

Thanks ASC for running the contest! -
I hope you're right - that'd be a great matchup for us. Better yet, let's send Louisville to PBA. Didn't Vitale or Tirico recently say something about wanting to make a trip to Lincoln next season? I wouldn't mind back to back home games in the challenge - we've earned it.
-
Yeah I could see that - have to think some combination of: Mich, Mich St, Wisc, and Ohio St -- vs -- Louisville, Syracuse, N Carolina, Duke Maryland will probably go on the road against whomever their biggest ACC rival was - Virginia? - as a "revenge" game Then NU, Minnesota, Indiana & Illinois probably gets someone out of the Pitt, Clemson, Fla St, NC State group

Yeah but G-town is in a mid-major conference now.

The way I understand the scheduling limitation rule, if we want to play a 31st game, we'd have to play someone in the Diamond Head field either home or away, so that's a possibility. Otherwise with the 8-team, 3-game tournament field we'd be limited to 30 overall regular season games again I believe. ESPN offered us a game at New Mexico this past season if we wanted a 31st game, correct, since UNM was in the Charleston Tourney? Perhaps ESPN would put Colorado & NU together for old-times' sake in 2014-15. Honestly, going to Chicago to play DePaul for the 31st game wouldn't be a bad move either. Seems like we have a recruiting target in that area. I'd like to see NU and UNO start playing regularly at PBA. Makes more sense than bringing in The Citadel or someone like that. Perhaps every 4th year we could even play that game at Century Link.

My parents always told me not to ask questions that I was too lazy to look up on my own. Looks like 1997 was the last time - beat Iowa St in OT in Ames and Texas at home. Not the year I would have guessed. We also lost in OT at Kansas that season. Came close in 2004 too, beat Kansas at home, lost tight games at Texas and at Okie Lite. -- Also NU is one of only 25 teams that has beaten at least 2 different Sweet 16 teams this season: 4 Arizona ** - Mich, Stan, S Diego St, UCLA 4 Wisconsin ** - Mich, Mich St, Fla, UVa 3 Baylor ** - Dayton, Ky, Ia St 3 Duke - Mich, UCLA, UVa 3 Michigan ** - Mich St, Wisc, Stan 3 Michigan St ** - Mich, Wisc. Well at least they achieved 0 of their goals this year. So there's that.
-
Congrats to Coach Smith - tough loss for us, but you had to know it was coming eventually. We're losing a good one
-
Remember when he hit the "game" winning shot from 15 feet during the open scrimmage? It was a beautiful looking shot and a great move. His confidence was never the same once they started practicing & playing for real though. Just swam in the deep end all season. I'm expecting he'll make a big jump from frosh to soph year. Hopefully he stays in Lincoln though.
-
It's Texas. What can you do? I'm not the biggest Roy Williams fan, but I have to give him credit for handling that with class. There are more than a few coaches who would have lost their minds in that spot.
-
Somebody will know this - last time NU has beaten two Sweet 16 teams in the same season previously?
