https://hooplanewsletter.substack.com/p/ucla-usc-wbb-big-ten-23 "Both UCLA and USC are expected to be among the nation’s best this season, a lot in thanks to unproven players with major expectations. The Bruins had the nation’s top class in 2022, then added the No. 1 overall player from that class this offseason. The Trojans already have the top player in 2023, then brought in some veteran Ivy League transfers to help making Watkins’ transition and development as easy as possible. There is so much to be excited about with both of these teams, and that excitement is not expected to wear off as they move to the Big Ten. At this current moment, it feels like both of these teams could immediately become a part of the conference's current upper echelon: Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan and Ohio State. Illinois, Nebraska and Purdue continue to test each of those top teams as is, and there’s a whole lot to be excited about with other Big Ten teams, specifically Penn State with the new addition of Ashley Owusu that will be discussed at length in a future Hoopla. All of this is to say one thing: The Big Ten women’s basketball is already so good, and it is only set to get better in the near future. I hope everyone is as excited as I am to welcome in these new teams, at least in this particular sport."

i'm rather surprised that Keiger hasn't had more success. thought this was a great hire for Penn St. https://www.collegian.psu.edu/sports/women_basketball/predicting-penn-state-women-s-basketball-s-starting-lineup-assessing-full-team-ahead-of-2023/article_7d8a43ea-f904-11ed-bee4-43e439802e3c.html -

Iowa's possible new AD???.... https://sports.yahoo.com/beth-goetz-meeting-iowa-potential-221023256.html -
a multi-sport person like myself, this is a rather disturbing article. i normally subscribe to BigTen+, MidcoSportsplus, and ESPN+. i DO monitor the schedules so if there is a possibility of dropping either MidcoSportsplus and/or espn+ during the season, i will do so. Plus, i do only subscribe during the school year. i hope the author is wrong, but..... https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2023/05/espn-streaming-and-the-rising-cost-of-watching-sports.html "Add it all up, and some sports fans might be paying $400-500 a month — or more! — to watch all the sports we could once (mostly) access through a single cable subscription. There is cosmic justice to this, of course: After all, fans have been enjoying such relatively cheap prices for years thanks to the free ride provided by all those HGTV and VH1 devotees. But as the price to follow your favorite teams gets higher and higher, sports, which is supposed to be a great democratizer, starts to look more and more like something only well-off people will be able to afford to watch. Which is an excellent way to turn off the next generation of fans. How high can streamers, and leagues, push the price point until fans have no choice but to walk away? Put another way, if you are not currently a sports fan, I have a terrific piece of advice for you: Absolutely do not start watching now. It’s too late for me: I’m way too far down the rabbit hole. But if you’re not into sports already, you should stay away — that is, unless you’ve got limitless disposable income to spare. The high times are over. Save yourself."

came across this on youtube (a discussion on Gopher wbb): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XRQZshwde8 in short: Gophers add athleticism, length, and quickness with a few of the new additions. height with 6'5" Sophie Hart (transfer). these two concur that with the new coach, should see the program move forward. with the hotbed the state of minnesota is regarding prep recruits, if DP can show progress in her first year, the doors should at least be open to keep some of the best talent at home. they both agree you can build a Big Ten contender with the in-state talent. of course, it all comes down to putting up more "w's". they believe with the talent minny has and combine that with incoming players, this squad can battle for that 5-6 spot. i'm gonna say Dawn Plitzuweit has the barn rockin' next season and it's going to be tough to win there. won't surprise me if they pull a big upset or two at the barn. i'll say it is almost certain gophs won't be playing on that first day in the big ten tournament. -

i wouldn't doubt a lot of it has to do with the uncertainty of the Pac12. jmo
-
i sure hope you are correct. gonna need it if huskers want to flirt with that 4-5-6 spot.
-
it's great darian white chose the huskers............however, i still think a proven perimeter shooter was essential. just my opinion.

no doubt............she looks much more comfortable out there now. i really hope coach can keep this group together. may be a homer, but, i thought Bergen Reilly looked very good, also. Orr? Reilly? jmo, but i don't think Reilly has far to go to pass Orr---as a freshman. we'll see this fall. -
Highly sought after 5 star prospect Chloe Spreen, leading candidate for 2024 Miss Basketball in Indiana had ton of offers including Indiana and Iowa-----chooses Alabama? Just never know what's going on when it comes to recruiting.
