Going to be hard to keep the big time programs away:

PG Kevin Dorsey from Virginia ...a 2015 Rivals Top 150
The Coach replied to trickey's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Nobody wants to see Miles' demise. We're just disappointed that with our facilities and a Coach of the Year who has won everywhere and coached the Big Ten's leading scorer last year - we're still losing recruiting battles to average programs like Minnesota and Iowa that offer nothing that we can't. I seriously doubt Dorsey picked Minnesota because he was afraid of Tarin Smith. This is a very important recruiting class for us, and when I hear that we are starting to show serious interest in recruits like Billy Wampler and Michael Jacobson, it worries me. -
PG Kevin Dorsey from Virginia ...a 2015 Rivals Top 150

Miles' high-school recruiting is concerning. Even at CSU it seemed like most of his best recruits were transfers (Iverson, Eikmeier, Ogide). I understand not just filling scholarships with questionable recruits - but with Leslee's injury and if Walt & Moses get in foul trouble or injured themselves - I think we'll regret not going harder after a guy like David Wacker. -
Our post defense concerns me. Moses will have to play more than we wanted him to - but remember he has a history of being injury-prone like Leslee, so who knows how he will hold up. Hammond will have to play as well. He may not be physically ready, but oh well. Diaz gave us 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 25 minutes a game as a 215-pound freshman. You have to assume Hammond is tougher than Diaz.

I agree with this. Leslee's injury has made our inability to fill scholarships even more concerning. It's like being on probation. With our lack of depth, if one of our "Big Three" (Terran, Shavon, Walt) goes down, it could be an ugly year.

Andrew White III - Kansas Transfer
The Coach replied to uneblinstu's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
He will visit Virginia Tech next week per the Washington Post. -
I was very impressed with Khyri Thomas when I watched him in the state tournament. I think he's good enough to play at the major-college level.

I'd almost rather Rosenthal not write all these articles about White yet.....will be very disappointing if he doesn't pick us. -

I disagree as I have feeling we are going to land this kid. But don't we always seem to start strongs on kids but can never close on them. Such as Cornish and Deng Or . . . you mean "always" have trouble "closing" on kids like Petteway and Pitchford and Webster and Fuller? To be fair, it does seem like Miles doesn't land many recruits who don't commit on the visit or right after. I can't think of any recruit Miles has signed that took other visits after visiting us and still ended up signing with us. Fuller, Hammond, Petteway, PItchford, Ayegba, Hawkins, and Leslee Smith all committed on or right after their visits. Webster and Tarin Smith committed before visiting. -
He has an offer from Yale, so you know he's a smart kid. I think we could use an outside shooter like him.

If we are picked Top 25 preseason, we should print some "Only RANKED Show in the State" t-shirts

Andrew White III - Kansas Transfer
The Coach replied to uneblinstu's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I like our chances even if he takes several other visits later. Miles has proven he is very good at recruiting transfer players from major-conference schools (Petteway, Pitchford, Ayegba, Colton Iverson, Daniel Bejarano). I think it all comes down to whether he wants to be closer to home, if that's not a big factor then we will be hard to beat. -
He's recently been offered by the likes of Duke, UNC, Michigan State, and UCLA. I don't think we're in it anymore.
-
Octeus was a Eustachy recruit so there is no connection to Miles with him
-
-
But it also sounds like he wants some "bigger" offers. If a program like KU offers, I don't like our chances.
-
If that was true then Marcus Jordan, Michael Jordan's son, would have never gone to Central Florida. Sarcasm? UCF promised Marcus he could wear Jordans and then dropped adidas for Nike.
-
In all seriousness, apparel affiliation may be more important than facilities. Kids love their Nikes. How many high school kids brag about their high school's gym? Compared to how many brag about their gear? It's not a big deal for schools like Kansas and Louisville that have a ton of tradition and put lots of players into the NBA and have legendary coaches. But for schools like us that don't have those things, it's another strike against us.
-
Probably a back-up plan to Morrow and McVeigh. They have to be the top 2 small forwards on our board for 2015. I'd like to see us start bringing in some big guys and outside shooters to visit.

There's a big difference between "showing interest" and actually offering or actively recruiting. Regardless, Moses put up very little production at Georgetown. I'm also skeptical about Kenya because several Georgetown fans I know said JT3 more or less "encouraged" him to leave in order to bring in some better recruiting assistants. Could be sour grapes......but Georgetown has been killing it in recruiting since. They landed Paul White and LJ Peak this year, and already have 3 Top-75 recruits committed for next year. Meanwhile our recruiting has been relatively quiet ever since. The best recruit we got to visit this spring (Cornish) was brought in by Teddy Owens, and he's not even a coach! I was just hoping with all the talent in the DC area and Kenya's connections there, we'd at least be getting some visits. Andrew White would be a good start.
-
Nobody else recruited Ayegba and White hasn't even visited yet. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. With Danny Manning at Wake and Maryland close to his home, I'd think they would be the favorites. I hope Coach Hunter can prove me wrong.

This feels like Myles Turner all over again.

I wouldn't read too much into those comments. I remember reading a preview of our team this year that said Petteway was "dreadful" at Texas Tech and that he and Pitchford would never start for a good team in the Big Ten. White is as good of a player as we can expect to get this late. He was a Top 50 recruit out of high school.
