Gary Gaskins 6'10 PF Transfer
The Coach replied to Brandon4Real_X's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
If he's eligible immediately, I say you absolutely take the risk. It would only be for one year. If his issues affect the team, you boot him like we did Biggs. Travis Ford said he did not have any disciplinary issues, it sounds more like Oklahoma State was just not a good personal fit for him. His story is very much like the kid from The Blind Side, he has no family support and was homeless for a while. I think with the great athletic support system we have here, it could be a great fit for him. Regardless, I really hope this young man can get the help he needs and go on to get a college degree. -

Wow this kid is an incredible story. He was once homeless and lived in his car for 6 months, while studying to become a mechanic. Read more here. He's also not lacking in athleticism: -

Who cares, that's better than an open scholarship. Miles tried recruit him out of JUCO last year, so he obviously saw something he liked. -
Yikes we're almost on Page 20

Picked up offers from Oklahoma State, Cal, and Temple this week

Now Rosenthal says that Creighton did NOT offer. Apparently Jays fans got pretty upset that he tweeted that they offered. Because all know that Creighton only offers big-time recruits like Justin Patton.

Can never have too many tall guys that can shoot IMO. His coach said he's also a great rebounder with a huge wingspan.

Sounds like the next Brandon Ubel. I'm OK with this. -
Andrew White III - Kansas Transfer
The Coach replied to uneblinstu's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I get the feeling that he's been holding out for a Maryland offer/visit this entire time, and that's why he hasn't decided yet. He said after his Notre Dame visit that he hoped to visit Maryland, but I don't think the Terps have officially offered him yet. If they don't, I think he comes here. -

Patton is a project, but so are many of the guys we've offered recently.....Puryear, Roby, Shamet, Jacobson. Patton probably has more potential and upside than any of those guys. Just saying, I remember watching Eliason in high school and thinking he was a valley school level talent. If Patton can put on some muscle he could be a pretty good player.

Point guard is also a major weakness on our roster (or it was last year anyway). We were 342nd out of 351 teams in assists per game last year.

Connie Yori has been pulling in top recruits from all over the nation for a while now, despite the women's program not having any more tradition than the men's. I guess the difference is that she has also had a decent amount of in-state talent as well during her time here. But she has brought in a lot of great recruits from the West Coast it seems. I don't expect us to out-recruit the big-name programs. But we need to start out-recruiting the programs like Iowa, Minnesota, and Penn State. So far, Miles hasn't done that, even though these programs also have newer coaches and very little recent success.

I don't know, it feels like to me that he's holding out for another offer - maybe a school closer to home, like Maryland or VCU. If he really wanted to come here, he would have pulled the trigger by now. I just don't see why you'd drag this out until August unless you were waiting on another school to offer. -

Richard Pitino has also been courtside at all of his games. God I hope he doesn't pick the Gophers. I could understand choosing a program like Duke or Kansas. But watching him play for the Gophers in their crappy old barn would be frustrating. Especially considering both of his parents were Huskers.

PG Kevin Dorsey from Virginia ...a 2015 Rivals Top 150
The Coach replied to trickey's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Richard Pitino hasn't proven anything as a head coach. Yes he's the son of a legendary coach - so were Pat Knight, Sean Sutton, and Keno Davis. Many times these guys are given head coaching jobs that they aren't qualified for because of their famous fathers. Miles' system has won everywhere he's been, and he's done it without any nepotism. The coaching job he did last year to get us to the tournament was amazing. I know that doesn't wipe away 100 years of mediocrity overnight, but you could fill a book with all of the positive press he's gotten in the national media the last 2 years. Even fellow coaches like Izzo and Beilein have praised the heck out of him. You'd think at least one big-time high school recruit would give us a shot. -
PF Eric McKnight - Graduate Transfer (FGCU)
The Coach replied to Shuttlesworth's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
He was recruited by Georgetown out of high school. So Coach Hunter should know him. -
