delaware St. 0-2 vs. Nebraska 1-1 Game Thread
northwillriseagain replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Benny looks more freshman like on offense than our freshmen. -
Listening to Miles' comments recently (don't recall where I heard him talking about it -- Sports Nightly last night, maybe?) it sounds like they have no plans to manipulate the starting lineup for the next several games. Might happen eventually, but not any time soon. So, from the sounds of things, expect to see Tai and Benny and Jake still going at it from the opening tip. But there's pressure on them to combine for more than 6 points and less than 13 turnovers ... Some high standards to hit there..

Can dekker and Kaminsky push off as much as they want. They allowed the whole team to do this last year as well. -

Miles vs. Sadler assistant wages?
northwillriseagain replied to northwillriseagain's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Thanks, you stated it how I meant to, wondering how they stacked up conference and nationally by comparison. Obviously wages have skyrocketed each year to keep up with each other around the NCAA.Spending on a program encompasses a lot more than just how much the assistant coaches were paid. IIRC, Doc started out at about $700,000/year, base salary. Miles started out at double that. Over six years, I think Doc was bumped up to about half of what Miles made this year. Miles assistants, I believe, also make a lot more than Doc's did. It's true, the spending started before Miles got here but Miles is riding a big wave of spending that started after Doc came on board. I agree we have a terrific coach now. You don't have to dump on the last guy in order to fully celebrate the current guy. I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. To me, it's good enough that we're happy with the guy we have. Don't need to build him up by tearing anyone else down. -
Miles vs. Sadler assistant wages?

Miles is paid towards the middle of the road in terms of B1G coaches. Sadler was paid towards the bottom in the B1G/B12. Miles has nearly double the amount of money to put towards assistants that Sadler had. Even accounting for the inflation of basketball salaries we're much more committed financially to the basketball program in the last 4 years than we were for the first decade of this century. (coaches salaries, new arena, new practice facility) I'm unsure of our financial "seriousness" during the 20th century. I hope this was at least a semi-legitimate question as opposed to some agenda to yet again beat on our former coach. It's already been done too much and it's why this is going to receive much more snark than replies. Thanks. Yes it was a legitimate question, I have nothing personal against Doc,Collier, or anyone. I was just wondering if it was more along the lower side on wages. I have many opinions on how the whole Collier & Doc era came to be, but I'm just glad it led to the Miles era. -

I actually only wanted to know the spending comparison between now and post Nee years. Were we competitive in pay? -

Collier leaves town in early August. If I may quote one of the greatest movies of all time: That's the point, Collier Should've never been retained before. It's all due to apathy at the time. -
Miles vs. Sadler assistant wages?

Doc never had the credentials to coach a major conference team. He took a UTEP team built up by a decent coach, & continued with his players. His second year was worse than his first. Too many times, guys ride the coattails of the hot coach that was before them and get hired away before there was ever proof they could at least sustain success. I don't see Doc as anything more than a plan z hire.. A good guy but a below average head coach. -
How much did Docs assistants make compared to Miles? Just trying to see how serious our efforts were to build our basketball team were before Miles.
