Time to put a hold on this topic, kicked the shoes off, grab a cold one (if you can), put red on and start cheering for the good guys.

This is spot on, at least for me. When I coached baseball I told my parents right up front I might chew their son out. I told them when I stopped chewing them out (if they needed it, usually came after a kid made the same mistake over and over) is when they needed to worry, meant I'd given up on kid. Roster turnover was small and never because of correcting a kid.

Watching a game with something on the line is stressful
colhusker replied to PimpMario's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Guys I have no clue what goes into why our staff chose not to offer certain kids from in state. But this conversation reminds me of the ones on the football boards where posters go after for misses. It is very easy to sit and say Bo missed the boat (one of many boats) on Drew Ott given how his career at Iowa played out similar to the names listed above in this thread. I am guessing that had the staff had a crystal ball and could see that a kid who they worked out and not done well would turn into the player Daum did they would have done more to get him to Lincoln. Why it frustrates me to hear folks bitch about a player if he is not starting by the end of his second year of college. For some, the light just takes longer to come on. -

Good point, my thought is there is no reason any kid who plays Div 1 basketball shouldn't make 75% (or better) of their FTs. -
Question from recruiting stand point on in-state

kids and this is not the right place to ask. From a non-division 1 stand point, who are the best players in the state? -

Guess I didn't get stressed out over a game that did not include my favorite team. I have other teams I follow and enjoy watching, heck I even have one I follow HOPING they lose (and no it's not the bluebirds) but I never stress over their games. -
Thought this one would work too. No clue if the song is good, just thought given the last couple weeks the title of it was fitting.

That is better than some folks who were born in this country and have been trying to learn it their whole lives.

Regressed OR slow shot that they could get off vs high school competition but not college competition? -

The same could be said for Patton until right up to the end and then he blew up -
Analytical Breakdown of Random Coach vs. Tim Miles
colhusker replied to aphilso1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Dimes it is just a guy feeling based on a few twitter comments (is that the right terminology for those things?). I have no insider information, just have seen frustration at getting pulled quickly for mistakes while others played on after the same mistake. I really hope I am wrong as I think this kids ceiling is high. -

My gut says we would lose a couple guys IF Miles is let go. My gut says IF Miles is retained, Horne is elsewhere next year (hope I am wrong on this). Keep in mind I made dinner two nights ago and that could be what all the issues with the gut is. -
I know the answer to the question on the tee-shirt for a player who shall not be named but likes orange.

15 years ago or whatever it was when Norm was wandering the sidelines for Missouri I would have not only said no, but hell no. Now I am not sure Missouri is a better gig. They have a nice new area, but PBA is every bit as nice if not nicer. Big 10 is indeed >> $EC. Looking at the two rosters, I would say we have more talent (although whomever comes in at Missouri will have some nice pieces to work with) and finally, how many butts did we have in the seats on SR night? Boys and I went to SR here last Tuesday night and could have sat three rows from the court had we wanted to be that close. Oh and their fans leave early too.

uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: Vol 9, Ed 30 - vs. Michigan

Hey I keep getting told size matters! -
And Creighton has beer

One HAS TO keep in mind that a coach coming in late has to have bodies. That may require taking a couple reaches each of the first couple classes. The names on this list are just that. I think if you look at the current roster you will find less of these kind of kids. It would be hard to know if White improved, he bailed. Biggs had talent, that was not his issue. Pitchford had talent, again not his issue.
