Fred was a little late to the party as Sallis and Hepburn had been contacted by coaches before Fred came to NU and there was not a lot of talent that the top kids would want to play with on the team at that time. Most of the other guys like Tonje, Fidler and Wrightsell were late bloomers. Creighton missed on them too and Mac has a good eye for spotting kids with potential. From what I hear Coach Miles built up pretty good relations with Chucky. Now transfer wise, you can say we might have missed but who knows how that ever plays out.

It still amazes me even sports writers don't realize how difficult it is to make the NCAA tournament. They see 64 (now 68) teams making it so must be easy not taking into account how many automatic bids go out to conference winners and if there are upsets it takes even more spots. Add in the Big East conference and others that don't have football and teams like Gonzaga, San Diego State, St Mary's the field gets very crowded.

I think Johnson was handcuffed with a lack of NIL money. He did the best he could with the talent he brought in. Why does this sound familiar?

A good set of NIL questions. I'm sure most of us are wondering the same thing. The way things are going the answer to those questions will change year to year unless someone sets rules that all schools must follow but the reason we are in this situation is because schools were not following the rules set down by the NCAA and the NCAA did not consistently enforce the rules.

I think we can copy and paste this statement for every basketball player today. ( at about any level)
