Step Aside, NIL. NCAA Is Here To Save College Sports
Vinny replied to HuskerFever's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
We should approach Uber or Lyft to be a sponsor and as part of the deal, they offer free rides to athletes and coaches anytime. Especially for the kids, they’re about to have a bunch more money but still have underdeveloped frontal cortices. -
Fred “The Shot Whisperer” Hoiberg found a couple things to fix in Worster’s stroke. Chalk him up for 36-38% from three.
-
I wouldn’t be surprised to have 9 or 10 in the rotation, if those players are bringing positive play to the court. We had 8 last year and I think Ulis and Keita, would have found minutes if they didn’t have things keeping them off the court.

I get the sense we want Gary playing less of the 4 this year. If Berke is the defender Fullbacksympathy described over the Berke is N thread, then I think you see him start. This is who I think will start and the players I think that will also get minutes at those spots depending on matchups/foul trouble. 1 - Worster (Ulis, Sam) 2 - Brice (Essegian, Sam) 3 - Gary (Griffiths, Brice) 4 - Berke (Gary, Morgan) 5 - Morgan (Meah, Berke) Starting, that’s two real three point threats and two guys you have to at least respect on the perimeter. And it’s three playmakers on the perimeter/wing. No one under 6’ 4” in the starting lineup. Any Berke minutes at the 5 would be due to foul trouble or an opponent going very small. Meah provides a defensive spark off the bench inside, while Sam brings it on the perimeter. Griffiths and Essegian provide shooting and more length off the bench. If Essegian is back to his freshman form, he could knock Berke out of starting and move Brice and Gary to the 3 and 4. But again, I don’t think we want to start with Gary at the 4.

Just a minute? Honestly pry not different from most other campuses.

Those legs have no hair. NONE.

It’s the Aqua Velva/Just for Men combo. A scent that is subconsciously attractive to cougars in dive bars and basketball players under 22.

There has never been equity and equality between schools. Now it’s just happening on top of the table instead of underneath. -
You trying to shake things up?!
-
Even better, have everyone wear a wrist band on their dominant hand. If the wrist band is on the right hand, they’re not a Husker basketball recruit.

You won't believe this. Berke is left-handed.
-
Somehow he’s keeping his daily three hour show? Like Michael Scott moonlighting and selling diet pills.
-
Exactly.

I see this being like the NBA adopting the in-season tournament this past year. We’ll pay attention in November and by March no one will care.
-
You’re right. I even said they aren’t perfect. I mentioned Covid years still playing a role. But even if you’re in your 7th year, you have 4 years of eligibility, unless you still have your Covid year. You aren’t playing 7 full seasons. So that 7th year would essentially be your senior year for the fourth time. Your school doesn’t get a 14th scholarship to keep you around, either. You count as one of 13 the whole time.

This is upsetting. Hopefully it gets sorted out soon.

I know there’s walkons in the portal but they have to be a small percentage. With all of our portal activity under Hoiberg, how many have been walkons? Even Easley was on scholarship by the time he transferred. And I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, just a reality. I was more pointing out for those who are concerned about how much we use it, we’re using it about as much as the overall average in Division I.
-
Okay, I looked it up now that players can’t enter the portal and over 2,000 Division I players entered the portal. 351 schools * 13 scholarships = 4,563. That’s almost 44% of all scholarship players. If you consider ~ 1/4 of the scholarships are incoming freshman who are not portalling, that puts you at 58% of non-freshmen with eligibility left in the portal. I know there are still some extra covid years hanging around, and some players move up and down divisions so these numbers aren’t perfect, but they’re close. We had 6/10 non-freshman scholarship players with eligibility left leave. We should expect this level of portal activity going forward since it’s so close to the average.

I agree that it doesn’t REQUIRE labels like that, but we all know the type of player we’re short on and would like one more of, right? So in that way we have a specific need to fill that we can label.
-
Maybe when we play at Purdue. I’m sure they have a new giant ready to go now that Edey is gone.
-
I read this as “We can leverage our position on TV to make our media deals worth more, but you can’t.” And show me a press conference where the backdrop isn’t just a banner for advertisers.

They’re predictions. They’re for fun.
