We’ve been torched from deep the last two games, but we know that it is a possibility. I feel though like we’re being a bit harsh on our defense because right now it’s the only thing that can win us games. We need work every where and it’s mostly going to come from effort and all five guys working together for 40 minutes, not just for parts of games.

We’ve gotten our shit handed to us by two of the conferences power houses. Outside of that we’ve lost an overtime game against a good not great team at home and a two point loss to a team that looks better every week at a neutral site. I’d say we’re doing okay. Nobody would have beaten Purdue today with the shots that are falling for them. Any defense will look bad when an offense can go 4/4 on 15 foot contested push shots.

How many shitty push shots can they make?

The physicality is one thing, them making straight trash shots is compounding it.

I agree. Perception is still a big part of it. Maybe being unranked helps you in a game or two if your opponent isn’t taking you as seriously as they should, but overall it helps the program more to be considered among the best. Do people trust that your record is real, or do they think you’re a fluke? Right now we have one tourney appearance in ten years, and have still never won a game there. If we were Duke with this exact schedule and results, we would have started the season ranked and we likely wouldn’t have ever dropped out of the top 20. Now if we make the tourney again this year, fare better there, and start next year 12-2, we’re pry safely ranked at that point.
