Our body language and urgency changed after the last Oregon timeout. Do not get complacent. -

They gave Rollie a two for that? -

If we don't turn the ball over 10+ times we will win. Right now Oregon is not preventing us from running away with this game. We're preventing ourselves from doing it. Make the simple play. -

That was not a foul on Morgan -
It did feel similar to the beginning of the 2014-15 season with Petteway as "the guy". Had a bit of national hype, ranked #21 in the nation, then completely fell apart. Last year was different. Keisei garnered some national attention, but it was basically the national media subtly mocking him and Nebraska, not taking us seriously. So we were still the misfit underdogs in a way. And Keisei may have been "the guy", but Mast was every bit as valuable and important to the team. Brice, Juwan and Allick were right there too.

Protect home court and get one of the five remaining road games. That’ll do it

Like Cooper Flagg?

We're better on both ends of the floor with Juwan at the 4. And much better spacing offensively, more room for Brice to operate with a more skilled 5 on the court. I think the combination of those two things just leaves him in a Keita-type sporadic/situational minutes role. -

Still didn’t make shots, and we had more open ones in this game than we’ve had in awhile. But much better defense and only 6 turnovers. That’s the ticket for this team. -

Why did we act like we needed to fire up a shot asap there. We had a whole damn shot clock -

The four step step-back shouldn’t be a thing in college basketball -

Outside of Rollie I think all the others were within the flow of the offense -

Juwan is not blocking out whatsoever. Illinois has 50 rebounds. Inexcusable -

We’ve had sooo many good looks tonight. Just not making any of them outside the lane. -

I haven’t been this frustrated with the officiating in awhile. They are not calling the same contact on both ends. We shouldn’t have twice as many fouls as Illinois right now. -

Connor had a good block out. Got pulled down to the ground, then got called for the foul. -

Jeff Anderson really sucks. The inconsistency on calling and not calling illegal screens in the Big Ten is maddening. -

My underrated moment was in the first half when we cut it to 3 and had the momentum. Then Brice came back in the game and had two quick lazy turnovers and a lapse on defense. It was pretty much over after that. During this losing skid he's made so many negative game changing plays. A team shouldn't be better with their best offensive player on the bench, but that's where we're at. Juwan doesn't get a pass either. A lot of talk about him missing layups, but his on-ball perimeter defense and defensive rebounding has been really bad this year (even in December). I'm not buying the injury or physical limitation theory. He still jumps high when he decides to and pushes people around when he decides to. He just doesn't decide to do those things very often this year. He's often standing straight legged on defense. -

So disheartening. I thought our first 9 conference games would be a tough stretch. But as long as we kept our head above water through the Wisconsin game we'd be ok because the last 11 look pretty favorable to go on a nice run, as we did the last two seasons. Unfortunately, we seem to be a completely broken team and nothing is going well on either end of the court. We have poor leadership on the floor and our coaches haven't figured out how to push the right buttons. If we could somehow figure it out, there are a whole lot of winnable games left on the schedule (6 homes games and the 5 road games are collectively "easier" than the first 5 conference road games). But it's hard to have any faith right now. -

Brice is really freaking killing us on both ends. This would be a one possession game if he never came back in the game. -

Three unguarded 3s in Wisconsin’s first 5 possessions. They weren’t even moving the ball. Tonje just standing there wide open. -
He’s really only had two bad conference games shooting wise. 0-6 vs UCLA and 0-2 vs Michigan State. In the other games he’s shooting 44.4%. Iowa and Purdue were below average games for him, but he shot 50% or higher in each of the other four conference games. I don’t really like continuing to compare the two players, but looking at game logs that’s better consistency shooting the ball than Keisei (while shooting the exact same volume of attempts).

No. There’s been multiple games now where his perimeter defense was better than other players who should be much better defensively than Connor. We’re better overall with him on the court.

I don’t think Saint Thomas would make this team better. He’s not a good shooter, not a good ball handler and is turnover prone. He’s big and physical, but that’s not really what we need.
