The problem I have with all of this is that would it be automatic that a different coach would have won these last two games if placed in a similar situation? We are down 2 scholarship guys from where we started this year. Excuse? Sure. The truth? Yes. Is Miles out of excuses? Maybe. The way I see it, the expectations have increased. Which they should, but I don't think there's any way a team in any of our previous regimes would be expected to win two league games down 2 guys. We weren't in the winning conversation before even at full strength. A league game was just a loss going in most of the time. I don't believe in moral victories because they don't count in the W column, but we've now played every single one of our league games within 8 points. It's hard to ignore the competitive nature of this team, look at the makeup of the roster, and be eager to get rid of Miles. That's just me. Wouldn't make any sense in my opinion. I've watched to much Nebrasketball to just assume that they next guy isn't going to have the same struggles. Some people just assume the next guy is the right answer. These last two two games are making things difficult to swallow. Ohio State. Rutgers. Two everyone thinks we should've had. Maybe it would be easier to just go back to being blown out.

Sounds like Copeland is on board (N)

Well not to be a wiener but Ed actually had problems with both feet last year. You're right, one foot was a plantar fasciitis and the other foot was a stress reaction/fracture. For Ed's sake I'd rather him be injury free but since he's got the injury already I'd prefer it to be something he actually did to his foot on a particular play versus one of the things he had last year. Both of those options are more lingering wear and tear overuse injuries. We want those issues to be behind him.

I'm sure it is

Question. No disrespect to Nick Fuller and everything he's given to the program. But if he graduates, the university has paid for his degree, can't Miles just decide not to put him on scholarship next year? One year deals right? I'm not suggesting that Miles would be an a-hole or anything, but maybe a 'mutual' agreement to not take up a scholarship next year?

With the patellar tendon there are many more question marks than a typical knee surgery such as an ACL. A lot of people will just kind of put Gill's issue in the typical 'knee surgery' category and think he'll just have surgery, have a recovery period, and be back. That is not the case. If he comes back (patellar tendon rupture can be career threatening), there will be serious questions about what level he is able to return to. I know it's football, but read this about the injury: http://www.espn.com/blog/stephania-bell/post/_/id/3320/jimmy-grahams-road-to-recovery

Yes. What he did to his knee is sometimes career threatening.

Unless he just wants to go home no matter how bad the hometown team is. But yes that should help. In theory. -
Maybe the newspaper will inform me when it hits the porch in the morning. Or not.

Very soon like before you go to bed tonight.

Things sound real good but they always do until they don't. I would expect to hear something very soon.

In the postgame Kent and Matt called out the crowd (which I don't disagree with). They basically said that this game proved that here at Nebraska it takes the team rolling to get the crowd going. In this game it was the crazy run at the end of the first half that got the crowd into it. Then Kent said that in other arenas at schools where basketball is the thing that the crowd really generates the hostile environment, especially on the defensive end, and that it just starts out that way and doesn't take the team to get the crowd going. They said that PBA should've been way crazier, especially when there was about 8 minutes to go and we were just a possession or two off the lead. i don't disagree with any of these things they said. My question is what is the university going to do to promote a more hostile environment in men's basketball? it was a bit better today with Miles buying the tickets but Thursday was a joke with Iowa fans sitting in our student section. That shouldn't ever happen in an arena that is nearly sold out. Visitors shouldn't be able to buy seats down there at face value from the university. I can handle it if they go to stub hub and buy an expensive pair, but that clump of Iowa fans were able to just go to Huskers.com and buy those since it was a student free game. How about giving 200/300 level actual Husker basketball fans the opportunity to trade in their season tickets for those games for maybe $5? Pack the floor section with basketball fans who want to be there and sell tickets to Iowa/visitors up in the nosebleeds.

I'm worried about legs tomorrow. Northwestern is going to play a style that requires us to play defense for 28 seconds before they shoot. It's going to be a grind.
-
Yesterday he said 4 but that's pretty good because he was only off by 4. How many did we get? 8 right?

So...Mike Schaefer apparently jumped the gun...sounds like Copeland left town without officially committing. He's headed home to talk it over with the family before deciding between NC State and Nebraska. I'll just shut up until there's multiple parties reporting a more definitive answer.

Basketball isn't soccer. But while we're at it, what's with Michigan's kits? Or at least the ones they wore today against Iowa. The tops had a wrestling singlet look to them. Seems like things are rolling back a few years especially with some of the shorter shorts some are wearing. -
I just hope we keep playing this win the game defense.
