  1. If you aren't listening to radio broadcast, Davison said that a Northwestern fan told him before the game "This is our favorite officiating crew. They always take care of us." So that's awesome.
  2. I will take the positive outlook: I feel much better going into Saturday's game after this outcome than I would had we battled all game and lost by 7 at the end. Our guys will play with their hair on fire on Saturday. If they don't, they wouldn't be playing college athletics. Huskers get it done on Saturday! Look for us to put forth the same effort Michigan did last night, although we probably won't shoot it as well. I will be SEVERELY disappointed if we don't play with a chip on our shoulder Saturday.
  3. So, Michigan is a team without much of a post presence, so our defensive gameplan is to let them shoot open 3s rather than make them try and beat us inside? Am I correct with thy statement? I thought this was why Miles was so confident, because we could match up with these guys...
  4. Don't care at all for Crean. He must pace about 10 miles during the course of a game for as much as he moves, and I could do without him being 3 feet on the court when the ball is on his own half of the court.
  5. That is awesome; thanks Dimes. What I liked was Kent pointing out that when he hit the 3, we had 2 freshmen and 3 sophomores on the floor. Markowski was on 1480 yesterday afternoon, talking abut 4 or 5 more years to make the dance. I'm way more optimistic than that. Lol I love Andy, but what is he talking about? Petteway is taking us to the tournament. We have a superstar on our team and a good enough supporting cast that will only get better next year and the year after.
  6. I highly doubt that your one game at a time mentality has made the horrible defeats any less painful. The only way it becomes less painful is if you don't care as much anymore, like me with Nebraska football.
  7. Agreed. That's for the team. We aren't the team. We can dream. If you don't want to be a dreamer, don't crush ours! I'll let the team do that instead. Then when they don't crush it someday, that's when it will have all been worth it.
  8. That's a good point. We could also be tied for 7th in the conference with a win tomorrow. This season is far from over.
  9. Will TV cameras now have a "Fran Cam" where every breath he takes is shown and every time he frowns the announcers will say he's lost control of everything ever?
  10. Everyone knew he was on his last chance. This is not the administration tying Miles' hands. Not even close.
  11. Their fanbase is embarrassing. Their mods should be ashamed to leave that thread on their board and let that drivel continue.
  12. Yep..our savior who had 1 season left. Meanwhile our sophomore put up 35 last night but he's no D Biggs.
  13. Stop paying for his schooling for one.
  14. Well said, Norm. It will be interesting to see how Creighton fares in the next few years. I'm sure Butler fans 1-2 years ago never would have thought that they wouldn't be able to compete in a major conference. They're not doing so hot right now. Creighton has a lot more resources than Butler, but Butler did also go to back-to-back National Championship games. That was just 2 seasons ago (crazy).
  15. You have paid zero attention to how bad the MVC is this year if you are making that statement. There are seven teams in that league outside of the top 100 rpi while the Big East has seven in the top 100. The Big East has the second most top 100 wins ranking just behind the ACC, which, by the way, has five more teams. There isn't a metric out there that will tell you that the Big East isn't one of the top five basketball conferences this year other than someone with a bias trying to start some junk on a message board. What website are you using? CBSSports.com says the Big Ten has 30 top 100 wins, while the Big East has 21. Top 25 record: Big East 2-13, Big Ten 5-13 26-50 record: Big East 6-8, Big Ten 6-2 51-100 record: Big East 13-4, Big Ten 19-8 Total: Big East 21-25, Big Ten 30-23
  16. This is worse than made up Creighton fans making made up statements about one seeds. 6 of the 10 teams have at least 8 overall losses. Nebraska has 9 losses (most of them to ranked teams) and is considered a generally awful team by your very own fanbase. Butler, DePaul, St. John's, Georgetown, Marquette and Seton Hall would have to have incredible turnarounds to get to the NCAA Tournament. It's very likely the A-10 gets at least as many bids as the Big East and possibly more. Creighton, Villanova are legit teams. Xavier and Providence are good teams. (Both have 5 losses though, they're comparable to a Minnesota in the Big Ten). The rest are outside the top 70 in the RPI (rpiratings.com).
  17. Just thought it was interesting that he would consider us one of the top 36 teams in the nation...not often that we receive anything close to that. Meaningless, yeah, but noteworthy, I think so. Sorry if you disagree.
  18. Why would he say this? 1. Ariz 2. Syr 3. Fla 4. Kan 5. Wich St 6. Mich 7. Mich St 8. Iowa 9. SDSU 10. Ok St 11. Kent 12. Nova 13. Cincy 14. Wisc 15. Okl 16. Mem 17. Lou 18. UMass 19. Iowa St 20. St. Lou 21. UConn 22. Pitt 23. Duke 24. Creighton 25. Texas. Tied for 26th: Ohio St, Gonzaga, Minn, Nebraska, La Tech, Prov, VCU, Virginia, Toledo, Xavier, K State This is actually what he submitted for his AP poll last night. Obviously we're nowhere close to being ranked. So did he just try and feed Twitter trolls? (Matt Perrault was first to respond, shockingly). Or did he not hear about the Penn State game? By his poll, our losses are to #6, #8, #13, #18, #24, #26, and then UAB, Purdue and Penn State. In his opinion, the Big Ten pecking order right now is: 1. Michigan 2. Michigan State 3. Iowa 4. Wisconsin 5. Ohio State 6. Minnesota 7. Nebraska 8-12. Indiana, Purdue, Northwestern, Illinois, Penn State I mean, I guess I would like our chances against each of the 5 below us on a neutral court...
  19. Ok, maybe I exaggerated slightly but then I read things like "Tim Miles has absolutely nothing to work with...they have absolutely dreadful players on their team...Petteway just throws up shots hoping they'll go in" and then I really don't think my assumptions are too far off. Petteway is 3rd in the Big Ten at 18.2 ppg behind 2 future NBAers. He is shooting 46% on FG, 39% on 3PT and 84% on FT. Not Dougie fresh numbers certainly, but far off from throwing up prayers.
  20. Can you really trust a fanbase's basketball knowledge when they claim Michigan is an "average" basketball team after they barely beat us? How is that working out? They have unparalleled amnesia up in Omaha. They don't see how their blowout win at Villanova doesn't put them in the top 10 this week, let alone on track for a 1 seed! They completely forget their games like at Providence. I wish I had that ability to forget all our pathetic games. Villanova was less competitive against the Jays than we were, and we were on the road. But all you will hear is Nova is a legit top 5 team and NU is the worst major conference team in the country and the only wins we get are complete flukes. (Sorry Dimes.)
  21. Like Petteway? Of course, my response above was posted before tonight's game. But I hear a lot of whining on the recruiting forum about not ever recruiting a stud. But I'm telling you, Miles did just that with this guy. He is excellent, and may have a versatile game that can play the 2 in the NBA. Shoots it well, and is a beast in transition. Can defend, can get his own shot. There are some recruits who are not 4 or 5 stars when signed, but end up at that level. Petteway is one of them. Now, let's get some more. So I answer, to the question "when are we gonna land a stud who actually comes in and steals the show?": We did, in the summer of 2012. I love Petteway and he has more upside than any Husker I can remember in a long time. But I was talking about recruiting players. I know in the end it makes no difference. Yeah Petteway is our guy, but I'm greedy. I want a senior in high school to want to come here and be "the guy." I suppose it's going to take Petteway leading is to the tourney before other players his caliber take note.
  22. I thought groups of players lived together? How is it that he doesn't have roommates to get him out of bed or to team meetings on time?
  23. That's what I was trying to get at.
  24. Is what we would be right now had Leslee tipped in a 1 ft shot against Michigan and had we not dropped our underpants in the final seconds at Penn State. That's how big of a difference a few seconds can be in basketball. Sometimes it takes a young team a little longer to learn this. I hope they recognize this, and I hope it burns them to do better, to finish games. We are right there, but at the same time, we need someone to take charge and make this team figure it out. At the end of this season we're probably going to be wondering what could have been. I hope next year is the year we don't leave ourselves wondering that.
  25. Petteway is our future. Let's improve or supporting cast.
