While I am really really really really happy we got Webster... Lets give the kid some time to adapt before we crown him. Biggs will have had over a year under Miles when the season starts and he was brought in to play point.

The gripe is simple: I don't want to have to go to two places to get my Nebrasketball news. I would rather go to 1. Maybe I just should have posted a thread titled: Big News Over at the Recruiting Board! Believe it or not recruiting is a different kind of (fan)atic. I don't care at all about who we offered or watching some high school kids videos. But I do want to know when we got a recruit. On Huskermax for instance when we get a big recruit it it posted on the main board. That saves me and others from having to go to the recruiting board.

I assume there is some distinction there... or why they would do that... Either way, I don't like it but I wouldn't mind hearing a reason.

I can understand that we don't want to clog up the main board with people posting about our newest offer or the a highlight video of such and such recruit. That makes perfect sense. I wouldn't want to reach about most of that stuff and I am glad there is a recruiting board. But when Nebrasketball gets a huge recruit and I have to hear about it from my wife AFTER I check this board twice, that is ridiculous. On most college sports boards they have an accompanying recruiting board but when major news about a recruit happens it will usually be posted in the main board. It is not like we are going to get 25 commitments for the 2014 seasons. If we are lucky only 1 or 2 more. AND it is not like there is much else to talk about. I have used this board as my source for Nebrasketball news and always wished there were a front page like huskermax for basketball. On a sarcastic note: I think we need a separate board for talk about NU facilities. All the talk about the arena and practice facility has gotten in the way of the in depth analysis of the board. :-p

Yeah. I think they talked about basketball first because the finalized the deal first. It was a small tidbit that I think most people would ether gloss over or not realize the importance of; which is why I wanted to highlight it. I think this is a good decision and should be used in the future. And yeah, 2020 and 2025 is a long ways off. I hope all of my loved ones will be around for those games but I know there is a good chance they won't be.

Jimmykc according to the article you are wrong. Both series were done together as part of the same deal.

Brilliant. We apparently used football to entice Cincinnati to play us in basketball! We all knew about the home-and-home basketball series but I didn't realize it was tied to the football series. We are doing home and home in both sports. Would love to see more of this! Duke? North Carolina? etc! Maybe we can steal 5th place. I don't see us winning our first round game. UMass is a good team out of the A-10.

But the first thing we need to do is finish those near misses. Close that gap and that's 3 to 5 games from last year, suddenly, that season takes on a whole different feel. You close that gap with better talent, and if what we're hearing about the guys coming in is only halfway true, they've improved the talent from last year. Will that translate into wins? Time will tell, but the Big Ten won't be as strong as it was last year and NU should be stronger than it was. It's not unreasonable to expect some of those games to tip in favor of the Big Red. I hear ya but its not usually that simple. The games against better opponents that we almost won were ugly and it was usually due to the other team having a bad game. I would argue that they simply weren't up to play us. If we start doing better than we will get more respect and we won't be able to sneak up on MSU or Wisky.

I have a question for the sunshine pumpers. When we were getting our butts handed us to us last year in games did you guys actually watch the game or turn it off? We are still in the B1G. It seems to me like some of you are only remembering the near misses last year and not the blowouts.

Creighton is a top 15 program that we have to play on the road. Expecting to beat them is setting yourself up for disappointment. I would also posit that there is a huge difference between 6th and 7th place. 6th place gets you a decent shot to go dancing. 7th place would be NIT or even a lower tournament than that if the league it down. I guess we would hope for 7th but expecting us to get higher or finish .500 just seems crazy.

LOL what? I can get board with wanting to make the NIT... but seriously you think we should beat Creighton and finish at least 7th in the B1G? That is crazy.

See that is the crazy thing about the clearinghouse. They could say they have issues with his credits lining up. Or the institution they came from. Or that he can't produce enough evidence that he actually earned the credits. Here is the really devious thing. What if everything with Tai is great and above board AND the NCAA clears him but not until December? Or what if it takes until February? That doesn't help us a whole lot; at least for this year. Now, I am secretly getting more excited he will get cleared in time for the start of fall semester but I am only basing this secret excitement off of others peoples excitement. If you press a gun to my head I would say he has a better than 50% of being clear by start of fall semester. But publicly I want to keep up my pessimistic "don't get your hopes up" attitude.

::shrug:: I was under the impression that Tai would come and enroll and go to classes before being cleared... he just can't play (be coached) with the team until he is cleared. Just because Miles thinks he will get cleared doesn't mean he will. And more importantly it doesnt mean he will be cleared by any certain deadline. It could be weeks or months... who knows. Until then I will keep the champagne on ice with the cork firmly on. But I will be the first to spray it everywhere if Tai is cleared.

Do you know or have heard something we have not or are you just being a pessimist? When it comes to Basketball and getting recruits good to go I have no faith. I am just being pessimistic. I really don't want to get my hopes up about Tai. Sadly I am worried we would be waiting months to hear from the clearinghouse.

You guys are setting yourselves up for a hard fall. I still don't think there is any chance that Tai ever steps on the floor for dear ole' NU.

I have no confidence in vouch or smith. To start the year shields and ray will be big contributors. After that I think fuller, Biggs, and pettaway will play some serious minutes. Other than that I think any other predictions are guesses.

Norm, your statement actually made me laugh. So what you are saying is that Vooch will be somewhere between all american and never leaving the bench? Do you think he will see 10 mins a game averaging 4 points and 5 rebounds or 2 mins a game?

I don't know crap about shoe companies. Is there a relatively concise article or thread that talks about Adidas/Nike concerning Nebraska atheletics?

It is hard for me to get excited about a transfer that I have never seen play.... I am not saying he won't be great and be a team leader but it is just hard for me to get over the transfer part.

As a resident of Omaha I can see it both ways. I hate the Qwest/Clink with a burning passion. I think it sucks and it is a terrible venue to watch basketball or any other event. Having said that I am also not to fond of Dentist University that plays there. So it is easy for me to identify with people in Lincoln when they feel like angst about the arena. As a huge Nebrasketball fan from Omaha I want there to be an N on the side of the arena. It will help the arena, it will help the university and it will help the basketball teams. I am coming from outside Lincolns tax base to spend my money in their city. Guess what I am coming for, the Huskers! Go Big Red!

I have held my tongue for so long. I check these boards daily hoping to see some good news and fearing I will see bad news. I feel like an abuse victim. I am just waiting to be punished again. I have absolutely zero faith that Webster will ever suit up for the Big Red. This. Wait. Sucks. Serious. Balls. I. Can. Not. Take. It. Anymore!

Maybe on a sweet 16 team. For us he will probably be a started for a minimum of 2 seasons.
