  1. I looked up Lue's sophomore year stats and he led the team in scoring in 13 of the 16 conference games. He averaged 21 PPG in conference play. If Watson can do that, this team will be dancing next year.
  2. Ever since I saw Glynn Watson play, I keep having images of Tyronn Lue. He seems to be a dead ringer for Lue. Glynn is 6' and 165 pounds. Lue as a freshmen was 6' 165 pounds. Lue averaged 8.5 PPG, 3.0 RPG, and had a 1.5 A/TO ratio. Watson is averaging 8.3 PPG, 1.8 RPG, and has a 2.58 A/TO ratio. The reason I thought about the similarities is because of that jumpshot of Watson. It is almost identical to Lue's mid range jump shot.
  3. This is 2 out of the last 3 years that Iowa has tanked going down the stretch. Nebraska got hot right when Iowa went cold 2 years ago. They went from NCAA tournament lock to playing in the 1st four that year. They started 19-6 and 8-4 in the Big 10, finished by losing 5 of their last 6 regular season games, and loss to Northwestern in the Big 10 tournament. Last year, they loss their first game in the Big 10 tournament to Penn State.
  4. Thank you, that is exactly what I was referring to. Miles had no option to not play Benny this season. You said in a previous post that Bakari was a better point guard than Benny. At this point in time that is not true. Now, you are saying he had NO option but to play Benny. That make NO sense. You are saying Bakari isn't an option to play this year, but he is the better point guard? I'm saying Miles can't not play Benny from the stand point that it kills team chemistry and divides the team. Not something you can take a chance at after what happened last year with the team. I think we are arguing over two different things. Right at this very minute, in Parker's senior year, and Bakari's freshmen year, I am saying Parker is a better point guard than Bakari. I believe that by Bakari's senior year, he will be a much better point guard than Benny was at Nebraska. I will even say that Bakari as a freshmen is better than Benny as a freshmen. Experience is a great teacher. Benny brings quite a bit to the table. He is a floor general, but limited offensively, but a pest on the defensive end. He handles the ball really well (has a 1.86 A/TO ratio) His size limits his ability to get to the rim, and he isn't a great shooter. However, he was better than he has been in previous years shooting where teams had to respect him. Watson is a scoring point guard. He is much more aggressive, can get to the rim. Has a little more height. One thing Watson needs to do is work on his shooting and get more arc on his shots. It seems he has worked on it this year, but at times his shot still is flat. He is a great ball handler and can distribute the ball (has a 2.58 A/TO ratio). He has to add some muscle, and be able to score through contact. Bakari has struggled this year in a lot of areas. He has been dreadful from 3. He has 4 assist to 8 turnovers (part of that is playing in mop-up minutes with players who struggle to score). He also needs to get stronger, and develop a game to get to the rim. I think he very much could be a player similar to Gessell by the time his career is over.
  5. I'm one of those fans that really want to see Hammond turn it around next year, much like Webster did between his sophomore and junior campaigns. I see flashes from him like against Tennessee and Penn State, where he just took over some games. Let's look at last year, not knowing about this year and rank the players. Petteway Shields Pitchford Rivers Benny T. Smith L. Smith Webster Fuller Abraham Hammond Webster would be down towards the bottom last year, now he is 3rd or 4th on the team depending on how you rate them. Granted, it hurts this year's team for our tallest player to be 9th or 10th on the roster, but Tai shows what kind of turnaround one can have in a year's time.

  7. Shields White Webster Watson Morrow Parker Jacobson McVeigh Hammond Fuller Bakari
  8. I bet you'll like them more when we win the tournament.
  9. We just need to hit some shots. We started by hitting only 1 of 7 from 3, ended by hitting 6 of our last 9.
  10. Benny's defense on Sanders was huge. Limiting him to 3 of 12 from the floor, one being a ridiculous step back 3 against Tai is pretty good defense. I think Bakeri will be a very nice player for us if he sticks around. Benny is a good role player. He could guard, but has his limitations. Benny was a point guard, and he is a power conference point guard. I don't know if he is a starter on an NCAA tournament team, but he would provide most power 5 teams, with a decent 15-20 minutes a game.
  11. Working on his jump shot would make him almost lethal at the 4.
  12. They can replace Incarnate Word and Samford.
  13. Why did it take so long to start to play like this? We actually look competent in the 2nd half.
  14. A nice little run, now keep it going and don't let Rutgers have hope. This is a Rutgers team that can't shoot and can't defend. They have 2 players that are 4 of 5 from 3, they are normaly 31% 3 point shooters.
  15. Hammond has played well. Might be nice to have some fresh legs in the post tomorrow night and give Ed another day off. We just gotta make it there. I think Ed against Rutgers would be a guy that could dominate them. In fact, he has averaged 10 points and 5 rebounds against them in 2 games.
  16. Need to take control to start the 2nd half and put this game to bed. We are a better team. We have hit our last 2 3's (One by Tai, and one by White). Need to start draining some 3's.
  17. It doesn't seem like Rutgers is getting many calls when they attack the rim, either. One of the better officiated halves in a long time. Hopefully, these refs can string together another half.
  18. I hope it comes in the 2nd half. We just need to make a shot from outside, to get us going.
  19. We have no outside game right now. We are just throwing up bricks from the outside.
  20. Need to make a run to put this game away.
  21. Not so fun fact: Our lowest offensive output in conference prior to Shields' injury was 65 to Maryland. After Shields' injury we scored over that one time against Penn State, at home in our only win in that span.
  22. My preseason expectations was about 15 wins overall and 6 in conference. After the MSU win, I thought maybe 9 wins in conference.
  23. IMO, it needs to be up to the kids. I don't want to be known as the team that runs kids off. I don't think Miles wants to be known as that coach, either. At the end of the season, he will tell the players what they can expect. They probably won't get much playing time. Hammond's problem is off the court. He was playing well early in the season until he had to take care of a personal matter (I'm assuming academics). If he got 25 minutes, and kept his pace, he would average 5.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Add to that 1.4 blocks, he would be what we need, a decent player that could clean the glass. Even if we get Jordy, he is not going to give us much more than that during his freshman year.
  24. Well, timing isn't his strong suit. The Omaha World-Herald did previews for the Summit League Baseball (UNO), Big East Baseball (Creighton) and Big Ten baseball (Nebraska). They do these on 3 different days. So, the Big 10 Preview comes up and Shatel has an article about Creighton baseball in their new league. I was not very pleased. If you want to get on your knees for Creighton baseball, then do it on the day of Big East baseball Preview.
  25. Actually the reason we got back into it was because Hass, Swanigan, and Hammonds had 2 fouls each. We were able to get inside, and guard them. Why would we go to a 2-3 zone without those guys in there? It would be stupid. In order to press you have to make shots, and we look like we never shot the ball before. We are in a shooting funk. It started when White injured his shoulder.
