there was a friend of mine from Charlotte who got an offer to play football for Peru State. He needed a full scholarship and they only offer partial scholarships, ones that cover 3,000 of the 5,000 tuition. They ended up signing like 35 kids in that recruiting class but my friend stayed local and ended up playing at Wingate where he got a full ride. Can't believe to this day they didn't give that kid a full ride, would've been the best player they had in a long long time. its insane, but than NAIA is kinda crazy in its own right, when i played football there 3 years ago back in 09-11 i was one of three kids who played football in the Metro, class A, we had 7 who played class A in lincoln the rest were small towns, and out of staters that were never gonna stay there, they refuse to recruit class a metro football and its ridculous. its the reason why Hastings and every other school kills them whenver we played them. you played at peru state? any idea where i can get some cheap Peru State gear online? My brother and I actually like to follow them even though we have no real affiliation with the university. How did you like your time there?

Reason # 2354 why I don't like to watch the NBA
seaofred92 replied to Silverbacked1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Hey, seaof, have you talked to your mom about the controversy with Julie Hermann being hired as the Rutgers AD? They were teammates back in the day. Your mom have any insights? (Sorry to take this OT, but just wanted to know and thought others would be interested as well.) i have actually. she didn't know her very well as Hermann graduated the year before my mom came in (she transferred in from Jefferson College in Missouri). Very uneasy situation up there but she said she was always intense but she couldn't imagine her doing the things they stated she did. not to say she didn't do them but she just didn't come off that way when my mom knew her for that short period. -

the people who say they hate the nba never really give it a fair chance. if you like watching good basketball you would love this miami/indiana series. has been crazy in terms of intensity/momentum swings. -
won his first round match today at the French Open in straight sets. Good to see a Nebraskan doing well! Anyone catch any of his match today? Plays Tommy Haas next.

now that 2013 recruiting is pretty much over with, who are our main targets for 2014? We obviously have a big need for a big guy, should we use both scholarships on post guys?

i think its funny the acc reporter calls it the acc-big ten challenge and the big ten reporter calls it the big ten-acc challenge -
Good article on ESPN explaining the college basketball "scholarship". Interesting to see that side from coaches. http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecruiting/national/post?id=6661

is this 3 am deadline a real thing or did someone just throw out a number out of thin air -
I tweeted at BR and this is what he said: htBrian Rosenthal @HuskerExtraBR 52m @drewvandemore It's an interesting thought, but I'm thinking minority and/or young up-and-comer type. That's just me thinking, though.
-
Well I do not think there is any chance that we hire a former NBA head coach as an assistant...we need to search for a young up and comer...like Travis Steele at Xavier...late 20's age-wise who has helped them develop and recruit the players who have led Xavier to several Sweet 16 appearances in last few seasons. TM will know who these guys are way more than we will... So, Tim, GATA. while i normally would agree, Dunlap doesn't really fit the classic "former NBA coach" mold. I'm a Bobcats fan (and a Nebrasketball fan, and a Rams fan.. God help me) and Dunlap was never hired with the idea that he was going to be around long. He was brought in to do what Paul Silas couldn't, which was develop the players and light a fire under their asses. He was an NBA assistant too with the Nuggets I believe before St. Johns, so I wouldn't entirely count it out.
-
This is the place to start tossing out potential names you'd like to see as assistant coaches. My favorite to replace Ben Johnson would be Mike Dunlap, just fired by the Bobcats. Supposedly a great player development guy, and was an assistant at St. Johns before coaching in Charlotte this past season. Remember too when he was hired Miles sent a tweet out about him. Who would you guys like to see?
