Bad break on that one - Glynn thought he had the rebound but then no one back when it went the other way. -

Taylor needs to learn his role - it is not to shoot jumpers. -

uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: Vol 9, Ed 4 - Dayton
HuskerBB replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Agree on the first part - but if you did not expect him to melt down handling the ball under pressure you haven't watched him much to this point. Jack does some things well -but having the ball in his hands in the back court is definitely not one of them. -

Actually our press break has been good all season until the last 30 seconds. We are fine if we can keep the ball in Watson's hands (and Webster if he was in there). -

No excuse for giving up offensive rebounds on free throws !!! Costs us 5 points in the last 2 minutes. -

Almost everyone playing very well - but boy is Taylor struggling. Time to get Tai back in the game. -
We offered and were recruiting Gesell. Maybe not as hard and certainly not as well as Iowa - but he definitely had a committable offer from us. I did have a conversation with one of the assistants at the time who told me that we did have the Des Moines kid in the same class (Kale Samuelson ? or something like that) higher on our board than Gesell. Did not get him either - he went to Northwestern and I think ended up transferring back to Drake - not nearly the player Gesell turned out to be obviously. Not sure how it impacts the Doc story - frankly I think he was poor at both evaluating talent and at recruiting the talent that he identified and went after.

2018 SG Aguek Arop -> San Diego St
HuskerBB replied to uneblinstu's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Read those from Aguek's perspective, not NU's. He's gotta do what he's gotta do (turn down Miles' suggestion to go to prep school). One thing that gets lost in this is that his family would have to pay for the year of prep school to keep his NU offer, which could be taken away a year from now as well. So it's not a matter of pride, this just really isn't an option for Aguek. I did read it from the brother's perspective. I doubt that either NU or Aguek Arop will suffer. Stark reality of big-time hoops. Now, if NU was already doing well like the early-to-mid 90's, then a Bruce Chubick Jr. or John Turek makes a ton of sense. I do understand Chubick Sr. being annoyed, but it's a business and the situation is not going to crush him, Arop, or NU. First when we recruited Bruce Chubick Jr. the program was struggling more than it has been lately. Things got better while he was here - although obviously not saying he was solely or even primarily responsible for that change but he was a part. That said - there has never been a time in NU's hoops history when we could not use a player like Bruce Chubiick Jr. (or John Turek for that matter). Also I don't see how you can view those tweets as positive. Seems to me they are both telling Aguek to keep his head up and things will work out for him in reopening his recruiting. Don't see how it is positive to have other potential recruits telling a kid that they will be OK not coming to NU. -

Wow there is a lot more sunshine on this board this morning than I expected. First I heard of this was reading the paper this morning and it was a slap in the face. I was not terribly high on Arop at this point - but it is not like he was going to be the worst player Miles has recruited here. I just think the PR from this is horrible for the program and for Miles. We obviously can't live on Nebraska talent - but you also can't piss off the coach of the top HS program in the state either. Even more so when that coach is the father of a Husker legend and to this point I think a big supporter of the program. I have been a huge Miles supporter - and still am - but I don't see this development as being anything but bad for the program, and a mistake that Miles can ill afford to make when he already has a tenuous relationship with his AD. -
Yes I see much more similarity between Morrow and Chubick than Jacobson and Chubick. Jacobson is not nearly the athlete that Chubick was - and has more size and more shooting range. I think Andy Markowski and Brandon Ubel would be better comparisons to Jacobson. Morrow on the other hand is very similar to Chubick in his type of game.

A Tale of Two Players (neither of whom came to Nebraska.)
HuskerBB replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I do remember very clearly that Doc and his staff viewed Abrahamson as a higher priority recruit than Mike Gesell at the time. -
Don't think anyone would seriously argue that CY "voluntarily" resigned. I think the buyout is actually pretty close to what the firing would have cost. $1.2 M vs. $1.5 but she gets the $1.2 quicker so I am guessing the present value is close to the same. The resignation is simply to allow her to save face a little bit. I would be very surprised (and very disappointed in my alma mater) if UNL did not honor the contracts of the assistants.
