  1. He's also one of the most consistently accurate predicters they have.
  2. I don't think I've seen anyone say they're expecting that.
  3. I remember the excitement about Spencer and the arguments about how good Diaz was because gosh darn it, he just didn't look like he cared, and the questions about whether McCray would realize his full potential for his senior year. I also remember the conversations about Spencer's issues that led to him leaving Ole Miss. I don't remember reading the things I've been reading about this year's team. The closest I remember people talking this openly about the team being really good was going into the 14-15 season.
  4. Why did Ray redshirt, again?
  5. I don't disagree, Norm. I'm just not willing to jump out on the limb that says we'll make a huge jump this year. We might. I think we'll be a better team, I just don't know it yet.
  6. I don't know that anyone truly *knows*. We have more information because we follow the team, but we still don't really know, at least I don't. Certainly not enough to make a rosy prediction. That's me, though.
  7. This has been a decently big story in Huskerville today, but the managing editor at Corn Nation, Brian Towle, passed away suddenly over night last night. I've been involved over there for the past few years and knew him fairly well and this has been a pretty huge shock. Brian did a little bit of everything, really held things together. I'm sure many of you have seen this already, and maybe even contributed, but there is a Go Fund Me to help his wife with the funeral expenses. He had a son in high school and a 3 year old daughter. Both had/have birthdays within a week of his death. His family would be grateful for any support you might be able to spare. The CN staff has been reeling all day. He leaves a huge hole over there. https://www.gofundme.com/funeral-for-my-husband-brian-towle
  8. Oh, it tooooootally does.
  9. They get quite a bit of federal research money, too.
  10. USC is a private school, but they still get a good amount of federal funding.
  11. I think you'll want to keep an eye on what Wingett does at his prep school this winter. I think that could still be a possibility. I have a pipe dream that Daum will want/need a year vs. high major competition before he makes the jump to the NBA. But that's probably just a fantasy.
  12. I don't really remember many thinking Eichorst was a particularly quality hire.
  13. There's still one at 48th and O.
  14. The OSU guy was for while he was at South Carolina. Not sure if they're an adidas school or not...
  15. I went back and looked about last year a while back and the story arch in terms of headlines and such of last summer and this summer are vastly different. Not sure about 2015, but last year was more of a cautious optimism. This year is much more unbridled.
  16. Again, in theory. For NU to give itself the best chance, they need a diversity of options. If you don't have guys that can fill it up from outside, it becomes much more difficult for your "scorers". I think they've got those guys. I'm not yet sure they have the guys on the perimeter. We've struggled every which way to put the ball in the hoop the past three years. We need more of both, really.
  17. In theory. But it's not always true. Nobody on the roster gets the other team to say "oh, $#!%" when they take a shot. I think we've got a couple guys who can score, not sure we've got a dead-eye shooter, not that's done it on this level, at least. We need shooters.
  18. But seriously, though, we need shooters.
  19. Probably just has to show her the bank account statement.
  20. Didn't find much to argue with there.
  21. Eh, I doubt it. Secondary sports (non-football, men's basketball division) probably aren't gonna have much to worry about for a while unless they royally screw something up. Williams should be fine. And unless the bottom falls out for Miles this year (which anyone watching the program for any length of time can't dismiss as a possibility) I think this buys him a year, too.
  22. He doesn't make personnel decisions, as far as I know. He was in this role (I think...) when the program was (rightly) called out for how it treated the basketball program after the whole shim-sham debacle. They responded and for the most part have run a pretty first class operation in terms of how they treat their fans and the production level of a game day. He successfully navigated the transition from the Bob to PBA, something that's more difficult than most of us probably realize. He's a good fundraiser, from everything I've heard. Until he starts hiring coaches or recruiting players, I'm not going to worry about Mr. Boehm. If he is a part of the hiring process, that might change my tone a bit.
