I’m still smiling. And drinking blue yummies. Fantastic win. -
Agreed. If we get to the CBI, that’s something to build on.

Man I like Fred and want him to succeed. It would be best for everyone if he got the program in gear and made the postseason, even if it’s the CBI. I’m looking at what we are spending for the football program. I fully expect Trev to go cheap and go for a young guy with high potential. I hope he gets the right guy.

Nor should we. Unlike Scott, Fred’s a true professional and puts in the work. I hope he can string together 15 or 16 wins to show some progress, I just don’t think it will happen. My point was to point out the absurdity and lack of competitive caring to bring back both Frost and Hoiberg this year despite being historically horrible. -

Yeah, well this is Nebraska. We throw entire seasons in the trash because we don’t want to hurt feelings. -

Crazy how defense can keep you in a game. Doc had some fun teams to watch. I appreciate high effort defense. Good call back. -
In my opinion, it was painstakingly obvious that Frost needed to go last year. His record clearly showed it. His lack of talent development clearly showed it. He was propped up last year by a bunch of 23 year old Super Seniors, who were good enough to keep them in games. Plus, Trev had to know Frost wasn’t putting in the work. Leaders have to lead, even when it’s not politically convenient or may hurt some feelings. Perhaps I am dead wrong and he’s about hire a good coach who will turn our program around. I’m skeptical. If he nails it, I’ll do backflips and laugh at this post.

After seeing our athletic department knowingly throw an entire season of football in the trash because they couldn’t stand up to the Tradition Coalition and fire Frost last year; I don’t have a lot of faith that they will make the correct hire. Wouldn’t be surprised if Trev was strong-armed again by the exact same people who ensured Scott got an additional year. I guess will see who they hire. I’m still hoping they make the right hire - and as Andy Dufresne once said, “Hope is a good thing, maybe they best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”

2022 off-season moves: Hoiberg vs. Frost
Busch Light replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I think football has had the better off-season but I don’t think that means much. Frost has already established a culture of losing. It’s a monumental task to flip a program that’s been this historically bad in Year 5, even with some better assistant coaches. I fully expect the football program to hover around .500, even with an easy schedule. I also fully expect Frost to be back for at least another year or two as Nebraska football doesn’t really have any real expectations anymore. I’m rooting for the best outcome possible with Frost, but I just don’t see him being successful here. I don’t think Hoiberg’s off-season has been that good. Again though, doesn’t mean much. I like that he’s bringing in some tough and physical players. I do believe Hoiberg can coach. I think he stands a better shot at being competitive with some hard-nose players who may not be the best offensively than he does with some of the defense-is-optional rosters he’s had here in the past. I will have to see the final roster, but it would’s surprise me if he scratched off the most wins he’s had since he’s been here. Not that says that much, just saying. I do think Hoiberg will be fired while Trev gives Frost another pass. Just my opinion. -
My theory? Trev likes tall, handsome blonde men. The only logical conclusion I can come up with for retaining both of these two monstrosities in our athletic department. I like both of them a lot, but good grief their records…woof. I’m joking of course…I think. To me, he’s got to have a winning record and play competitively for most of the year for this to work, even if it’s just 1 game above .500. If he can do that, it shows that he’s building something. You can’t be a serious Power 5 program and give a coach who hasn’t had a winning season here a 5th year. But then again Scott Frost got that chance and football is far more important so who knows.

100% I would get him to Lincoln.
