  1. The argument for Miles is that he was bringing in talent but not developing them and/or putting together a complete roster. We're also talking about having to bring in guys for next year, some of which will probably not be able to play because they will be transfers. I think we try to keep anyone who wasn't suspended last year as well as all our recruits
  2. We're going to be worrying about filling scholarships, not having too many guys for the near future
  3. Very doubtful Fred reached out to recruits as that is very much not legal
  4. OK THEN
  5. oh baby
  6. I'd assume for assistants he'd want one Xs and Os guy, preferably defense minded, and 2 recruiters. I'd assume he'd try to get a development guy in a non-assistant position Hoiberg is a relationships guy. I'd start with the former assistants under Hoiberg Matt Abdelmassih 2010-15 – Currently an assistant coach at St Johns, his alma mater. Met Hoiberg when they both worked for the Timberwolves. T.J. Otzelberger 2010-13 – Currently the head coach of UNLV Was a carry over from previous Iowa St coach Greg McDermott's staff Bobby Lutz - 2010-2011 - Currently unemployed. Was coming off 12 years as Charlotte's coach before moving to Mark Gottfried's staff at NC State Cornell Mann 2011-15 – Currently an assistant at Missouri. Was recommended as a coach to Hoiberg by former Iowa St assistant Ric Wesley Doc Sadler 2013-14 – Currently the Head Coach at Southern Mississippi Charlie Henry 2014-15 – Currently the head coach of the Windy City Bulls, the Bulls G League team. Started as a Director of Player Personnel and was promoted to assistant under Hoiberg. Hoiberg took him along to Chicago as an assistant. Nate Loenser - was a grad assistant under Fred and worked previously in some capacity under Larry Eustacy and Tim Floyd. Nice article on him here, Was the coach of the Windy City Bulls but swapped jobs with Henry and now is an assistant Shawn Respert - Currently an assistant with the Bulls, was part of Hoiberg's staff there. Former Michigan St guard. Someone brought up Tim Floyd in another thread as he's connected with Hoiberg. Think he's currently unemployed and certainly knows how to coach.
  7. Other than Jacobson transferring there it never seemed like anyone here cared at all about Iowa St
  8. I have often thought bringing this back would be a good idea
  9. I'm waiting for cyclone fanatic to tell me what it should be
  10. If wishes were trees, tress would be falling
  11. This is what it is. Chubick used to post here way back in the day and up until the Aguek signing went sideways he regularly appeared on 93.7 so it's almost definitely about Aguek. The sad part about all of this is how unnecessary it was from either side because we always had scholarships.
  12. Moving all this potential staff talk here
  13. Randomly, I just found out last night that Matt Painter was in the movie Blue Chips as a player for "Coast"
  14. I think Larry Eustachy already has this strategy on lock down
  15. He's not playing this year. He transferred mid-season but didn't play a minute for Ohio St this year. He'll definitely be eligible mid-season next year and they'll apply for a waiver for him to play the entire year.
  16. If he ends up playing a bunch here I can make a row 14 in the scholarship matrix like the bluejay underground had to when the Jays were smuggling in extra players ?
  17. You can't run a 'Tyronn Lue is interested in the Nebraska job' piece before Miles is let go without making Lue look like a villain to some
  18. He's a walkon at Michigan St. Pretty sure you can transfer no problem like Malcolm Laws did.
  19. Both St. John's boards i read today are expecting to lose Matt Abdelmassih when Hoiberg comes here. He's the guy who was landing all the transfers at Iowa St.
  20. Ah thanks. Grad transfers wouldn't count.
  21. Brian Wardle isn't coming here no matter how many dumb tweets people make
  22. I think you have to sit two years to transfer in conference
