  1. Draogo struggling and so is France. Big D got pulled after 3 minutes on the court after hedging on a guy up top and his man beating him with an open look from 3 (It was the 2nd time in a row a guy had scored on him) In the 2nd quarter he came in and picked up a few cheap fouls and got autobenched. He has 4:20 minutes of play with a rebound and 2 fouls. France has been doing their typical pressure defense thing and Croatia has been burning them enough. 28-26 Croatia at the half. France probably figures this out at some point. 2nd half starting soon.
  2. Spain, the other undefeated team in group play, is railing the Wisconsin JV team by 40 points today. They appear to be the obvious favorite to win this thing. Being on the other side of the bracket they'd only face off vs France in the championship or 3rd place game.
  3. Good players don't necessarily make a good team but this French team was in control of the game the entire time and if they lost they would still be first in their group. Diabate might be some highly rated kid in the US because he jumps out of the gym but he didn't start the first game for France. Otherwise...how did we ever lose to Incarnate Word?
  4. France as the winner of Group C plays Croatia on Wed July 31st at 8:45 am CST
  5. BTW Matt A went over there. Keep an eye out for an offer to Daniel Batcho http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/daniel-batcho
  6. If anything it's funny that Iowa did not make this list despite offering two months ago
  7. Ended up at Indiana
  8. I'd take this as an indication we don't have interest in Miles offers to Zaire Wade, Ty Berry, Tre Coleman, John Hugley and Bryce Hopkins
  9. I wonder if we'll offer Drago's teammate Moussa Diabate....6'10" class of 2021 kid with a lot of hops and hands. http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/moussa-diabate Ah...he's the 12th rated Rivals kid for 2021.
  10. Game 3 France 73 - Latvia 63 Yvan Ouedraogo's line: 22.5 minutes 11 points 5-6 from field - 1/4 from FT 5 rebounds (2 offensive) 4 fouls 2 assist, 4 steals, 3 turnovers In game time Q1: 4:20 to Q2: 5:08 Q3: 10:00 to 2:48 Q4: 6:07 to end
  11. He's currently playing in a close one with 3 minutes to go. His shot is falling today as he's put up 8 on 4-5 shooting
  12. Game 2 France 80 - Greece 55 Yvan Ouedraogo's line: 14 minutes 0 points 0-3 from field 6 rebounds (2 offensive) 1 foul 1 assist, 2 steals, 3 turnovers In game time Q1: 3:46 to Q2: 8:01 Q3: 7:15 to 3:23 Q4: 4:19 to end Copy and paste how he looked from the first game
  13. Here is the game He plays Q1 6:13 to Q2 9:18 Q3 10:00 to 5:35 Q4 :50 He's #0 (that's a picture of him shooting before you hit play on the video) He got call for an unsportsmanlike for falling over a guy trying to block a shot but it looked a lot more awkward than intentional. He seems comfortable guarding guys on the perimeter and seems like he runs the court well. Both his shot attempts were good looks that just didn't fall. Had a ball where he was posting up, didn't have a shot, and threw it out to an open teammate across court instead of forcing it. His role seemed to be mover/blocker so I wouldn't expect a lot of scoring from him unless the French feel like pounding the ball inside some game is a key or if he gets fed on the break. Doesn't look explosive at all and disappointing in terms of his rebounding ability. Not real quick. Most of his minutes came when the game was yet to be decided though if Fiba rank means anything Slovenia is so-so. We'll see how he looks tomorrow and how much PT he gets vs a higher rated Greece
  14. These numbers are all based on sales not attendance
  15. That's the maximum bonus. It can be between $5,000-$50,000
  16. Southpointe Pavillions
  17. Made a deep dive into Buzzy and he's a KC guy who was a mentor for Marvin Clark and coached for MoKan Elite. https://www.chronicle.com/interactives/marvinclark (This was a good article and even mentions him watching us beat Indiana on a recruiting trip) https://nypost.com/2017/11/08/marvin-clarks-remarkable-journey-hes-a-kid-you-cheer-for/ In a nutshell among the teams that recruited Clark out of high school was Iowa St with Hoiberg/Matt A. When Clark transferred, he transferred to St Johns and Matt A. Seems like a hire based on him being able to develop guys and tap into AAU around the St Louis/KC area.
  18. All the games will be streamed by FIBA. The U just put out an article with the times that France plays. Not sure if France will play Germany in the tourney but the Germans have Mo Wagner's younger brother Franz who will play for Michigan this year.
  19. Seems to be an elite passer and defender Was good enough to make the USA basketball jr roster - https://www.usab.com/mens/junior-national/roster/2022.aspx
  20. Hoiberg ran a poor shooting Royce White out there at point for a year. Banton doesn't have his combination of mass and speed but if he happens to be the best distributor on the team seems like Hoiberg would roll him out at point at least part time regardless of whether or not he improves his outside during his redshirt year.
  21. Some notes from Hoiberg's presser (my thoughts in parenthesis ) Trying to figure out the team...which guys are mentally tough when things go bad had a lot of film sessions also trying to figure out which guys can apply that quickly biggest thing to see is the competitive edge (who is going to break a scoring drought for this team?) going to experiment a lot with lineups in Italy. Hoiberg just put in a new system/set yesterday (goes back to determining how fast his current team can pick up new systems) Cam Mack can't practice until he finishes a class Dachon is very talented and scoring focused (seems like Palmer 2.0) going through a slump. Work on is decision making to not force things "make the simple play"...ie make the pass when double teamed, don't drive through two guys. Always play hard Samari Curtis can shoot from anywhere..seems like he makes poor shot selection but they go in. a guy who makes tough shots Unprompted (thanks @uneblinstu) mentioned Thor's ability to read defense with high basketball IQ thinks the games against the Lithuanian pro team will be high level Cheatham demonstrating leadership and communication (seems like a guy who will end games) Mentions Kavas' high basketball IQ Dalano Banton with his size, length, passing ability, and athletic ability has all the potential in the world. (sounds like the focus will be on his shot) Notes from Cheatham/Burke Both laughed when the "4 point line" was brought up. (Nebraska has drawn a four point line on the court) Both also had a similar reaction about being asked about Doc who "brings a lot of energy on the court" Cheatham had shoulder surgery in December and feels condition-wise he's 100% Dachon Burke on the physicality of B1G play: "In practice I give my five fouls; I give them aggressively. I tell them Big 10 basketball is big boy basketball." He also notes he's learned to embrace game film in learning to better his game and learned a lot offensively/defensively going up against Palmer all the time....learned a lot of tricks. Cheatham mentions Curtis' aggressiveness and energy when asked about other guys on the team
