  1. Being plagued again by the ghosts of Christmas bad offensive rebounding and the ghosts of Christmas missed FTs
  2. Nebraska 74 - Washington St 69 4 in double
  3. Nebraska Cornhuskers (2-2) vs Washington St Cougars (2-2) ** Cayman Islands Classic 2019 ** Date: Monday Nov. 25, 2019 Time: 6:30 p.m. Arena: John Grey Gym Broadcast: FloHoops+ (pay) ($30) https://www.flohoops.com/ PSA: DON'T SUBSCRIBE TO THE FLOHOOPS $12.95 PLAN OR YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR Washington St Head Coach: Kyle Smith Location: Pullman, WA Conference: Pac-12 Nickname: Cougars Mascot: Butch T. Cougar KenPom rank: 151 Previous history: Nebraska 6-2 vs the Cougars all-time (The Cougars and Huskers had a home and away series in the 60s where the visiting team played two games in a row) Notes: Nebraska 6-2 vs the Cougars Line: Washington St by 1 Bracket Players to watch: CJ Elleby The 6'6" sophomore SF is quite the local product recruited by the recently replaced Ernie Kent. Elleby set the freshman record for scoring with 471 points last year, passing another Cougar player of note, Klay Thompson. Elleby can shoot from anywhere on the court and can also function as a point forward. When he isn't busy scoring a ton of points he finds time to also lead the team in rebounds and steals. The Huskers should focus on making someone else beat them tonight and whomever is guarding Elleby is probably whom we consider our best defender. Players to watch: Isaac Bonton Washington St brought in a few JUCO players and former Montana St to Juco guard Isaac Bonton is the one currently scoring in double digits. Bonton has been fairly dynamic, leading the team in assists as well as shooting a lot. He's currently personally dragging down the Cougar's 3pt shooting numbers so turning Bonton into a guy that jacks 3s (assuming he doesn't start hitting them) seems like a way to slow down an already sub-par Cougar half court offense. The Skinny: Seems like Washington St might now have the right kind of coach to succeed in a place that makes Nebraska basketball look successful. New coach Kyle Smith is noted for his commitment to analytics and ability to flip up under-recruited prospects. Smith has leaned into the analytics thus far and his guard oriented team has focused on generating turnovers moreso than any other that Smith has led. NU and WSU are similar in the sense that they're both programs under a new coach with a lot of new faces, they both struggle to rebound (WSU does a lot better job on the defensive end than Nebraska), and they both have struggled from outside this year. Nebraska seems more primed to win the FT battle in this one. How much is Washington St going to concentrate on crashing the defensive boards vs stopping transition? I expect both teams to try and correct their last game bugaboos. Nebraska will most likely concentrate on rebounding and making FTs. Washington St should focus on shot selection and not taking half of their shots from 3. We know a lot about Nebraska's adversity issues but Washington St is in the same boat. Let's hope our boat is sturdier today. Thinking this will be relatively low scoring but there is no outcome here that would surprise me. Prediction: Nebraska 74 - Washington St 69 View full article

    Wtf

I'm reading this ad as complementing my XXL instrument.
  6. Cam being over the top when things are going well isn't a problem...it's when he's over the top when things aren't going well that's an issue for this team with adversity problems. It's like hey man, no shit you just had a bad play and now you're acting like you were caught murdering a puppy...how many more bad plays in a row would you like that to lead to? I made this tweet that I don't consider an anti-Cam tweet at all. Someone made an obvious Cam Mack "stan" account to sort of chew me out and 3 other people at like 6 am Saturday morning before deleting the tweets. Our point guard seems to be a dramatic person surrounded by people that feed that. This isn't necessarily a good nor bad thing. I appreciate the passion, i do. Will he be able to channel it to make this team better when things are tough?

    Wtf

Was it for a groupon to attend some of their pay games?
  8. Tonight Cross had as many assists (2) as he had missed shots
  9. In reference to what Hoiberg said up there, I specifically remember Cheatham not closing out on Bradford after he already had 20+ points and Bradford buried another 3. Disappointing lack of awareness from the senior.
  10. Nebraska Coach Fred Hoiberg On pushing through to the end of the game “We responded so much better this time around [to adversity]. Last time, I think we got down 4-6 (points) and then it got to 15 or 18 right away when they caught fire. Those guys were hitting shots all over the place on us, but we found a way. We tried to throw a little zone on them but it didn’t work. Jervay [Green] was the one who said ‘stick with them, don’t help. Don’t switch.’ He did a really good job contesting (on Micah Bradford). Not very often you give up 25 offensive rebounds and miss 18 free throws and win a game, but give our guys credit for finding a way. It’s certainly better to win, and learn from a win, then a loss. On their rebounding “I thought they were more physical than us, especially in the first half. They were getting all the loose balls and we tracked the 50-50 balls, they were the first to the floor on a lot of those. You have to go out there and establish that early. That just breeds confidence. Then we got up by 11 and it was great to see the ball go in the basket for Matej [Kavas] tonight, but they got right back in. A lot of it had to do with loose balls and rebounds. 25 [offensive rebounds] is just way too many. You are not going to win too many games when that happens. You have to find a way to do it with 5 guys. We talked about it from the first day we met, that rebounding was going to be an issue for our group, but we have to find a way to compete better than we did tonight on the glass.” On junior guard Jervay Green “Jervay is a guy that can play all day. I would like that. Jervay is just a guy that can go out there and compete at a high level. Whether he’s making shots or not, he’s always going to impact the game because of his defense and defensive intensity. Haanif [Cheatham] did a great job last game against Douglas Wilson with South Dakota State. I know he had a big game last night against Arizona. The best match-up for us tonight was Jervay on [Micah] Bradford. We can learn with this group, but we closed out with our hands down to a kid that had 27 points (at the time) a couple times. It’s inexcusable. You can’t do that. Again, I give our guys credit for finding a way to win a hard-fought game.” On the personality of the team “I can see it in the huddle that they’re engaged. In the game a couple weeks ago I could see heads down, not pouting, but hunched over shoulders. Tonight, those guys were engaged, and they kept going and kept fighting and kept battling. That’s growth. That’s growth for a group. If we can continue to do that and again, find a way to battle on the boards, and make a free throw here and there, we’re going to have a chance. We scored 93 points and missed 18 free throws. We did a lot of good things tonight, but rebounding is a huge concern and a huge area that we need to get better on."
  11. In all truthfulness I hope we are capable of playing to the level of our opponents because they are about to be higher level
  12. I thought Sean Woods on the other side was a pretty good coach. They were draining shot clock in the 2nd half to keep us from going on runs and possibly to keep possessions down so his key guys wouldn't foul out. They had a good game plan to beat us.
  13. That first game broke me. I am celebrating like we won a Gavitt game tonight.
  14. Didn't know if I'd be able to fill in the "celebrates for 5 seconds during a possession" on my Cam Mack Bingo card.
  15. 6'6" from Minnesota http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/camden-heide
  16. First offer was from DePaul http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/jahlil-bethea
  17. Allen has D-1 experience and while his 3pt shooting at WV was bad, his FT shooting was good and it's probable he's at least serviceable from long range We probably need to add another post player which would fill us up. Thus we would likely need to lose someone else either currently on the team or committed to the team. Who on the team do we want to lose for a SF with two years left and a checkered past?
  18. It's Dr. Coach Grant Gibbs now
