Boy I hope he takes the 'show he can run the point' road and not the 'can shoot his way out of shooting slumps' road.

Drink every time a women's coach says this is the best the conference has ever been.

To me, not being privy to what the coaching staff thinks they will have for next year, it seems early to take what might be a project player. I also don't know if they think he's a project or under-scouted.

Mentally I have him somewhere between Khyri Thomas and Elijah Wood, which is a pretty big range. Hope we got a guy who is up and coming as opposed to someone who had a really good weekend when we saw him.

I'd say that's a good list. Attrition and scholarship availability are two different things. Webster and Lakes leaving won't free up any schollies. Verge leaving and the open one we have are filled by Lloyd and Keita. In theory then we might be trying to fill three scholarships for next year and we just filled one. I'd be pretty surprised if Jamarques Lawrence ends up here over Wake Forest.

https://www.on3.com/college/nebraska-cornhuskers/news/denim-dawson-2022-three-star-commits-to-nebraska/ "They are what I was looking for in a school. They’re losing about seven players. I just felt like it was the right place.” That's quite the statement.

Nebraska lands their 3rd member of the 2022 class after a large recruiting weekend earns them the commitment of Denim Dawson from Ontario, California. Dawson was originally in the class of 2021 but reclassified into '22 and will attend a postgrad year at Southern California Academy. Clocking in at 6'5", the springy Dawson turned heads in the summer AAU circuit which led to several scholarship offers prior to his trip to Nebraska including Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. Including verbal commits, Nebraska is over the scholarship limit by 1 for 2022 which will sort itself out with guy declaring for the draft and/or inevitably transferring. View full article

We're currently full on scholarships for 2022 but we can sign one over. I think since Blaise hasn't signed a LOI yet we in theory could sign two...I'm not sure if verbals count towards this. At this point I think we might only be able to sign either Dawson or Lawrence and I wonder if we'd only want to sign one.

2022 SG Jamarques Lawrence - LOI

I don't know the relationship off hand but it's pretty interesting to me that Sergio Wilcher is quoted about where Jamarques Lawrence is going to be visiting. https://www.zagsblog.com/2021/10/04/five-star-simeon-wilcher-visits-nebraska-with-teammate-jamarques-lawrence-unc-up-next-for-wilcher/ -

I'll need to track some video down, otherwise - Think he is somewhere between 6'2" and 6'4" - Started attracting higher end offers after this summer - Was supposed to go on a visit to DePaul but seemingly has cancelled that after the visit here - Known as a shooter -

Don't Make Me Do This (Scrimmage Summary)
hhcmatt replied to basketballjones's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Assuming you mean Luka and not the former MLB player here. I don't think that's a great comparison because Garza was a traditional center and the focal point of Iowa's offense. Seems like he could be 'If Michael Jacobson or Kevin Cross could make 3s'. Really starting to see the 5 man potential there. -

WB was constantly in the right place at the right time. That no lift jumper is wet. He's definitely going to play. -

McPherson didn't have any shots dropping but he gave the appearance of a guy we can play for minutes if we get the injury bug. -

I will say there were plenty of people there just for G Herbo. Alonzo Verge is at the microphone and is ready to talk and the crowd goes nuts....but it's because G Herbo waved as he walked to his courtside seat. -

I was going to mention Keon as well because seeing him out there I felt like he had the size to guard Derrick Walker and the game that Derrick Walker couldn't guard him. It's just a matter of when with him. Keisei is going to be in the rotation and it's just a matter of how many minutes. If he can function in Sadler's team defense concept then he's a superior version of Kobe Webster. That Japanese Steph Curry stuff about his range is legit. He is legit. Check him out on that HOL video starting at 4:02 as he holds up with Verge trying to shake and bake him and then hits two beyond NBA 3s in a row. -

Lat didn't even warm up. If you're inferring that the reason he didn't play was because he was passed up in the depth chart, you're also saying he was being too petty to even participate. Seems a lot more likely he had some minor injury. -

Started with the women's team coming out 1 by 1 to walkout music, Rothstein interviewing Amy Williams, and then a scrimmage. The women played two 4 minute quarters vs a male practice team and then played a Red vs White scrimmage. -
