Purdue knows exactly how they want to construct a roster and they're good at identifying guys that will work for them. Braden Smith's was a 3 star with offers from North Texas, Toledo, Belmont, etc when Purdue offered and signed him. There are several stories about how Purdue will go see a high rated guy but then they'll see some guy who hasn't broken out that they'll land.
Lots of teams out there spending more money than us not to make the tournament. Our roster construction from last year really points more towards not understanding how to build a team that Fred Hoiberg can successfully coach almost as much as lack of money might be an issue. I think the unfortunate reality is that unless the roster is constructed in a particular way, Fred will struggle.
