Wow, I don’t remember that situation dead dog. Had to look him up, Malcolm Thomas. I remember the name, can’t picture him or remember much ( getting old ). Looking at his stats, he was a good one. Around that time, I seem to remember that we were very close to getting a highly rated guard that ended up going to UNLV. Anyone remember his name ?

I like to start every sentence with “well ‘gin Kent, you know”….and end every interaction with “ ‘preciatcha “.

I’m anxious to see how many show and the general vibe of the event. I’m guessing the vibe will be mellow. But it would be neat if there was a little buzz and a somewhat enthusiastic crowd. At minimum, I hope we leave thinking “that was cool and I’m excited for the season”. I’d think the people there would be comparable to an NIT crowd, generally a little more serious about their Husker hoops….serious enough to watch a scrimmage on Sunday afternoon

Ok, so looked it up…James Moore is the feller next to Vic ? If so, found out he’s from Om Burke and Martz is the one from Beatrice. I believe Martz stuck it out at NU, but Moore moved on after two yrs. Somebody gonna fill us in on the other guys ?

Back row L to Rt- don’t know, Martz, Trotter, Jackman, Hoppen, Vic L, name can’t remember- but I think he was on Husker team a few years( he was from Hastings or Beatrice?), Kellog, don’t know and I don’t know the front guys. This pic was REALLY stumping me until you said high school all-stars. Da, it just wasn’t computing…gettin old.

RE 1985-86 tourney team ( minus Hoppen at the end )…Jumpin Jack, I had to cheat and look it up. Looks like 7 guys got the minutes on the season-> Hoppen, Day, Carr, Logan, Matzke, Marshall, Bailous. After Hoppen tears his knee, did a few of the other guys get more PT ( Fr PG Brown, Martz, Neubert,Jackman, Sealer, Deak Vance was already gone?). Too long ago, I’m forgetting ( obviously, as I thought Claude Renfro was still on the team ).

I figured out Cale ( too late ). But Morgan not there, right ?

I don’t see Andrew Morgan and who’s the guy to coach Hoiberg’s right ?

Tim Miles. Super entertaining and really sharp mind. During my era ( Née onward ), I liked them all. They all had things I liked and they coached my favorite team….so I rooted for them like crazy and defended them like crazy and wanted them to succeed so very badly!

This is probably not fair since many players give their all, but I’m thinking of the guys in my era ( 1980 to present) who just seemed to give that little bit extra all the time…Claude Renfro, Bernard Day, Bruce Chubick, Eric Strickland, Ada Dangenduro, Shavon Shields, Terran Pettaway, Sam Hoiberg and Josiah Allick. If I had to pick a favorite player in my era, Shavon.

RE my post early Weds morning having access to a pic of Berke at the San Antonio airport with Husker shorts on….see Huskerpapa’s tag line “men in general are quick to believe that which they wish to be true “…..how appropriate-> so my bro simply sent me the pic Weds morning and said “hey is this guy a Husker recruit or something?” He just noticed he was tall and had Husker gear on. I saw the pic and totally thought it was Berke. It looked like him and given all the circumstances it added up,easily. I showed the pic to a friend at work ( who’s a big Husker hoops fan ). I can’t remember what I said to him or how I might have “led him”. On a quick glance he said “ oh that’s Berke”….meanwhile back to my brother, that morning I sent him a follow up text saying who he in fact saw in the airport. ( course I said Berke and who he was and how big a deal he is etc). Well I finally received a follow up text from him late last night and here’s the rest of the story….my sister in law had talked to the guy AFTER my brother’s initial text. The guy in the pic is a Sr at NU that works in UNL’s athletic dept (don’t want to be creepy and give more details) and is about 6’4”. Now that I know that and go back and compare pics a bit more, I can see things better. Still pretty remarkable resemblance on a glance though. It was a side picture, so that likely contributed to the error on my part. I’m sure a year from now (should Berke end up here), it wouldn’t stump me because of being way more familiar with him. Glad I didn’t post that pic…. Bottom line, I was wrong and what a fascinating situation I did there (sic) …..even BIGGER bottom line “ please Mr Berke, come play hoops here next year ! “

Man no doubt would this ratchet up the optimism and excitement for next year or what ? The roster would look really solid.

Yea dudes, RE my post from earlier this morn…my brother sent me a text at 6:41 AM from the SA airport. He saw this tall dude in line with clearly “husker” shorts on ( black with the red “N”). He asked if this guy was a NU recruit or something and that he was departing SA to somewhere. Given that Berke apparently hadn’t committed to BYU, I was pretty excited about where I thought he was hopefully headed. The “N” shorts were certainly noteworthy as well. And now Robin confirms he’s here ? Here’s to hoping this all goes to the desired outcome. Buddy of mine from work asked me to send him the pic ( which I did). He said the hoops fans over at Rivals were pretty excited about Berke and I wondered if he would post that pic over there. I feel a bit creepy putting that pic up online.

FWIW--up to date eyewitness account....my brother was in the San Antonio airport this morning catching a flight and sent me a pic of Berke with "N" shorts on. I sure hope that means he's headed here for his visit !?!?
