This thread made my oatmeal taste like playground sand this morning.

Utah, Colorado, Colorado, Utah. It's all out west.

Not a high % shooter but he can fill it. Had 31 against TCU, but just 3 against Duke. Suppose he'll follow Smith to Colorado State?

Developing story: NCAA fraud and corruption probe
Chuck Taylor replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Honestly, who doesn't know all this stuff? It makes no sense for universities to be running minor league sports for the pros and it never has. Getting rid of major men's sports is the only way to solve it. -

My first thought: Carl. Then I remembered he'd left. -
Auburn's backup point guard, Davion Mitchell, a #52 recruit out of high school transferring after one season. Playing behind a guy with two seasons left. Sit one year, play three. Also Khadim Guev (7-footer from South Carolina) and Harrison Henderson (6-10 from USC) probably qualify as a warm bodies.

I know there's a lot of combinations that aren't covered and overlap on others. But it was a major accomplishment for me to just complete the thing!

Lots of opinions on multiple threads. I'm curious at what the fan base overall thinks. Some of the questions overlap, but I tried to cover the most common positions.

What to do with Miles contract?
Chuck Taylor replied to The Polish Rifle's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I'd heard the Altman rumor from somebody with ties to the department. He's been wrong before, so his batting avg. is now even lower. Unlike others, I think Altman would consider here. He's pretty insecure, based on some of the stuff he's said about how Creighton might not have wanted him back from Arkansas and similar comments. And I don't think he's as secure at Oregon as he'd like, based on the backlash from the sex offenders he's brought to campus. Doesn't matter now. -

Three Games Against Final 4 Teams
Chuck Taylor replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
The "system" didn't change. The committee has valued road wins and wins against top teams for years. It has discounted conference ties and how you finished for years. The quadrant system was simply part of the sorting process, a quick look at a resume. We didn't get screwed by a new system, we were a victim of the same standards they have been using. It just didn't work for us this year because of the nature of our schedule, who we played and who we beat. -

I can't figure out why Morrow went to Marquette. They have 6-8 Sam Hauser at 4, he's a 45%+ shooter from 3 and they added his brother Joey, who is 6-9 and was the nation's No. 45 recruit in 247. They also have a couple of bigs coming back. Marquette is a soft jump-shooting team like Creighton, so they could use Morrow's toughness, but there's no place for him to play. Kind of the same situation he had here, but at least we were offering minutes at the 5. -
I'm with you on this. The tournament's mostly a crapshoot anyway (does anyone think Loyola's one of the top 4 teams?), so why not expand it? Not like anyone would miss the NIT, CBI, CIT and the rest. Downside: Would be especially annoying to hear complaints from the bubble teams who were left out.

I agree completely that players and teams evolve, and I think the NCAA does as well. The reason they count games equally, though, is to prevent big-league schools (cough, cough, Syracuse) from soft home schedules in non-con, then counting on their tough league schedule (half at home) to get in. So road games and tough non-con are big with the NCAA. There's a downside to some individual teams (cough, cough NU) that takes a back seat to the bigger picture. The irony is that Syracuse and a couple of the SEC schools that got in are what the NCAA is trying to avoid. Regarding how the conferences fared, it's tough drawing conclusions. The more teams you get in, the more low seeds you get and the more first-round losses. So the BIG's overall record looks good in the tourney, partly because Michigan hit a miracle shot against Houston and partly because the lowest seed was No 5 Ohio State. All that being said, the Pac-12 does suck.

Not overly impressed so far by what's available, but maybe my standards are too high. Any chance this freshman Bagley from Duke becomes available?
-
Who faced the toughest road to the FF? Loyola: 6, 3, 7, 9 seeds with 3 1-possession games (and a couple of last-second shots) Villanova: 16, 9, 5, 3 seeds and no 1-possession games. Michigan: 14, 6, 7, 9 and 2 1-possession games (not counting FSU since they didn't foul to get it to 1 possession). Kansas: 16, 8, 5, 2 with 1 OT and 2 4-point wins where the opponent did foul. Kansas might have had the toughest road since they had to beat Duke, a legit 2 seed. Michigan's best opponent was a 6, and they needed a miracle shot to win that. Loyola had a tough game in every round, but didn't face a 1 or 2 seed. Nova had 2 tough games against Big 12 teams but won each by 12.
-
So with Loyola and Michigan in, will every conference move up their tourney a week to take advantage of the week-long layoff?

I still don't think there's anything to this. Just a bunch of talk and wishful thinking by Creighton people. -
Owens of St. John's is my no. 1 target at this point. Averaged almost 3 blocks a game. Luther is good, but coming off an injury and would be another stretch 5.

I think that's just based on that tv report, which was based on basically nothing. So it's just people repeating something that was reported without any kind of verification. Doesn't mean it isn't true, but no reason to believe it is either. -

Kidney would have used a diamond and one with a double-team when the dribbler turn his back on the basket. Most third-graders wet themselves when you do that. Truth. -

Used to hear "I like Doc, but ..." a lot too. People are just trying to be polite, since they want the guy to go. I think it's polite enough if you just don't say, "I hate Miles, and ..."
