Not really to be honest. I'm kind of getting a win here either way. -
Going Dark/Negative Posting Engaged
basketballjones replied to basketballjones's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I just want everyone to know that I fired off an email to AD Dannen, calling for the firing of Coach Hoiberg. I have now outed myself to the athletic department, and completely made myself look the fool for this program. This is my sacrifice to you all. To this program. I might never recover from that email. -
Minnesota (14-14) vs Nebraska (17-11) Game Thread

Let’s keep this guy around another “token Nebraska one more year just to see Scott frost 2.0” -
I have to say this every time I hear it, because it drives me nuts. Has our program been elite? No. Is it a great program? No. But to say it's just been this historically miserable thing is so wrong. We just haven't won a tourney game, that's what makes it seem so bad. But we have a very rich history, and I'm tired of hearing that we don't.

Michigan (20-6) vs. Nebraska (17-10) Game Thread

Can't wait to watch us both not keep their guards out of the paint, double the post, and over rotate on non-shooters. Should make for a fun night. -
IMO, that's thinking like a fan not like a selection committee. They just don't care about specific individual games, unless it's a massive win.

Except last year when I was saying the exact same thing post-Purdue win and everyone argued with me.

I am just telling you guys - we are completely fine. At this point it isn’t about who we beat or who we lose to it’s just a final win number total. 18 - yes “who” does matter. If it’s Michigan as a win, we’re good but probably in a play in game. Just 18 and it’s bad losses/bad wins, probably not in. 19 - In no matter who wins/losses come from, but probably a 10 seed. Avoid play in game tho I think. 20 - In no matter who wins/losses come from and potentially as high as a 7 seed.

My favorite golf coach I ever had always said, "You can't win the round on the front 9, but you can certainly lose it." We need to get off to better starts. However, playing devil's advocate - this team has taken on their coach's personality. Steady, quiet killers. I imagine they would argue that they are just playing their game and the score takes care of itself by the end.

2025 Juco G Abdul Bashir -> Auburn

I'm not trying to be combative - I'm honestly asking this - but can you provide credible reports saying we do lack in the hoops NIL area? -

I’m kinda of tired of just taking this argument that “we aren’t paying enough” as cold hard fact. Just kinda seems to be the go-to excuse. -

I don’t think you guys realize how mean the texts I sent about Hoiberg were - this win is on me. -
Way too long. Time for a cip contest

That's awesome, Cip. -
No, the other 7'1" guy on our team. At the P5, division 1 level... no, it should not. We're allowing the 3rd most points per game in conference play. Our defense is stupid and poorly designed. It worked as a gimmick last year, and that's it. If you or anyone else doesn't agree with me.... go watch just exactly how much effort is required to play this defense when it "goes well." And tell me that, if any other part of your life, you put that much effort into something and it resulted in being the 3rd worst in our field, would you continue doing it?

I don't know if I would call a former Pac-12 1st Team All Defense guy an old riding lawn mower sitting on the curb. He used to have double digit block games and many double digit rebounding games. The better analogy is that we had an old push lawn mower that ran great and got the job done, but you had to really work at it. Then one summer our brother-in-law let us use his $3000 zero turn mower for the cost of fuel and repairs, but instead of sitting on it and using it, we decided we'd push it from behind and use a bungie cord lever system to push the zero turn handles down.

Hey guys just curious - if you had a 7'1" guy with a 20 foot wingspan who can jump out of the gym and was first team all defense in the pac whatever it's called - would you have him flying all over the place guarding ball screens, being on the perimeter, and bringing other dudes in the post to double with him?

Hadn't had a chance to watch that yet. Just saw it... Idk that sounded like pretty typical coaching. Especially for NL. All gas no brakes.

Swelling is good. Hopefully they do an MRI soon, make sure no true damage, then he needs to get after it with PT hard.
