We are going to be very disappointed if GG is having to play 10 minutes a game at the 4 position in Big tens games I think. Or he’s gonna have to live in the weight room until November to not get eaten alive on defense as a 4
-
Like he’s getting NIL to be a walk on or we don’t have enough money to give him a scholarship and NIL?
-
Man I feel like essegian is the best player we have gotten in the portal so far and you guys don’t even think he’s gonna start. 1. worster 2. essigian 3. Williams 4. Gary 5. Morgan is my starting 5 for the time being. Not sure what happens if we add a starting caliber 4 through the portal yet. Hopefully Gary really works on that 3 pointer if we find a starting 4 still
-
The game has definitely changed, I guess my question more is does it help us just making him A PWO and do PWO get some sort of significant NIL($50,000 plus)
-
Have the people who think Gary can’t play the 4 just not watched husker basketball the last 2 years or ? unless we really strike a diamond in the rough he’s gonna be the 4 and Morgan is going to be the starting 5 next year.
-
Serious question, why not just give him one of the last 2 open scholarships? 6’9” can shoot it alil bit it looks like, atleast an average athlete, went to high school in Lincoln. 3 years left to play.
-
Looks like this would be a great get. Pretty athletic, runs the floor well for a post, and that touch on the free throw line jumper is nice
-
PBA is also gonna love this guy, can feel the energy in the building already as he’s catching lobs
-
An underclassmen PF away from this being a really fun and LONG roster. Not sure when the last time was we could roll out 2 6’10” plus guys and 4-5 6’6” plus guys was
-
Exactly, would be a tremendous back up to Morgan at the 5 I think
-
Would be nice to have a 7 foot guy off the bench that’s playable wouldn’t it? A back up center that could average 5 points and 5 blocks seems like something we haven’t had in quite some time too
-
Only recruit high school kids that are within 500 miles of Lincoln is my thought. hopefully at some point NIL contracts become 2 year deals between players and universities
-
we shouldn’t want Payne anyways, doesn’t fit what we do at all
-
4 schollys left. Who you want?

2 bigs, 1 that’s a stretchier 4 with some bounce and another who’s more traditional to play opposing 5s. Then just 2 guys we think will have a chance to actually be here next year regardless of position. Suspect these two need to be from towns within X miles of Lincoln. At some point whatever we call what the current portal is will get some restrictions put on it(hopefully sooner than later imo) and just adding 10 new players each year is gonna be tougher than it is now. Plus this is the last round of covid seniors so the portal should shrink next year regardless -
The pinnacle is gonna love “captain morgan”
-
Wish she was closer to 6 foot but looks like she can shoot it as well as having some off the bounce game.
-
ID still love to land him as a bench player this year and as a starter next year. I don’t think whatever the Rutgers system was last year did him any favors. Feels like their players had to feel the same way too with the transfers they had on top of what they are bringing in they might of returned the best team in the B10 next year.
-
hopefully it’s a wash,. You had to watch allick in person to appreciate what he brought to the table. Literally unteachable the effort and passion he brought to the court every time he stepped foot on it.
-
Saw two of Oregon states best players are now in the portal, real bummer there as they coulda been legit title contenders next year I think
-
Totally different skill sets, Payne is a primary low block player while Walker excelled at being out on the perimeter being the pivot point of the offense. I could be totally wrong on how I see Payne but many of the comments you see from gopher fans prior to him entering the transfer portal was how poor of passer he was out of double teams. To me that doesn’t lend itself to being the pivot point of our offense.
-
I’m with you ideally Morgan is the first big off the bench. Playing 20-25 minutes a game. Reink is def more skilled and probably a better shooter, Morgan is a better athlete and hopefully a better rebounder/post defender. im all in on Kyle with the rest of you but I really struggle to see how Payne would fit into our offense
-
When Rutgers came to Lincoln he was the one guy who you thought “huh he can put up some points” needs to find a weight room but had plenty of length to be a problem in our defense. I to am hopeful we can sell him on a big roll off the bench this year and a chance to start next year.
-
I don’t think I like the idea of him playing perimeter defense on stretch 4s but Morgan is more athletic than some on here are giving him credit for
-
Doesn’t Omaha profile as a 3 just as much as he does a 4? I think there would be minutes for all of them it’s just Kyle has quite the list of suitors

Omaha would make a real nice understudy too Gary for a year
