Forecasting 2023-24 lineup
Nebrasketball1979 replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
The highlights that were put out shows he shoots 100% from three so not sure why there would be any skepticism at all. And, some of those were pretty tough shots so he likely shoots over 100% -

Forecasting 2023-24 lineup

This is almost exactly my thought, minus the inclusion of the actual transfer names. Assuming Keisei is gone, I can envision JL, RL, and JG starting along with two new transfer starters - PG & PF/C. If we land the impact transfers again and most of the role players do return (WB, BK, SH, CW, QP, etc), I think we have a very solid team that is very capable of finishing in the top half of the conference. -

I have to strongly believe he is back. If the staff knew he was leaning heavily towards leaving, I can't imagine they put out the video clips of him tearing it up. That would make zero sense. -
I agree that this game is especially tricky We know all too well how it is to be on the other end where you know if you lose, your season is certainly over. They will come out fast with nothing to lose. Fortunately, we have a lot to play for so we shouldn't have any issues matching their energy from the tip. It would be an exceptional downer to end our season with a loss tonight and I just don't think this team allows that to happen. Jump on them early, step on their throats and get them looking forward to Spring break and the offseason.

Ok, I am not a doctor but I did find it interesting that if you zoom in on the upper right picture, Keita is not wearing a shoe on his left foot (leg with bad ankle). His ankle also looks swollen to me but I am not a large individual and perhaps large individuals have more rounded ankles. Anyways, maybe it's nothing but I am guessing he is not ready to play. Also, wow,.his poor left pinky toe was mangled at some point. Ouch!

2023-24 Husker opponents
Nebrasketball1979 replied to AuroranHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Was hoping this was being planned in Japan for obvious reasons but it looks like the team is heading to Spain to kick start the 2023-2024 season. -
Ok, I think I have this nailed down, assuming an Indiana win against Michigan. With an Indiana win, Maryland is locked into the 6th seed. The three would be Michigan State if Rutgers wins against NW but if NW wins, the three is Indiana.

Yes, lots of possibilities still. I plugged in an Indiana win over Michigan and NW over Rutgers and that dropped Maryland to 6. Still several possibilities.

We need 4 at this point and then if you get 4, might as well eliminate all doubt and win the 5th -

Wow, this team is capable of going on a run in Chicago, especially if we get anything out of Blaise. -

Tough break for Wilhelm and Keita at this point in the year but just the theme for the season. Part of me thinks that if this game starts getting away from us by halftime, then we should just take all of the starters out and try to rest up and get as healthy as possible. -
The silver lining is if Wisconsin does lose, we cannot be the 12 seed. A possible tournament path would be Minnesota, Michigan, Maryland, Iowa (could be a 2 seed if they beat us Sunday). That's not exactly a murderers row.

Transfers are the new 5 star
Nebrasketball1979 replied to hhcmatt's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Yeah, I don't know. It probably depends on team circumstance. For a team and coach in "win now" mode, I suspect they pay significantly more attention to the transfer portal than to potentially HS recruiting. It's obviously not an either/or but if your job is on the line, you are probably much more invested in landing several impact transfer players than long term high school prospects. A new or established coach (i.e. one not on the hot seat) has the luxury of time and the ability to take a more thoughtful approach to roster building. -
