Just bad timing. MSU motivated and mad by their collapse Vs Iowa and we just hit a wall. Didn’t like some of the ball screen fouls, definitely didn’t like the hero ball by certain guys, and for sure hated the cramps. Cramps, to be quite honest, are not injuries. They are preventable. It starts with prep even a day prior. And it’s not like PBA is 115 degree heat index - no excuse for continued cramping…thought I heard that’s what Lawrence went down with as well

Well fellas. Coach Hoiberg confirmed on the coaches show that they are celebrating 4 players, he named Derek Walker, Sam Griesel, Emmanuel Bandoumel, and Keisei Tominaga. He said KT “technically is a senior as well…he has another year and that certainly will be talked about as we move on… He then went into some commentary about each and ended with KT. I really hope he’s pulling a D-Walker and just going thru this but comes back…

Yeah, lots of opinions/rumors at the beginning of the year. Glad the real story came out and proud that he opened up about it. He didn’t have to, but he did. Mental health is no joke and it’s very real. Wish nothing but the best for him in his future

Luke Reimer played HS basketball at Lincoln North Star I think, I know he did when he was in KS and he averaged like 17 ppg. That would be kind of fun…

I actually thought KT could’ve been a bit more assertive on offense but deferred and seemed to look to pass as much as shoot. This may have been partially due to his parents in the crowd, the Japanese culture is to serve others first…either way they did play him very tight and seemed to stay with him while cutting quite a bit.

I’m going to be pretty bummed if he leaves. He’s my favorite NU basketball player - maybe of all time…

Ahem….Undeniable Progress - Trev Alberts, Vice Chancellor

Tominaga becomes recruiting target #1, especially if he isn’t able to benefit from NIL. In some ways, there was some personal deja vu for me today. I remember sitting in my same seats vs Wisconsin for no sit Sunday, my then young son - I think he was all of 6 - cheered and stood the entire game. Well, we got to share in another one, now he’s 16 and much, much, much, wiser of course. But Hoiberg and the boys have given us some awesome memories that we will cherish. I’m having a blast and I’m so happy for the boys, the fans, the program, the administration, let’s keep it rolling!!!

I’m intrigued about Sallis. Elite athlete playing basketball. Could he be a defensive player for NU?

I typically don’t do this, but I went over to the Rutgers basketball forum to see what their fans were thinking. Some terrible pre game predictions and takes about Keisei and our team were pretty entertaining. But in the in-game thread, and I’m sure emotions were running high by the person, this gem appeared: ”We are getting our asses kicked by a team that literally looks like it’s all members of the Lambda Lambda Lambda fraternity…” And another commented: ”Yeah, we’re getting it handed to us by a bunch of…..nerds!” I know our younger members may not get this reference, but the more I think about what Keisei, Wilhelm, and others portray on the court, it is a pretty funny comment.

At some point the “extended” opportunity needed to be “ok, we are living in the current, not last year”. Kind of like having a FG kicker go 14-16 and win conference kicker if the year and then keep having him kick the next year when he’s 4-10…

An overlooked basket today was in OT, down 61-63, we needed a bucket bad. KT grabbed the board and took it up the court himself. Our. Guys fanned out, KT hesitated and blew but his guy and scored on a nice layup to tie it back up. Wisconsin didn’t score the rest of the game. He is crafty and so much more than just a 3pt shooter. And it was obvious Wiscy came out to try and physically bully him and beat him up. Didn’t work.

I’m just gonna say it. I’ve been to every home game this year. Yes, I paid extra so I could attend NU vs the Queens college. I’m not some casual “I didn’t even watch the game but saw the score” fan. I’ve watched every single game this year, in its entirety. The Penn State home game and now this one sealed what I was already feeling. I no longer just think Fred will be back. I actually WANT him back. There has been undeniable progress inside the program and culture. Are we going to win out? No. Am I going to emotionally post if we lay a turd? Yes. But I freakin’ love this team. That is all.
