  1. Bugs, keep posting it please
  2. What I hope I will see: AM - convert possessions under the basket to points - fewer missed layups AS - at least be participating in warm ups NP - roll on, freshman, roll on DW - more drives to the hoop KM - more drives to the hoop JS - be more active - less standing around and more crisp passing and drives to the hoop LN - two or more three pointers Whole Team - more passing to enable mid range shots and fewer 3 pt attempts. No going to sleep on defense. A big wish list, I know.
  3. Three Point Attempts: I agree - way too many and often times early in the shot clock without probing the defense in hopes of learning something which would lead to good assist opportunities in later possessions. Last night the 3 pt shooting did pay off in efficiency as the game went on (e.g. 30% on threes equals 45% on two pt shots*), but we cannot count on late game successful threes coming along to create the appearance of efficiency. I hope that Nissley can develop into a 3 pt shooting threat and get closer to what she did in HS. Mid Range Shots: We don't take enough of them. Seems like shot selection weighs too heavily on 3's or under the basket. I would like to see more drives to the basket or pull up 2's especially by Moriarty - her athleticism on dribble drives to the basket seems to bring energy to game and has to be a concern for opponent's defense. Hake on Defense: Maybe I just don't focus on that when watching, but I don't see her as that much of liability. Not our best defender but not easy prey for opponent scoring either. I think she took two charging fouls last night after excellent hustle to get in position. More minutes for Markowski: YES!
  4. right, Bugs. The box score does show a technical foul. The newspaper story (https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/caitlin-clark-called-out-for-two-hand-push-after-altercation-with-erin-woodson/ar-AA1kvMZ1) said it was a personal foul upgraded to an intentional* foul. Perhaps they are the same thing. i agree with Whoop - she should have been ejected - if not by the officials, then removed from the game by her coach. No place in the game for that. *i made a mistake in this post. At first I had written "personal foul upgraded to a technical foul". I should have written "personal four upgraded to an intentional foul"
  5. i didn't check the stat box but the story in the paper said she was assessed an intentional not a technical
  6. About the officiating. I am going to stand up for the officials in this game. Earlier I had said "Some of the comments made about officiating here ... well that's just not what i think i saw. If replay is available, i will re-watch the game over the weekend looking for three incidents: 1) on Hake's double dribble did an opponent touch the ball between dribbles; 2) was Potts "pulled down from behind" before SHE was assessed a foul; 3) was there distance between Potts and the shooter when Potts was called for the foul? " Well, i did rewatch the second half repeatedly replaying the three incidents mentioned above. My observations: 1) Double dribble was called on Hake. The broadcasters commented that DD should not have been called because the ball had been DEFLECTED by an opponent between dribbles. The ball may have been touched by an opponent but it was def not deflected. The rule states: "A player shall not dribble for a second time after his first dribble has ended unless between the two dribbles he has lost control of a live ball on the playing court". Hake did not lose control. The call was correct. 2) I do not believe that Potts was "pulled down from behind". The video does not support this. Yes she and a Lamar player behind her went up together and both fell backwards, but it does not appear that the opponent intentionally caused Potts to fall - as in "pulling her down". Although it is impossible to determine from the video, it's possible the foul was committed by Potts before the fall. 3) There was def not a distance of 3 or 4 feet between Potts and the shooter. There was minimal contact and yes Potts was backing away but again it's not possible to rule out that the foul occurred before she started backing away. In all three of these situations, the officials had the better view of the action than did the broadcast staff. There are other incidents in which the broadcast staff's comments about officiating were not consistent with what i saw on replay. In addition to commenting on specific calls, there were two incidents in which the broadcast staff laughed derisively at the officials - as tho in ridicule. IMO, this is not appropriate and I believe the official was correct to stop the action and speak to the broadcast staff. Often times on here comments are made such as "from what i heard the officiating seemed to be really bad". That conclusion assumes that the broadcast staff has a better understanding of the rules and a better view of the action than do the referees. I think this is seldom the case. Yes, Lamar played rough and aggressive. But this is what the game has become.
  7. If Hake or Nissley were to become more serious 3 pt shooting threats (and they both have the high school credentials) that would put five scoring threats on the floor.
  8. No I haven't listened to men's bb on the radio in a long time so I lack that basis of comparison. But today I could watch the came same time as i heard the commentary. This was the first time this year I could do this, but in past years I have been annoyed at JG constantly - like 15+ times a game - disagreeing with the officials. Some of the comments made about officiating here ... well that's just not what i think i saw.
  9. Griese constantly criticizes the officials - every game. I have several times watched the games while listening to his criticisms and usually I think the refs have made a reasonable call. I just don't see what he sees. He doesn't seem to be critical when the calls go the Huskers' way. And c'mon officials can't be wrong/incompetent every game. While these numbers aren't completely conclusive, in this game fouls were 19 to 18. Can't get much more even than that
  10. I thought so too - that I had seen some notification that it would be on Flo Hoops. But I just now checked FH's' schedule and it doesn't show up there. Also not on ESPN+ or Apple TV - not that I can find anyway. I have never heard of BeTheBeast. Update: I did just find it on BeTheBeast.com. It is available for $20.
  11. Really weird: https://journalstar.com/sports/college/reeses-absence-brings-unwanted-scrutiny-to-lsu-mulkey/article_2127d022-412e-5d33-bed0-06319e55c303.html
  12. Thanks, 12Doz - this is interesting and maybe even more entertaining. i can only chuckle at this. If the betting line were Nebraska by 31, or even 21, i would be liquidating all assets and seeking a HEL to maximize my wagering capacity!
  13. I wonder if she will be here at all next year. She has made clear that her first love is VB and she could be starting as middle blocker at almost any other school.
  14. did you find the mountain sports network on broadcast TV or as streaming video on the web?
  15. BirdsontheBat: I join 12Dozen in asking why not answer FastBreakers question instead of just sending a haha? I mean that is QUITE an assertion. Seems like it should be somehow supported.
  16. I think the early NIL signing date is from the 8th until the 15th. Perhaps she will make and announce her decision then. But there is also a late signing period in April and May.
  17. Jeezzz! she is 25 years old!
  18. What I will be watching for: How do White"s capabilities match up to Haiby's? What are the comparative gains and losses? Will AM improve the rate of conversion of lay up attempts to made baskets? What about the footwork necessary to get the open shot? Who can best fill the void left by the departure of Izzy? Will KM have more opportunities than last year to show her athleticism, drives to the basket, etc.? I know that little of this can be assessed against the level of competition we have today. Still, we can get some clues.
  19. i hope that in the next two seasons after this one, that AW gets enough playing time at point to see how her stats match up.
  20. Clark will be playing her 4th year this season. I don't think she is eligible for a 5th (Covid) year. those who were seniors last year are the last class to whom the covid year applies.
  21. Yeah, but I doubt that Lisa ever learned to share and would not be surprised if she took two.
  22. did anyone notice if Prince was at Iowa's big "Crossover" event yesterday?
  23. who, WHO, WHO (on this side of the border at least) would disagree with this?
