  1. Statistics are fine to give a partial evaluation of team and individual performances. All you really need to do is watch the game a couple of times to realize we are one starting guard away from having a really good team. When you have a weakness like that you allow the other team to concentrate on our only good starting shooter from the outside (Shelley).
  2. Efficiencies listed on Live Stats: Potts 21, Shelley 13, Markowski 13 and White 5.

Even though she is a bit vertically challenged she is proof that through desire, hard work and confidence you can be a contributor. Look at Laney Choboy in VB.
  4. Natalie playing her best game of the year against tough competition got over looked this week. Here is who got Big 10 Freshmen of the week with wins over Wisc. (net 113) and Indiana st. (net 244). Freshman of the Week Mary Ashley Stevenson, Purdue F – New York City, N.Y. – The Dalton School – Major: Communications • Chipped in 11 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a steal in Purdue’s win over Indiana State • Recorded 13 points, eight rebounds, an assist and steal to beat Wisconsin • Earns her first Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor
  5. I would like to look at it this way. Natalie will be one of the main building blocks to taking our program to another level with more help coming next year. We are retiring Jordan Hoopers Jersey next Sunday. How great would that be to add Natalies as well some day. We all need to stay positive when applicable.
  6. I think that the 4 position better suits Petrie at least until she gets stronger. The middles in the big ten are big and physical.
  7. Yes we are all fans that want the best for our team. Even though we only see a little of what goes on with the team in practice etc. I still enjoy the input that we have on this forum. Sometimes we are right on and many times way off. Hindsight is always 100%. Any way we are 2-0 with two great wins and I hope we can keep up our intensity. Next Sunday Indiana will be another great measuring stick. GBR beat Wisconsin.
  8. You are correct. In the last years final game where we lost to Kansas, Kendall M. was a starter and played for 28 minutes scoring 10 points shooting 67%. She had 1 assist, 1 t/o, 1 rebound, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot. I felt she would challenge Maddie K this year.
  9. Yes the efficiency stats favor offensive production and don't cover a lot of defensive contributions of which there are many. Also it is better to look at the whole seasons average efficiency that has a lot bigger sampling size. I like to look at both the plus minus and efficiency. For example in the run in the 3rd qtr when we went from a one point lead to a nine point one, we had an interesting mix out there in Shelly, Hake, Nissely, Potts and Markowski. They played well together with having a plus 8 for that stretch.
  10. Taking a look at the individual efficiencies for this game is interesting. Natalie P. 25 Her best game so far. It shows she came from a great program with an outstanding High School coach. Alexis M. 20 Nice improvement in conditioning helping to play more minutes. Tough and consistent. Jaz S. 17 Nailed some incredible passes. Callin H. 16 Improves almost every game. Maddie K. 10 Her best game. Darian W. 6 Her lowest game but her ability to help break the press was great with only one turnover. As for the rest of the bench they totaled 28 minutes for the five players with efficiencies ranging from 2 to a -1.

In my mind at the end of the VB season she realized to play at this level you needed to pick a sport and dedicate yourself to it for the entire year. Unfortunately for us WBB fans it was VB which necessitated the portal. My wish was for her to choose BB, redshirt a year and then have three left to play after Alexis graduates. Wishfull thinking.

We need a totally healed up Stewart and everybody else to stay healthy. I expect a different attitude after the break as Williams looked pretty pissed after the loss to Kansas. She also needs to quit pulling Potts out after 3 to 4 minutes into the qtr. and replacing her with Coley. It has happened a lot the last couple of games. Potts came in on fire and Amy looks like the fireman trying to cool her down. I can tolerate a freshman making a mistake but we look the other way when even worse mistakes are made by upper classmen.

Cook is pretty innovative. In a pinch Batenhorst could play middle and one of our other left side hitters could switch to right side if Beason would get hurt. He also has a big class coming in 2025.

With Alexis and Anika both in their last year next year and no bigs in next years class they just signed, it's pretty obvious that we will have to hit the portal after this season. We presently have two unused scholarships this season and will still have two to use next year or it could be four available if Krull and Stewart don't come back for their covid year.

Our only chance to keep her was if she made up her mind to play BB and give up volleyball which was a very long shot. One thing about the 3 VB players leaving NU and also a 4th ex player in Lauenstein they all have profited by being coached up by the best group of coaches in the nation. Maybe she will go to Texas since they were recruiting her as a dual athlete originally. They do lose Middle Asa O'Neil. I hope she would go to BYU or Utah closer to home.
  16. I did watch the game on ESPN + where Brenda Vanlengen was one of the announcers and is one of the best. She had a lot of insight on the game as it progressed. Many of our shots we took were poor primarily due to Kansas defense with their quick and physical guards. For example almost all of Shelly's three attempts were off balance and deep. Kansas had us scouted to a T. Their center patrolled the middle and when we took the bal to the hoop we were stymied and since we don't pull up for mid length jumpers we looked pretty bad inside as well. Markowski absolutely needs to stay out of foul trouble and should never have had the offensive third foul.
  17. This was one of the most ill prepared games that I have seen us play. That's on Amy.
  18. I don't know why Moriarity is in the game. Can't even throw in the ball on a simple toss in without a turnover. 2 turnovers in 5 minutes.
  19. What the hell isn going on with Williams substitutions. I have never seen such bullshit in my life.
  20. This game will be an indicator as to how well we will be able to compete in the Big Ten. Especially against the top half.
  21. For what it's worth Logan N. is now hitting 42% for 3's. At 45 attempts she is ten attempts short of being on the Big 10 chart which would put her in second place.
  22. I like the trajectory that Logan N. is on. Rough start but each game getting better. I think she has a big upside. She was a point guard in high school but can obviously play shooting guard and at the three position may be what we are missing.
  23. Sorry I upset you Bugeaters. Since your post didn't say who you were talking about I guess I assumed it was Kendall M. as that was the negative one I was talking about. Anyways sorry.
  24. Its not the plus minus that I'm talking about its the efficiency where her 5 turnovers without any rebounds and only 2 points with one missed fg caused a rare negative rating.
  25. We had 8 days to work on our turnovers after having 24 at Mich. St. We reduced it by one today with 23 against a not very good team. I know Amy wanted to keep our starters minutes down some before we play at Kansas on wed. but at times we had severals subs playing poorly. We still have two players at the 3 that are playing with an efficiency near 0. Kendall M. with 2 points and 5 turnovers in 14 minutes had an efficiency of -4.
