  1. Yes I thought the same thing about the statement on Anni and Maddie. If that holds true we will have 4 open scholarships for next season. Also Allison is taking a redshirt this year so will have 2 more years.

I think Freshman of the year is important as they are all in the same category that being that they were all in High School last year. As for a portal player they could have basically anywhere from one to five years of experience playing for a different team. That being said I could see adding a category for newcomer of the year like they do 6th player.

Don't forget about Amiah Hargrove at the swing guard position. She can shoot the ball and is a pretty complete player. No. 2 rated player in Illinois.
  4. If my math is correct and all the players on the present roster that can return do so, we will have 2 scholarships available for next season which then goes up to 3 or 4 if Maddie and or Anika leave. For 2025 we presently have 6 unaccounted for scholarships that we could use.

Maybe they don't have a camera guy on a too big of a mobile cart that someone making a fantastic defensive hustle play runs into hitting her knee on the front edge of and tears her ACL.
  6. I believe the TV announcer said she has "turf toe". That can be very painful but usually doesn't have long term effects. It is more common in FB.
  7. I agree there will be scholarships available even if we pick up a couple of portal players for next season. We have been in competition with Creighton for talent over the years but that is starting to swing our way a bit with Potts this year and Prince and Hargrove next year. The Big Ten stage is getting much bigger for next season with 4 very good programs that have great history coming in. Also don't under estimate our facilities and fan support which are pretty much second to none.
  8. Amongst all her accolades one of the things that excite me the most is we will finally have someone who consistently can hit pull up 15 ft jump shots.
  9. It's not always how many minutes you get but how you use them.
  10. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bluder retire after this year.
  11. One of the signs of a great player is making hard plays look easy.
  12. They will be lucky to end up in the top half of the expanded conference.
  13. The odds are that we will get several players from the portal. Gut feeling.
  14. I totally agree. I think she will graduate this spring and may want to finish a masters program here. She knows our staff, team and opportunities for playing time. She seems to be recovered from her early season injury and it will be interesting to see her playing time and contributions in our remaining games. Maddie K. may move on as she graduated last August and we will be gaining 4 guards while losing 2. We presently will have from 2 to 4 open scholarships next year depending on who goes or stays.
  15. Tom I agree with all of your thoughts. I believe that each player in most sports at this point are considering whether they want to get on with their life in their chosen field versus continuing in sports. We are all uniquely different. What ever she decides I am happy she came here and will continue to support her going forward. And yes we do have several scholarships that could be used in the portal that hopefully would improve our team especially if they had several years to play.
  16. After the Minnesota win yesterday we moved from 30 to 27. Could be in top 25 if we could get what would be a quad one win over Illinois next Sunday at their place.
  17. I think she will help us next year. There is a place for shorter guards that have a full range of skills and the desire to excel. Look at 5-2 Soph Ronnie Porter from Wisconsin. She hurt us with 10 pts, 9 rebounds and 7 assists in our game with them earlier this season. Kennadi may be a bit taller and is a better 3 point shooter. Staying healthy will be a key.
  18. Her personal efficiency was 29 which is pretty high and her seasons best. She could cement freshman of the year this Saturday with another good game against Minnesota and showing up Grace Grocholski one her competitors for FOTY.
  19. If I remember correctly she had both feet operated on during her junior season and never quite got fully healed or back in top playing shape during her senior season. Maybe with NU'S training staff she is now OK. She was hot as a firecracker the first half and is playing a lot more of a complete game. She also is a good rebounder.
  20. I hope she sticks with this lineup as well and let's them gain time playing together using their strengths. If we play well everyone will get a chance to contribute. Hope we have a good crowd to support our team especially with what is going on. GBR
  21. I have faith that our coach and athletic director knew what they were doing at the time and will continue to do so. That being said it can be one hell of a detraction or a rallying point for our team. We will soon find out.
  22. I like Petrie's upside. But next year we will possibly lose Stewart and Coley isn't very physical. I think a pickup in the portal would be a wise move especially if the player had 2 or 3 years left. Losing Mendelson and possibly Stewart leaves us short at the post.
  23. I watched the Michigan State/Michigan game at Michigan. Michigan should have won. I still want to play Michigan St. in the conf. tour. with them as the 5 seed and us the 4 seed. It would give us another quad 1 win opportunity. The media sure loves Mich. St. and their coach.
