According to Torvik, we'd be very strong favorites to win the last two at home. Somewhat favored at Indiana and Michigan. And fairly firm underdogs at Ohio State. Wed 2-21 A 91 (Ⅱ) • Indiana -1.1, 75-73 54% .49 Sun 2-25 H 69 (Ⅲ) • Minnesota -7.1, 76-69 75% .27 Thu 2-29 A 52 (I) • Ohio St. +2.3, 73-71 41% .62 Sun 3-03 H 90 (Ⅲ) • Rutgers -7.8, 70-62 80% .23 Sun 3-10 A 97 (Ⅱ) • Michigan -1.7, 76-74 57% .47 Projected Record: 21-10 (11-9) RECORD W Which, doing the math per @HuskerFever, means Torvik thinks we should win three of the remaining five.

Exactly. See, though I don't understand how they come up with it, I remember ppl like @49r patiently trying to explain to me that even though we might be favored in all the remaining games, the analytics people might project a different record than 5-0.

Not doubting you, but who's saying we win out? We have 5 games left, three on the road, and our current conference record is 8-7. Winning out would put us at 13-7. That would tie for the most conference wins this century and the 2nd best conference win %. If we do that, surely we're a lock regardless what happens in the conference tournament, right?

Ohio St solidifying Q1 status for our road matchup with them is a good thing because it gives us more of a chance to control our own destiny. Win it and it doesn't matter how the committee looks at Q1 losses vs. Q2 losses.

To put road wins in perspective: There are currently 11 Big Ten conference teams with at least TWO conference road wins. Even Michigan has one. Only tOSU and we have none. Came close twice. Got blown out the other times. We have 3 more chances to pull the rabbit out of the hat and nab that elusive conference road win. It'd be nice to grab two. -

This is arguably true and one reason for our success this year. -

Alright. Thanks for the suggestions. If Memphis is the place, that's where you'll find me. -

My PTSD kicked in when PSU hit a barrage of treys and cut our 2nd half lead to 12. Then the guys settled down and extend it back out to 21. Whew. -
Ooops.

If we can sneak out of Bloomington with a dub, we might climb back into the 30s. -

Yeah, that's probably true. I couldn't resist. I know some people thought it was funny. -
Interesting Jason Whitlock comments about Caitlyn Clark
Norm Peterson replied to Norm Peterson's topic in College Basketball
That might explain hate from Husker nation or around the Big Ten. But it doesn't explain hate from a former WNBA All-Star who doesn't have a dog in that fight. Watch the video and see what Jason Whitlock has to say about the kind of hostility Cheryl Swopes directed at Caitlyn Clark and the misinformation she was spewing trying to diminish the record by saying Clark had played 5 years instead of 4 (not true) that she was 25 playing against 20-year-olds (she's only 22) and that she takes 40 shots/game (fewer than 20). She broke the record in a dozen fewer games than the person whose record she broke. She averaged more ppg and a better efficiency. So why is Swopes (and others) trying to poo-poo it so much? It's an interesting video. I'm curious for anyone else's perspectives on it. -
Former 4-star Max Murrell is a senior at Stanford averaging 2.7 pts for a .500 team. Former no-star Mike Daum turned into a 4-star in college and is now a Euro pro. Former 4-star Isaac Traudt is averaging 3.3 points for Team Voldemort. Former no-star Mr. Baylor Batenhorst is playing like a 5-star somewhere else. The local guys we tried to recruit out of high school sometimes don't pan out as well as the local guys we (and everyone else) overlooked. Mid-majors are clearly not farm clubs for the Nebraska Basketball team and there's no guarantee that a kid who leaves the area will ever come back even if they blossom as a mid-major and become worthy of Power 5 basketball. We've been fortunate to find guys through the portal who were not local. Maybe it's a wash. You just hope that the local kid you passed over doesn't wind up better than the non-local kid you took instead. I think sometimes you just take a reach on a local kid because I think we all kind of like cheering for the local kids. Even if they come off the bench.

Well, and he has like a 7'4" wingspan, too.

Says Nebraska is in, but really needs to win a road game in its last three tries to really cement its place. But check out the first four out. Heh heh BRACKET BREAKDOWN: Feb. 16th - College Hoops Today

I just wasn't sure how you'd know Cook was a damn good high school football coach and wondered if maybe you'd played some pickup games with him. -

Gene Keady played football in college at Kansas State and then coached the Purdue basketball team to a Hall of Fame career. I'd say if you can coach, you can coach. 1. Have a workable system; 2. Fill a roster to fit the system; and 3. Educate and motivate the roster to execute the system. -
The guy who tackled the guy with the gun is from Omaha!

Not obsessing about this but doing a little digging. You might call it due diligence. He was the 2nd player dismissed from the team. Not sure if the two situations were connected yet. I'm probably not going to look much further for now. However, his highlight vid is nice. This kid is really athletic, really skilled, and really cocky. Lotta swagger. As a PG, I would certainly fear seeing the ball stopping in his hands, which is NOT our system at all.

Took no parting shots. Seems like a reasonable statement. And, mysteriously, no hint of what he did wrong.
