  1. NOOOO
  2. My OP on Trey wasn’t meant to say that I think what he is doing is illegal/annoying (as a Husker fan... it would be as an opposing fan). It was more so that I think his doing it last night may have hurt more than it helped the first time that he did it. The second time he did it to draw the third foul on their guard was genius. But the first time took what could have been a 15-6 game and made it a 15-10 game. That’s all.
  3. So much this— we don’t need Thor to score when he starts. We need him to rebound and make selfless plays. He did that last night. 5 assists!! I also think we need Kobe to be a scorer. 100%. He’s our biggest 3 point threat right now.
  4. That was a big talking point for the announces both at the game AND in studio. No one liked it.
  5. A big turning point last night could have been the McGowns "step back" for a foul that ended up with a "T" on Lat. At that point in the game, GA Tech was struggling to score and we were starting to get a little MO. We were up 10-6 with the ball coming up the floor. The play ultimately resulted in what could have been a 7 point swing (4 for GA Tech and a hypothetical 3 for us). So instead of 10-10, it could have been 13-6. In addition, if we look at our two possessions AFTER the incident, we have Banton with a two point shot, GA Tech with a missed 3 and Kobe with a made 3. We were leading 15-10 at that point, but, had McGowns just brought the ball up and not tried to draw a foul that resulted in the T, we very well could have been leading 15-6. I would say that the McGowns "step back" hurt us more than helped us last night. Especially the first one.
  6. I wouldn't call Nevada or Ga Tech "Really Bad" teams. Had we lost to USD, McNeese... yeah, those would be bad bad losses. Nevada will probably be a bad loss come the end of the year but jury is still out on them. Ga Tech? Let's just see where they go. People like to point out that they lost to two in-state duds but also don't like to point out that they beat a Kentucky team that was ranked. Ga Tech isn't a really bad team, Ga Tech isn't a bad team, and I will venture far enough to say that Ga Tech could finish top half of the ACC.
  7. I like Kobe coming off the bench only because I fear there wouldn't be enough shots to go around if he starts. If he starts, he probably replaces Thor is one of the most selfless players we have. When he comes off the bench, he usually replaces a "scorer" and therefore is able to get more shots. For me, it's all about how many minutes he plays. He played 28 last night-- third highest and better than 3 of the starters. I am ok with that amount of minutes and him coming off the bench.
  8. I think Thor gets a bad rap because he doesn't provide a scoring punch right now. The problem with that is that the entire rest of the starting five are "scorers" and that's something Thor realizes he doesn't need to be. Thor provides in ways that others do not. I see a lot of people calling for Thor to lose minutes to Stevenson, but Stevenson wasn't that great last night. Thor got less than double the minutes of Stevenson, but if you double Stevenson's stats, he finishes with 2 more points, 1 LESS rebound, and 5 LESS assists than Thor. So while Thor didn't SCORE points last night, he PROVIDED points via an assist. He was responsible for at least 12 points (2 scored and 5 assists) and that's assuming all of his assists were two pointers. Stevenson was responsible for 2 points. That's it. Overall, there is a place for Thor... and Stevenson on this team. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Matchup will play a big factor in that. Minutes should also be distributed between the two based on who is playing well that night. Last night... Thor was the better player all-around and minutes reflected that. Against USD, Stevenson was playing a lot better and got more minutes.
  9. Yuv minutes will decrease with those two in your scenario of wanting less minutes, but Walker and Andre give us nothing that Thor gives us and vice versa. They are two different players and positions and therefore you won't see Thor's minutes decreasing with them back. Yuv and Lat are the two that would be affected by their return. If Thor gets less minutes, it will come from Stevenson and Kobe taking some of those minutes.
  10. Yes, they are. As disappointed as I am with last night too, Ga Tech is a much better team. Put them and Nevada in the Big 10 and Ga Tech would win more games than them. Just because we had more time to prepare doesn’t make them a bad team. It makes the fact that we looked crappy a little more alarming though.
  11. You my friend... need a beer... or two to take the edge off. We’re 5 games into the second year. Maybe this post would make sense later in the year if we’re sitting 0-10 in conference play. Maybe it would make sense if we had lost a game or two like last year. We haven’t done either yet. Let’s chill a second. We have a better record than Duke currently. Yes I realize that probably won’t be by the end of the year. Yes I know who our two losses are against and who they lost to. But the fact that we have a better record than Duke tells me it’s wayyyyy to early for a post like this.
  12. Is it true we haven’t beaten a power conference team in over 300 days?
  13. Oh I agree... but he isn’t taking a ton of shots either. Outside of Kobe, we were 2-16 tonight from deep. I’m saying I’m confident in Thor making more than 2-16 and therefore he is just as much a black hole from deep as everyone else. This isn’t a Thor problem, it’s an everyone except Kobe problem.
  14. One last thing... wouldn’t mind Kobe coming back for one more year if they allow that extra year thing.
  15. We gave up 38 points in the last 14 minutes of game time. At that point in time, we were ahead 43-37. As much as the offense sucked, we may have lost this one on the defensive end during the last 14 minutes.
  16. To add to this, Thor isn’t any worse off shooting than everyone but Kobe right now.
  17. I swear... you better not be right.
  18. We better find someone to hook up with. We need all the wins we can get.
  19. Then you have to find something that does work. Miles teams got open looks too and couldn’t hit. It’s just frustrating that the same things that happened then are happening now.
  20. unfortunately, Stevenson provided just as much as Thor in terms of points today.
  21. Fred needs to find an answer on offense. For as highly touted on the offensive end as he was, our half court was trash tonight. I don’t want to hear “we just need shooters” or “need to knock some down” that’s obvious and was the same flaw we had in the miles era. If we don’t have Webster go like 5-6 from deep, we shoot well under 30% on threes.
  22. The one thing that could have kept us in it (Defense) we have abandoned the past few minutes.
  23. Game Over. Maybe 1-2 more wins on the radar this year.
  24. It's going to be a long year isn't it?
