cool. thanks. i will go back and try to fix them -
Creighton is building a dedicated basketball practice facility as well. I doubt it will have all of the bells and whistles (or should I say shower Ipods) as Nebraska, but it will be pretty nice. After it is complete, almost all of the athletic facilities at Creighton will be brand new within the last five years. We certainly aren't as far behind as we once were and when it comes to facilities for non football schools, Creighton is among the best in the country nowadays. The CLink is bigger than Lincoln's new arena and will have higher attendance. The universities are different and market themselves differently. Creighton tends to sell the academic side, stress that basketball players are the "big men on campus" since there are no (american) football players, and use Omaha's amenities as other selling points. I'm sure they are pushing the move to the Big East as well, along with being a ranked program the last two years. I'd also suspect the development of McDermott might also be used as a "want to get to be an all-american/get to the NBA" sort of pitch too. (If Echenique ends up getting drafted, which is looking more and more like a possibility, it might help that sales pitch too). Ultimately though, who the hell knows what kids are interested in. Every school tries to put forth its best sales pitch and hope it gets the kid's interest. "Creighton is building a dedicated basketball practice facility as well. I doubt it will have all of the bells and whistles (or should I say shower Ipods) as Nebraska, but it will be pretty nice." While Creighton is building a new practice facility which will be an upgrade for them, it is nowhere near what Nebraska has in Lincoln. Nowhere near the bells and whistles. Creighton isn't investing nearly the amount of money in their facility. Actually, is about exactly half...Creighton's project is only $10.5 million. "We certainly aren't as far behind as we once were and when it comes to facilities for non football schools, Creighton is among the best in the country nowadays." I suppose this is relevant if recruits start coming out and saying that they only want to play at non-football schools. "I'm sure they are pushing the move to the Big East as well" The only thing "Big East" about the new Big East is the name. While the move to the new Big East was no doubt a "step up" for Creighton, the new Big East is no more than a glorified mid-major conference. The "step up" is more of an indictment of the Missouri Valley Conference and how much of a joke the conference has been in terms of basketball, than an indication of the new Big East conference being a premiere basketball conference. The new Big East basically traded Louisville, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, and Connecticut for Creighton, Xavier, and Butler. Whoo-hoo! "I'd also suspect the development of McDermott might also be used as a "want to get to be an all-american/get to the NBA" sort of pitch too." Nebraska's new assistant Kenya Hunter has a MUCH more impressive record of developing NBA talent than both McDermott and Creighton.

Robin Washut article about the visit: Leon Gilmore - 2014 PF --Blown away by his visit to Nebraska. --Basically the same thing everyone says about how the facilities are the best they have ever seen. --Thinks Nebraska could be a perfect fit --Also said that Gilmore has a good chance to end up being a Rivals150 player --He is lighting it up this summer on the Nike EYBL circuit and had a strong showing at the Pangos All-American Camp JoJo Anderson - 2015 PG --Blown away by the facilities --Offers from Nebraska, Auburn, Texas A&M, Rice and Houston, while Baylor, Arizona, UCLA, Memphis, New Mexico and Stanford have all shown heavy interest. --Regarded by many as the best 2015 PG in the state of Texas --Has already been on unofficial visits to Baylor, Texas A&M, Houston and Rice, but now Nebraska has definitely set the bar for other schools Hunter Janacek - 2016 SG --This was his first ever college visit --Obviously, blown away by the facilities --His recruitment is expected to blow up --Last season Janacek averaged 15 points per game and shot over 50% from 3-point range --Has been getting the most interest from Rice, but Nebraska, Houston, and Kansas State have started to show more interest They are all going to travel to Omaha to visit Creighton when they leave Lincoln. It's probably a good thing for Nebraska they are going to Creighton directly from Lincoln, so that Nebraska's facilities are still fresh on their mind. Nothing that Creighton has compares with Nebraska's practice facilities.

Sorry if the last few posts aren't loading for people. I've never had a problem posting a tweet. If someone knows how to go in and fix it then feel free. I don't know if there is a limit to how many of these can be linked on one page or something... Each of the tweets has a post on Vine and they are videos of him touring the facilities. Pretty cool. Could be a good recruiting tool having prospects post videos of their tour of Nebraska's facilities. -

I don't think I've seen this much misplaced hyperbolic enthusiasm since reading Sip's column about landing Keith Coleman. Yeah, it's exciting but pump the brakes here...you're creeping out the regulars. We landed an assistant from Georgetown because the Huskers put a bunch of money into facilities and the coaching staff/Miles. These are the moves we should be making. Basketball state? That's just to sell papers. I'm pretty sure Shatel's "Basketball State" comment was tongue-in-cheek. I seriously doubt that he believes that.

Shatel: NU hoops hiring is another statement Column by Tom Shatel / World-Herald Sports Columnist In honor of the Final Four coming to Omaha this week — Louisville, Indiana, UCLA and N.C. State (North Carolina, too?) — let’s pause to consider something truly historic. Nebraska basketball lured a top assistant coach from Georgetown. Kenya Hunter might be the most important assistant hire Husker Hoops has ever made. The six-year Georgetown vet is certainly the most accomplished, also having coached at Xavier and N.C. State. Building a practice facility and new arena are one thing. Targeting and landing a big-time recruiter like Hunter is another. It’s the third major piece of the puzzle. This is another sign, and the one you weren’t sure could happen, that NU is serious about hoops. According to Gary Parrish of cbssports.com, Hunter’s salary will be $230,000. The flip side of this is that someone else out there is taking Husker Hoops seriously. Maybe it was time for Georgetown to shake up its staff, but a guy like Hunter could have gone a lot of places. For him to consider that he could help his career at NU says something. Recruits may look at a guy like Hunter and wonder. Why would he leave G-Town for Lincoln? Maybe they find out. In any case, I’ve had out-of-town writers come to the College World Series complaining about all the football recruiting in the news around here in June. Not anymore. We’re a basketball state. http://www.omaha.com/article/20130610/HUSKERS/706109916/1002#shatel-nu-hoops-hiring-is-another-statement

Do you really think that Nebraska announced the new assistant coaching hire to the public on June 10, without knowing about it within the department for a little while now, or at least having a pretty good idea that Kenya Hunter was the guy? Miles said in an interview today that he had a pretty good idea that Hunter was the guy back in mid-May... I hope that's the case. Just saying it doesn't appear that Hoya fans are that upset about his departure. Maybe I'm just jaded after years of "the next great player/coach" with NU hoops.that I don't see it being that big of a deal. --It's a big deal, because it's evidence that the athletic department is 100% committed to basketball for the first time in my lifetime, paying him $230,000 to come to Nebraska (in addition to all of the other assistants being paid at least $200,000). --It's a big deal, because Nebraska took a coach directly from Georgetown --It's a big deal, because of his incredible recruiting ties in the DMV --It's a big deal, because of his history of developing talent for the NBA --It's a big deal, because national columnists are talking about Nebraska basketball in June --It's a big deal, because if Tim Miles can recruit Kenya Hunter to come to Nebraska from Georgetown, then there is no doubt in my mind that he can recruit some high profile players to Nebraska as well.

True, but I don't think the other services have 2015 rankings out yet. I think the fact that schools like Baylor, Arizona, UCLA, Alabama, Stanford, Notre Dame, Texas, Texas A&M, etc were showing interest in him as a sophomore says more than recruiting rankings this early in the process. -

Jojo Anderson is a stud. He will be a 4-Star and a Top150 player on every recruiting site by the time signing day rolls around... Future150 already ranks him as the #29 overall player in the 2015 class http://future150.com/hs/basketball-rankings/2015/ Baylor, Arizona, UCLA, Alabama, Stanford, Notre Dame, Texas, Texas A&M and others have been in contact with him and some of them will probably offer before the end of the summer -
Who's this McDermott you speak of? Is he the coach who hires his assistants from the Midland women's program via the Bellevue West girls team? That's funny. Coach Miles just takes assistants from Georgetown. Good luck, Creighton. Good luck assistant coach whatever your name is. I hope you're able to take everything you learned in the high school girls and NAIA women's ranks and parlay that into some nice Big East American big boy league recruits. Or whatever they are calling it. To their credit they hired Patrick Sellers who was one of the ace recruiters for UConn's national championship team. Probably as big a hire for them as this was for us. Sellers was at UCONN previously, but he was at Hofstra when Creighton hired him. While they both may be good hires, it is a much bigger accomplishment for Nebraska to take an assistant directly from Georgetown, than it is for Creighton to take an assistant directly from Hofstra. Hunter was the longest-tenured assistant under Georgetown head coach John Thompson III.
