Ding Ding Ding! http://board.huskerhoopscentral.com/topic/2036-kentucky-lands-their-6th-5-of-the-2013-class/?p=24789 Someone get Kamdy on Nebraska One ASAP. We have a scholarship to fill! Holy Crap! How did you remember where to find the exact post from all the way back in mid-March?

That's the truth, and part of what makes this season so exciting. We have 7 new players in the mix who haven't played a single minute as a Husker, plus a wildcard in Vooch, who could miraculously turn into a contributor. It's a great time to be a Husker hoops fan. The season can't get here soon enough for me. One thing that makes me feel more optimistic about Vucetic than I did before is that Kenya Hunter is now on the staff and will be a key player in Vucetic's development. Hunter is a very valuable asset to Nebraska because of his recruiting ties, but he is equally as valuable in terms of coaching and player development (especially the 3, 4, and 5 spots). His track record including guys like Roy Hibbert, Greg Monroe, and Otto Porter speaks for itself. Not saying that Vucetic has the athletic ability to get to the same level as those guys (or even close), but if anyone can develop Vucetic into a legit post player, it's Hunter.

http://www.gozags.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=26400&SPID=90846&SPSID=627536&KEY= Half of the Gonzaga team has redshirted though I'm unsure how many of these guys are scholarship/non-transfer. You very well might be right about Miles not redshirting anyone...the only redshirts on Colorado St's roster were those that sat out a year because of transfer or injury. True. And Vucetic didn't redshirt, even though he obviously needed alot of development. I would be shocked if Hawkins wasn't twice as ready to play as Vucetic was when he came in. So if the way the Vucetic situation was handled is any indication as to how Hawkins will be handled, then he probably won't redshirt.

There is no connection that I know of. I just thought it was an interesting situation, so I put it in the "transfers" thread. I would feel pretty confident saying that he wouldn't be going to Nebraska if he leaves Kentucky, but I just thought it was interesting. Maybe Kenya Hunter was reruiting him at G'town or something...

Wow! Nice. Fuller starting at the 4-Spot. That's bold. He would certainly be another offensive threat on the floor and the people that have seen him play since he has been in Lincoln say that he is legit and that he will definitely play this season. The reason that I have Smith starting at the 4-spot is because Pitchford isn't a "banger", so if he is starting at the 5-spot, I thought that maybe Miles would want to get a little more muscle on the floor, so I thought Smith (at 6'8", 250 lbs) could fill that role.

Good points. I agree that it could take some time for Webster to get to the point where he is ready to play PG in college. So, I think that the lineup that I listed in the original post could be delayed until the time conference play starts. It could be by the beginning of the season, if the new guys catch on quickly, but I think that they should be ready by the time Big Ten play starts.

I believe Nebraska will have a legit 10-man rotation next season, and maybe even an 11-man rotation. This is what I think the rotation will be: STARTERS: 1- Webster (6’3”) 2- Petteway (6’6”) 3- Shields (6’6”) 4- Smith (6’8”) 5- Pitchford (6’10”) OFF OF THE BENCH: 1- Biggs (6’0”) 2- Gallegos (6’2”) 3- Fuller (6’7”) 4- Rivers (6’7”) 5- Vucetic (7’1”) WILD CARD: Hawkins (6’5”) ---If Hawkins can adjust to the college game quickly and shoots a high percentage from beyond the arc, then he could be a dangerous player that I believe can work his way into the rotation next season, especially since he is 6’5”. ---I think that all 5 of the players that I listed as "Off of the Bench" will play a significant role role for the Huskers next season, I just don't think they will be one of the starting 5. The only big question mark with these 5 players depends on how much weight/strength Vucetic can gain during the off season. If he can make some serious progress, then I think he can contribute. If not, then I do not believe that we will see very much of him on the court. I know that there are people that will think I’m crazy not having Gallegos in the starting lineup, because he was a starter this last season, played a high number of minutes, and scored a lot of points for this team last season, but I simply think that Petteway is a more dynamic player at the 2-Spot. And literally every single thing that I have heard from anyone that has seen him practice and/or work out, points towards Peteway starting at the 2-Spot next season. Also, Miles continually goes out of his way to say good things about Petteway specifically. About his skill level, aggressiveness, and his work ethic both on the court and in the weight room. Petteway will be different than Gallegos, because he is 6’6”, athletic, and he can take it to the hole to finish above the rim, or find the open man when the defense collapses. I agree 100% with the statements that Damon Benning and Mike’l Severe made at the end of the radio segment on 1620 the Zone, after their interview with Robin Washut. (Post #25 in the “Official Media Thread") “I am well aware of Ray Gallegos, but I would not be at all surprised if the only starter from last year that starts next season is Shields. With guys like Petteway and Pitchford being eligible to play. Gallegos could be a “Vinnie Johnson” coming off of the bench to hit some shots for you.” --I think that Gallegos could be a very dangerous weapon for Nebraska, similar to the role that Freshman Spike Albrecht had with Michigan last season during their run in the NCAA Tournament. I believe that Gallegos would be good shooting spark off of the bench. From an article in the Omaha World Herald about Petteway: His body is ready. The 6-foot-6 Petteway has gone from 190 pounds to 210 in his year at Nebraska, earning the team's top lifter award. “I play hard,” Petteway said. “And I'm very versatile. I can bring the ball up the floor. I can run the offense when I need to. I can post up when I have a smaller guard on me. And I can guard multiple positions. http://www.omaha.com/article/20130621/HUSKERS/706219831 Yes, Gallegos started last season, but Petteway wasn’t eligible to play. He will be eligible this next season.

Robin Washut - Sports Nightly - 6/20/13
Nebrasketballer replied to Nebrasketballer's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Robin Washut said: He fully expects Webster to be here enrolled by July 1st Everything just needs to be checked off by the NCAA clearing house The SAT was the big hurdle for Tai He said he said Hawkins will get minutes, just not as many at Webster, Smith and Fuller. He said that Hawkins best asset is his outside shooting. Plus, the fact that he is 6'5" doesn't hurt his cause... -

Yeah, I heard that too. I think he was wondering if Nebraska takes a look at a kid, if he is offered by another Big Ten school. I couldn't tell if the call was legit or not, because when they asked him if his son playerd football or basketball, there was like 2-3 seconds of silence, before he answered "basketball". -
Robin Washut says that he expects Fuller, Smith, and Webster to all play BIG roles for Nebraska this next season. He said Hawkins could see some playing time, but he said that it looks like Fuller, Smith, and Webster will see alot.

Robin Washut will be on Sports Nightly tonight to talk about Tai Webster around 6:30

Your "source" seems to be waffling lately...

The SAT has nothing to do with it?! Really?... He just decided to take it 4 times, because he had nothing better to do... The SAT was obviously the issue (or at least the big issue)...
-
Yeah, I know... The only thing I can think of is that he took it literally when his brother said "he's on his way to Lincoln". Obviously, he wasn't literally jumping on the plane when the tweet was posted, but Webster has done what he needed to do. Seems like it's just a formality at this point.
-
"A tweet sent out Thursday morning from Webster’s brother about Webster passing the SAT set off a burst of inaccurate and unsupported speculation about him being immediately eligible and already on his way to Lincoln." I don't think this means anything different than what most of us were thinking. Obviously, he wasn't literally jumping on a plane right when he recieved the results and heading to Lincoln. But the SAT score is now what it needs to be, in order for him to be eligible. It seems like a case of the Websters being told what needed to be done in order for him to be cleared, and he has done that, so now he is good to go. Maybe technically he's not cleared, but from what I have gathered from reliable sources, it's simply a matter of processing the information...however long that takes. Again, from Robin Washut: "His issue has nothing to do with NU admissions. It's entirely with the NCAA. If his SAT score is high enough, which it appears it is, all the other issues are a moot point."
-
Hmmm. Not sure what to make of this. Walk on?
