  1. I don't bother with hypothetical shooting outcomes. "Always penalize" obviosly means mathematically and has nothing to do with every hypothetical scenario. Using your logic, if a team is penalized for roughing the kicker and points are taken off the board on the fg, and a turnover follows then they were not "penalized." You don't really use results of everything to determine what something was do you?
  2. Interesting how opinions are all over on free throws. My preference is that all of them are two shot fouls. A foul is something that is not good. It should be penalized. Currently a one and one is hardly a penalty at all. Why is a shooting foul 2 and a foul that prevents an easy two a 1-1? Should be done away with IMO. A foul should always penalize the team that commits it.
  3. Miles would have to drastically improve his situational coaching with four times having a clock hit zero. The two for one concept not something he is good at on either end.
  4. A hire like the women's program would be an unmitigated disaster.
  5. And going back a while, I have never seen a guy get so bad at shooting from high school as Andy Markowski. Nick Fuller another example.
  6. In regards to this thread and to the fire Miles thread, one thing I don't like to dwell on but is the simple truth. We are a terrible shooting team. However, this team was largely designed on having White being on it. He is an elite shooter. No question in my mind that we would be a hell of a lot better if he were here. The stuff about being better without him and this and that is pretty asinine. We aren't better without him. Not even close.
  7. As for the 3's, all I know for sure is that it is frustrating. I think some of it is randomness where we are running unlucky. How much of the problem is that, I don't know. Each game that goes by with it happening again, makes me think there is a bigger issue. When we go to double, we aren't getting as many steals off of the doubles as I would like. Also seems as though we just play a scheme. We try to rotate to all guys the same way, rather than really forcing guys to take them that are worse shooters. Hard to quantify this stuff, but that is how it seems. It is very tough for a mid to bottom type program to make a jump forward when we are in the bottom 15 percent in both 3 point shooting and defending 3 point shooting. We are getting more dudes. But we also need to make sure we are getting enough guys that can shoot in the process.
  8. Try soundcloud baseball. Should be on there.
  9. They are good, but nothing great about them at all. Teams with guys like Clement playing very much don't typically make deep tourney runs. The game last night was simply a product of them shooting the three way better than they are at it, and Butler shooting it far worse than they are at it. Was only watching since I had large under wager, not because I particularly care about Creighton. Some sneaky under chances have been presented due to the injury.
  10. And he is a winning type of player. He is not scared to win, which we drastically need.
  11. And took about 6 seconds to make his move in the lane, with guys all over the paint, with no 3 second call.
  12. Jacobson really manned up today in a big way. The sequence of about 2 minutes very late in the game where he got a stop, then got a steal and a putback or a nice cut for the go ahead bucket was great to see, considering you could tell he wasn't right today. Without that sequence we likely do not win the game.
  13. Hell of a win, and a hell of an atmosphere. To beat a pretty good team when they are shooting like that is a great win. Now need to do it again Thursday.
  14. We have got to be one of the worst in the nation in differential between our 3 point shooting and our opposition. This is not a good way for a program like ours to get good IMO.
  15. i think he should be back, but it is frustrating coming to the realization that his coaching probably isn't good enough to ever be great. Can't have coaching that pisses away games with idiotic defensive scheme with 1.6 left and expect to be great as there are much more complicated situations that he probably cannot handle either.
  16. These clowns were over there saying that Watson and Jok was bad basketball that night, and that neither could play for them. That is funny stuff.
  17. Not it isn't, which is exactly why a zone should be ran.
  18. We can agree to disagree. I thought the defensive scheme in that 1.7 seconds was horrific. You thought it was good. Fine by me.
  19. 2-3 zone isn't rocket science. Plenty of time in the two timeouts to describe what to do. Have to be able to think outside the box a little bit here and there. My goodness.
  20. But he did fall, and shouldn't have been in a position to get shoved to the ground like that. It was really bad coaching. Really bad.
  21. Yeah it doesn;t do any good at all unless a complete ranking, other than possibly force the members to be more dialed in earlier in the season, to not look like idiots. The more familiarity they have, the better job I would expect them to do in seeding these teams. Pretty useless in the grand scheme of things.
  22. Agree wholeheartedly on Watson. Very easily may have cost the game.
  23. Agree, the way the clock laid out, we did have our hand forced a little bit by game theory though. There were too many possessions once we had any sort of lead where we used 15 seconds doing nothing though.
  24. These last two games sapped the life out of me. Frustrated doesn't even begin to describe it. The coaches not executing a rather simple defensive concept late in the game Wednesday still has me pretty mad. I think if we won that game, we probably get this one. Instead NCAA hopes are probably hinging on winning the conference tournament now. About the only thing I can take away is that the effort is there for the most part.
  25. They shouldn't get a wide open shot of any kind if playing a 2-3. And if they do it should be from quite a long shot. Wide open shots against zones come from penetrating the lane or passing the ball around well where the zone cannot move quick enough. Those things aren't in play here. That is exactly why the zone is the better option in this scenario. Should easily be able to close out on the man catching the ball without it being a wide open, in rhythm shot.
