Bryce McGowens named B1G Freshman of the Week

Bryce averaged 27 points and 5.5 rebounds over 2 games to earn the honor.

His 25 points in his debut is a Huskers record. He becomes the first Husker to earn FOTW honors since Glynn Watson on Feb. 15, 2016.

The first of several times he’ll win that honor. Just curious, who was the last Freshman to lead the B1G in scoring…?  Kris Humphries? Chis Webber?

    D"Angelo Russell was 2nd back in 2014-15

Terran Petteway was #1 back in 2013-14

Yup sorry, should have been more clear. Petteway was the last Husker to lead the conference in scoring.

Close. It was Eric Gordon in 2007-08 with Indiana

On that note, I don’t think it’s completely unrealistic to think Bryce could accomplish that this season, staying “within the offense” and not just jacking up shots to pad his numbers.
