Honestly, I couldn't discern much because the stream sucked.  Really choppy.  Still, I loved it, choppy stream and all.  It was great seeing my Huskers playing again.

Fun watching the freshmen all together on the floor the last couple of minutes.  And Ed Morrow looks like he's the athlete he was billed to be.  Great position rebounding from that young man.

This isn't meant to be critical of this comment.

Question I have is whether or not it matters how good the competition is? This is more about Nebraska learning how to play with each other and coming together as a team before there's anything at stake. That said, I bet this competition is better than anything the Jays faced...

You might have misread Norm's post. He said the stream, not the team.

The stream > my reading comprehension tonight, apparently...

My question still stands, though: Does it matter how good the competition is?

I don't think it's very important. Most teams aren't practicing or playing right now. So the early start, the extra practices, extra games, and experience of traveling the world together as a team is a huge benefit especially considering the youth of the team. As I said in an earlier post, this was the first time this team played against an actual opponent, the first time they weren't playing against their own teammates. I don't think the quality of the opponent mattered as much as just getting out on a court, working out the kinks, getting the juices flowing, and starting the gelling process.

It does. But the level of competition we faced was sufficient. Anything closely resembling a pick-up YMCA or high school team would just be a waste of time and likely provide too high of a boost of false confidence for a team that needs to face fierce competition come December in Big Ten play.

I think this squad is noticably better on offense.  The ball was moving a lot, which has clearly been an emphasis in coaching.

I think Watson, Morrow, and Jacobson are all the real deal.  I'm thrilled to say I can put McVeigh in that camp as well.  He has great confidence and court awareness to go along with excellent fundamentals.  Jacobson didn't get a lot of minutes, but I'm really impressed with his physicality.  I think he can be a legitimate 5.  So:

Watson/Parker

Tai/Evelyn

White/McVeigh

Shields/Morrow/Fuller

Hammond/Jacobson

I think it's going to look something like this, and I'm excited because that resembles a basketball team.  It's not a ton of star power, but we have the ability to match up pretty well with anyone, and there are enough shooters sprinkled in there to stretch the floor.  If we can get this squad to defend (I think we can), I think they'll surprise some people this year.

The majority of our points appeared to have come on the drive...atleast when I was able to watch.  The good news is that quite a bit of that was created by ball movement.  Come Big Ten time we will need to be able to hit some jump shots and I'm not convinced as of yet we will be above average in that department.  Overall though I really liked what I saw from the Freshman.  A really solid core to build on.
