I think we're in right now with ONE more win this season.  Whether that comes Sunday or in the Big10 Tourney.

 

Win against Wisky we're in great position to be the 4 seed.  Think we'd go to the NCAA's as a 8 or 9 seed with ONE win in the Big 10, Lose in the 1st game of the Big 10 & we're a 10.  Make it to the championship game & we're a 6 or 7.  Win the Big10 tourney we're a solid 6.

 

Lose against Wisky & win one in the Big10 we're probably going to be one of the last 4 & get one of those 12 seeds, maybe an 11 just depends who gets hot & what teams steal bids in their conference tournaments.

 

Lose against Wisky & win 2 in the Big10 & we're back to a 10 or 11.

 

Lose out from here & we're in the NIT as a 1 or 2 seed.

 

Regardless this team is going to make a run either in the NCAA's or NIT.  This is an NIT final 4 team if we end up with 3 games at PBA.  Really think we win our 1st NCAA game this year if we're in.  Get a decent pairing & we could do the unthinkable & make a sweet 16 run (no I'm not high)...The team is playing well right now & have been getting NUMEROUS guys to step up on different nights.  The NCAA field as a whole is weak.  Even from a 8 or 9 seed, I could see this team taking down a 1. (I mean we are thinking we can beat Wisconsin who is a legit contender for a 1 seed right?)  When we get solid contributions from 2 of the Big 3 (Petteway, Shields, Pitchford), we're very difficult to beat.

We have guys who can get to the rim.  That's big.  Teams that do well in the dance have guys who can score in the paint.  Guys who get high percentage shots.  We have guys who can get to the rim and whoever we play in the dance (assuming we get there) won't have the familiarity with us the Big Ten coaches have to be able to take away our strengths.  I agree.  We get there?  I think we win.

You might want to revise your estimates higher if we keep winning... just fyi.  But other than that, i essentially agree that you're fairly close.  It's just mindboggling in many ways that we could reach that high, so trust me I get it.

 

anywho... if we beat wisconsin and win 4 games at the B1G tournament (#5 seed), our expected RPI is 15.  If we win 3 games (4 seed) our expected RPI is 20.  That makes us a 4 or 5, probably a 4 because of the win streak against good teams plus winning something like 13 of 15 in the #2 conference.
