hhcmatt Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 A shout out to our long time game day thread starter Cipsucks and to those of you who can't make it to the game tonight. The Huskers will be a little short handed today with Biggs, Gallegos, and Hawkins all out tonight. There should be enough to handle the rebuilding division II Kearney Lopers featuring potential future legacy walk-on Conor Beranek. Expect to see some walk-ons play tonight in addition to the new faces and our old friends. No TV tonight so it will be old friends Kent and Matt taking you the game. Game on. FredsSlacks Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 I think turnovers will be the key thing to watch all season with this team. We are young and prone to mistakes. Quote
hskr4life Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 I will add one thing to that and that will be shot selection. We can't just be chucking it up there the way it sounds like we shot. Quote

tcp Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 wow, unk must have exploded their team and started over. used to them being tougher than this. Â on the other hand, like that all our guys are contributing something. wish I could see this darned thing. Quote
49r Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 Yeah, it's frustrating to listen to this on the radio, I expect a full analysis from all those attending in person! Quote
tcp Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 heh heh. "Yes, you may pet my Menke"! Quote
tcp Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 well, that qualifies as a good first half. i guess scoring really *is* going to go up this season. Quote
49r Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 What we learned by listening on the radio? Â Matt prefers hunting to fishing. Â Also, they have lots of good deer hunting near Benkelman Quote
hskr4life Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 Wow... maybe a little surprised at the halftime score! Not there in person, so I would like a full rundown. Have not got a chance at radio yet... who is playing good better or worse than expected? Quote
49r Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 Sounds like Shavon is picking up right where he left off last year. Â Nick Fuller is getting a lot of work. Â Tai is showing signs of brilliance. Â Pitchford won the tip (so we got that going for us, which is nice). Â But I'm only paying half attention right now. Â Still, a 27 point lead (and way more than doubling the opponents' score) at halftime isn't really much to sneeze at. Â Even if it is only against Kearney. Quote
hugh42 Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 Shields is playing well, including a nice dunk according Kent. Â Pitchford has hit a couple of 3's and Tai looks smooth (again, according to Kent). Quote
hugh42 Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 Sounds as though Smith has impressed. Â That knee must be feeling okay tonight. Quote
49r Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 It's just a little confusing listening to this when UNK has both a Shields and Beranek on their team. Â I keep thinking we're scoring more than we really are. Quote
49r Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 Reserves getting a lot of minutes down the stretch. Â Would have liked to see them stretch this lead a little. Quote
hskr4life Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 Reserves getting a lot of minutes down the stretch. Â Would have liked to see them stretch this lead a little. Â Ehh... why show that we are an offensive threat now... do it on Friday Quote
49r Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 27 point lead at halftime, only stretched that by 4 more in the second half. Â Doesn't look like the guys have taken Tim Miles rule of basketball #6 quite to heart yet. Â Â Of course I'm kidding. Â I'm sure coach wasn't going to try to go out and embarrass UNK tonight. Â No point to it. Quote
hskr4life Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 Saw on Twitter... 91 to 60 final... good win I think Quote
49r Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 Overall though, from what I could tell just by listening, I feel a bit better about the prospects for this team this year. Quote
tcp Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 well, lots of combos tried, which is good, because we're going to be fouling machines. not a good year for this crackdown to happen for us. friday's game should be pretty revealing. Quote
