TourneyBound Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 Anyone have any ideas on who are the leading candidates to commit to the Huskers for the Class of 2014?? I know we have a couple scholarships availiable. What positions do you guys feel are of need?? Just curious because our offers keep commiting elsewhere and its probably a little early but I'm getting a bit nervous!!! Quote

ajb5856 Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 Does anybody think any of the guards Miles had offered for 2014 had/have commitable offers? We have quite a few offers out to guards/point guards in the 2015 class. The roster seems to be stacked full of guards and our biggest need for this next class would be a big man. We only have 2 spots to fill in 2014. This last PG, Casey Benson the Oregon commit had an NU offer. But was it a commitable one? It would surprise me if Miles let any guard commit to our 2014 class first, outside of a instant impact top 25 game changer type prospect. It's still pretty early for this class. Miles can be selective to a point. Quote

I dont think NU is at the point where they can turn down players of that ability yet; hopefully. I really hope down the line thats possible but at this point you cant turn down a player that'd be ranked higher than any your school has signed in a long time. Quote

It would be difficult to turn a player of that caliber down. I think he was ranked 140 overall by Rivals for 2014. I'm asking the question. What do we think Miles' plan is? A lot of guys we have offered are either ranked or are flying under the radar and end up being ranked. Miles has a nose for talent. For 2014, we are going to end up with a couple of ranked guys or we are going to end up stealing some sneaky good guys that are flying under the radar. Of the incoming guys, Webster (assuming he makes it) is someone who would've been ranked (from what we've heard) and Fulller, in my opinion, was an absolute steal. Some could argue that he should've been ranked. No, we haven't had an officially ranked Rivals150 player in our program for awhile. But does that mean you allow the #140 player who is a guard to commit first in a class of two with so many offers left on the board when the biggest void is a big man? Rankings only go so far. That's why you see so many different guys jump into that 100-150 range when new rankings come out. For 2014, nos 106-150 are all 3-star guys. There's a bunch of 3 star players out there that might as well be ranked. What do we think the plan is? Quote
TheKamdyMan Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 I have a feeling you'll see 3 commits by next spring. Someone will be on their way out. Two signed in the fall one in the spring. Quote

I wouldn't be surprised to lose someone after next season. Who knows. I came to expect it with Doc, but roster turnover didn't seem to be an issue with Miles at CSU. Quote

Miles basically turned down this kid who was 128 out of 150. He was down to us and Temple and we decided not to bring him in for a visit. I believe Robin tweeted that the reason was because we had too many guards in the class. http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Josh-Brown-129051 I think this was before we missed out on Agau, Atewe, Sai, etc. Quote

TheKamdyMan Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 BR just tweeted he still thinks theres someone that comes out of left field to take the scholarships for this year. Says he doesnt have names though. Quote

Says he doesnt have names though. I've always thought that too. There has to be a D1 grad transfer out there. Maybe not a significant contributor, but probably somebody that is more worthy of a scholarship than Menke or Peltz. Quote
