I'd hope for at least a split. GBR

You're probably right, but I'm going to get greedy this weekend and expect 3-1.

Key is to keep our energy and focus up on a 3rd straight road trip weekend. The weekend after you had some success on the road and then have to turn around and make another long trip a few days later is always a little tricky from a focus standpoint.

Christo gets the chance to set the tone again Thursday. That'll be a big start for him personally and for the team. We need him to pitch to his high round draft pick potential this year, which he did pretty well last weekend. Now he has to repeat it to show the coaches they can trust him.

Could be a couple tight, low-scoring games this weekend - C of C has allowed only 15 runs in 7 games, but they haven't faced an offense like ours yet. Their pitchers have 17 walks to 58 Ks, so it won't be easy to cut down on our strikeout numbers this weekend.

The key for our pitchers is to avoid giving up walks. C of C hitters have 58 walks and 11 HBP already this season - almost 10 per game. Keep the free passes to a minimum and we'll be in good shape. Attack the zone and work with a purpose to keep their hitters on the defensive.

C of C is used to winning, so they won't go away easily. And they're nearly always great at home - three of the past four full seasons they've won 24+ home games. We'll need to play well.

Sure I'd love 3-1, but it would be all right to contend with 2-2 against these southern teams that have a built-in advantage early on in the season. GBR

Stole that one - wow! I was afraid we might sleepwalk through this one, and we did for 8 innings on offense and defense. Always better to wake up late than never - much nicer to learn the lesson of always being ready to play with a W, too.

Christo pitched great again and deserved much better from his teammates. That's probably the biggest takeaway, other than the final result, that he appears to be ready for a big role this season. Having an arm like his in the weekend rotation makes us a much better team for sure. Glad to see Frahm get a chance on the bump today, even though it was a little rocky. He has high-end arm talent, too, and we're going to need him as the season goes along.

And great to see Timmerman get that last out - big for his confidence after last weekend.

Need Sears to eat some innings tomorrow after using so many guys today. Or we need Friday's rainy weather forecast to be accurate, because we could be headed for a Saturday DH, which would give the bullpen a break at least tomorrow.
