AuroranHusker Posted November 20, 2023 Report Posted November 20, 2023 (edited) Quote University of Nebraska at Kearney head men’s basketball coach Kevin Lofton is resigning from his position effective immediately. Lofton has been part of the UNK program since 1995, serving as a graduate assistant, assistant head coach, associate head coach, co-head coach and head coach during that time. Assistant coach Antoine Young will lead the Lopers for the remainder of the season as interim head coach. https://www.1011now.com/2023/11/17/kevin-lofton-resigns-unk-head-mens-basketball-coach/ Anyone heard about the reasoning behind this ??? Cowboy Kermit Posted November 20, 2023 Report Posted November 20, 2023 He was lucky to have been brought back for this year after how last year went.. Haven’t heard anything but can assume it’s probably not a good situation. Also had never heard the best things about Coach Lofton from basketball circles Quote
AuroranHusker Posted November 20, 2023 Author Report Posted November 20, 2023 Going 5-23 isn't doing one's job very well. What other factors would seem to be at play in his timing, @Cowboy Kermit? Quote

Doubt it played a part in him quitting, but how about the fact they only have 1 Nebraska kid on the roster Quote

I wonder how many people were showing up for their games in the recent past. . . Quote

I wasn't following the numbers you presented... just curious. Quote

AuroranHusker Posted December 1, 2023 Author Report Posted December 1, 2023 After a close loss to start the season & a coach split thereafter, the Lopers immediately won 2 straight, against Chadron 113-101 & W. Colorado 76-75. Then the Lopers were smoked by Wayne St. 95-68. Will be interesting to track how much improvement they make after a ridiculous 5-23 season last year. Go Lopes! Quote

His kid committed to Kearney and then ended up flipping to Wayne St. Quote
